    I also recently picked up a Yokomo YD RTR. I'm also very new to the Drift RC community. Unfortunately ALL the electronics that came with it failed or burnt out. The ESC was the first to go within the first 10mins of running. Fortunately for me, after getting a new brushed ESC I had to swap out the gyro too. When my HobbyTown guy swapped out the gyro it smoked and fried the stock servo right in front of him. Since we have already swapped out the ESC and Gyro by this point he then suggested we to do a full refund and send it back. I did!
    As an alternative, I went with the Yokomo RD 1.0 Rookie Drift Kit. I figured I was about to upgrade the electronics on the RTR so might as well, right?! I'm powering my kit with a HobbyWing D10 13.5T motor and HobbyWing Xerun xD10 100A ESC. I'm gliding with the Yokomo DP 302 V4 gyro and the Yokomo SP-02 V2 servo. Highly recommend in the RC drifting community!
    I'm curious to see what upgrades and hop-ups you decide to go with. Looks like there's lot for us to learn.
    I'm getting ready to paint the body for it but if you're curious of my build come check it out on Tiktok under SouleanBass.
    Safe Journeys!

      I’m actually super happy you were able to get it all figured out! In my recent update videos it’s been completely transformed! We’re actually running some of the same electronics! I also had many of the same issues you faced haha. I think the yd rtr are cursed from the factory so I’m glad you got your money back and we’re able to choose the right parts to fit! Thank you so much for watching and commenting🙏🏼 I don’t have a TikTok but will try to look your stuff up from a friends! Have a great day!

    What I learned for rc drift don’t cheap out on electronics. This also applies for other rc discipline but more so on this genre. Smooth esc along with good gyro and servo goes a long way. I started out with yd2s upgrade it little by little now its a fully yd2zx.

      Ya absolutely electronics are key. In some of my recent videos you may see that my yd2 has been converted into a Rhino Racing Shark. This motor and esc in this video did a surprisingly good job but has been replaced with a Hobby WIng XD10 Drift combo

      @@SeanLewisMedia Great choice on the esc and motor. Got mine to work great on polished concrete with lots of traction. On p tile however theres too much grip. Do you mind sharing your esc settings? Might need to pull out my ota progammer for the first time since forever lol

    Wow, your chassis is a basically the Yokomo version of my D5, save for the body motor and esc. Can't wait to take mines to Super-G sometime soon.

      @SeanLewisMedia  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice! I've noticed that a lot of the chassis are very similar. Super G is awesome, your going to have a lot of fun!

    I've put yeah racing shocks on mine they came with 300cst oil now I'm thinking far too thick what do you recommend 🤔

    • @SeanLewisMedia
      @SeanLewisMedia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a bit heavy, I’m currently running 100 cst front and rear and it feels great. That’s what I was recommended when I built the shocks from an employee and driver at the shop. I’d try that that to start. Thanks for watching!

    Nice add ons, not sure if you have done more work on this since this video but your front shocks have wayyy to much preload. if you need that much compression, switch them out to stiffer springs. that way you are not maxing out the potential. Happy drifting!!

    If i want to run a shorty lipo with the stock esc is that possible? Is there an adapter i need to buy to connect to the stock esc cable? Thanks

    • @SeanLewisMedia
      @SeanLewisMedia  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You should be able too! It just depends on the connectors but you may want to look at “bullet connectors” as your best option for connectors. They typically go right into the battery👍🏼

    Did you have alot of play in your steering on this? Mine does and i cant seem to find out what the root cause is

    • @SeanLewisMedia
      @SeanLewisMedia  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I 100% did as well and it through me through a loop. I honestly never figured it out how to make it better I just learners to drive as well as I could until I upgraded my chassis. The plastic has a lot of play that’s hard to get rid of.
      There are a couple options, you could upgrade to a yokomo slide rack but it cost almost $200 and still has some drawbacks
      My car is a lot more upgraded now, but one of those upgrades is the Rhino Racing DDSS (Direct Drive Steering System) and solved the problem while also making my car a lot better handling. I believe you can just add that to a base yokomo to upgrade the steering and it only cost around $100 to get.
      Unfortunately it’s a problem that you kind of have to throw money at or just have fun while you’re saving up for parts.
      I just finally got some parts I was waiting to buy for a while last night lol.
      If you have any other questions let me know!
      I’m not sure if you have seen some of my recent videos but my car has changed a lot as I added upgrades over time.

      I put a power HD D15 servo and yokomo v4 gyro on my car recently and had a ton of wobble I to turn my v4 gain way down in order to achieve no wobble. So I was kinda guessing it was the play in the steering but idk

    • @SeanLewisMedia
      @SeanLewisMedia  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The jitter could be amplified by the steering slop for sure. I guess the normal things to check is that the gyro isnt getting vibrated from anything, and then for sure the steering and wheel components wobbling could add to that.
      Im still learning a lot and the gyro/servo tuning is something that has not been easy for me to figure out. I just put a new servo in my car and it jitters like crazy on the bench but drive really well. Its weird haha. Someone told me to just leav it alone because it almost impossible to get the jitters out of it haha.
      One thing you can also double check and dial in is the camber, toe, and steering linage to make sure its all pretty in line. I crashed pretty hard into something with my yd2 and had to replace a couple parts to get it running right again@@mattparker510

    I got a yokomo YD-2S and i have the brushless 10.5T DX-1 with a BLRSP-4 thats pretty quick on p-tile tires and asphalt rubber tires just a bit grippier and it picks up speed fast, yokomo V4 gyro, V2 servo, and i have stock shocks still, the ones that come on the YD-2S arent clip adjustable they are oil filled turn adjustable and theyve held up in 30mph+ violent crashes into curbs, poles and walls and my friends cars (MST RMX and a Redcat) doing asphalt drifting and no broken springs, those that have good quality and good spring rates
