When this first came out, I couldn't get past this song. I must have listened to this song at least 50 times before I went to the second song on the album. If you had to press me for a favorite song of all time, this would be on the short list without a doubt.
I've known about Katatonia for a long time now, so I've come to expect nothing but awesome stuff for years, they've been a very consistent band. The way you're feeling about them right now is the same high I'm getting for Sleep Token. They're so good at layering and building of a simple base, the only other album comparable to me last year was Leprous' Pitfalls. A fusion of Pop, Soul, Metal.. really boundless. If i knew you'd only give them one chance ever, I'd suggest the song Higher. If there was a chance you'd ever listen to them again you should hear Jaws first!
Are you, by any chance, familiar with Storm Corrosion? A one-album project by Steven Wilson and Mikael Akerfeldt. I love it though it is a bit different from their other works. Also, waiting for more Mastodon and "Damnation" and "Heritage" albums by Opeth.
I second this, Storm Corrosion is my all time favorite singular album. Nothing has brought me more intense and surreal emotions. A Masterpiece. Must listen to the whole album in it's entirety and multiple times before it clicks. Such a unique experience! Like nothing I have ever heard before. Can't go wrong with anything Mikael and Steven conjure up.
You know how I feel about Katatonia, great band, great reaction. Also looks like congrats on 1k subs is in order, nice! So many mind blowing songs still to discover on every record.
Did something very not me and pre-ordered this when it was released, got it from my mailbox, went inside, put my phone in silent mode, pressed play and got the first goosebumps 5 seconds in🙂 And for some reason they just kept on coming through the entire thing 😀 Easily on my top 3 albums this century 👍

This album may well ruin the rest of music for you. After discovering Katatonia, no other music held up. It takes a bit of separation before I can go back to my worship of Steven Wilson, Devin Townsend and TOOL... every section of the song pulls your interest along... no part of it is boring, everything builds... and the relaxation after those builds are sublime... this album is incomparable. Thank you for the honest review.

I do know Storm Corrosion. The funny thing is, I listened to S.C. before Opeth. I will be doing the more Mastodon and of course, Opeth.
Definitely one of my favorite Katatonia tracks. Passer is my favorote off this album I believe. Though the whole album is a masterpiece in my view.

@@theolag1994 it's another Chapman. Just a ML1 traditional standard. Much better than I expected.
