That was excellent! When I was reading the recounting of Masada by Josephus, I tried so hard to picture it all in my head-from the magnificence of the fortress and palace itself, to the surrounding legion camps, and finally to the rampart built all the way to the top. NOTHING I imagined compares to reality!! Now that I have seen the sheer size of the mountain, literally surrounded by so many soldiers camps, and what the actual ramp looks like...I can only imagine the terror and horror and fear they must have been feeling, especially as a mother of two children!
Anyway, thank you for sharing such a well done video which was so informative and moving. Danny the Digger is awesome! Seems like he’d be the kind of guide I’d want with me there! Excellent. Thank you.

Visited Masada in 2019 was on my bucket list. The effort to haul up food and wood and other needed items had to be unbelievable . 100 degrees in May when we were there.

I have been working as an archaeologist in England for over 30 years, mainly connected with Roman and Iron Age remains in the East of England during this period and I have never seen Masada. I hope to go there one day.....I really do.

How many times have I watched this episode about Masada and each time my heart breaks of the misfortune of the Israelites here. Danny the digger was also suffering the pain of history. He couldn't hide it. I shared his pain.🌷🌷🌷🇵🇭🌹🇦🇷

I can't image a royal like King Herod not having a large secret entrance/tunnel into this palace for him, his family, servants, guests, and guards. They would require living accommodations, too. Danny mentioned there were stables on the upper ground level.
There had to be a way in for 987 people and their flock of sheep.
I bet it drove the Romans nuts to not be able to find that access point.
But no one talks about it. I'm guessing the underground passages of Masada are not shown to anyone because at least one of them (probably more) leads to the entrance.

March 30th 2021 this is the most excellent explanation of Masada especially focusing on what Josephus actually wrote. Even though I have studied this subject extensively and understand the political conditions of these people I would like to point out that it is never right to commit suicide based on many things in the bible. yes it's horrible to think of somebody facing death at the hands of the Romans but let's consider when this happened. Jesus died about 30 to 33 ad and obviously some of these people were alive at that time and may have had an opportunity to hear the gospel not only from Jesus himself but from the apostles who had lived probably of the last apostle died I believe in 65 ad and they went all over. The people who were involved in this revolt had just caused because how brutally they were treated by the Roman government and that has been documented so it's really not up for debate. there is a commentary on another excellent video that mentions I believe it was by amir it's a party from behold Israel on this issue who is the Messianic Jew who stated that the siege last day in the evening when the revolters thought they were going to win because the wind changed direction so they thought that the fire the Romans were bringing would not affect them they attribute this to their sinfulness the god did not favor them because they thought they were going to be safe. They had plenty of food left and I believe he read parts of Josephus were the final speech was given about committing suicide. in committing of the suicide they did not want the one woman and five children to live but they are she obviously hit. the fire that was brought down on them was not an act of God was part of Satan's control over this world. It's hard to believe that since none of these people believed in Jesus and he is the only way that none of them would have gotten to heaven which is a very difficult thing to approach but he is the only way. I would like to hear more about anything the woman and the five children who were left had to say and she will see if this is very reliable in terms of what he's been reporting on both sides the Romans and the Jews because he was jewish. the saving of those woman and five children I believe was God telling her to hide and that was a big place so I'm sure she had luck finding a safe place but that leaves us with the idea well couldn't a couple of more people have been saved instead of mass suicide. I understand his view isn't going to be held by most but again I would personally like to visit Masada although I never will.

I've always wondered why EVERY video of Masada is stock footage at quire a difference and the rubble up on top.
There are no views of the foreground passages or the three tiers of the palace.
It was nice to see a cistern.
The Israelites dwelt in the land flowing with milk and honey. It wasn't a desert in those days.
