I really like the two-camera approach. Frequently in other videos I shout "Wait, turn that way!" and in this video one of the two cameras was always looking where I wanted to see.
Loved this approach. Please do more of these. I finally went to Gettysburg last summer after wanting to go for 40 years and I cannot wait to go back. Great job you two.
Hello to fellow Civil War buff from down under! I am from Sterling Heights,MI and Gettysburg is my cathedral, when I retire in 5 years. I plan on moving there at that time. If you are a podcast fan there is Addressing Gettysburg, which is fantastic. And Gary is on some of the episodes as well. If you ever come to Gettysburg, you will not find a better group of Americans and how they truly are hospitable they are. And you would be close to a lot of other battlefields nearby as well. So much US history in such a close area. Well have a great day and I wish you can make the trip one day,my friend. And I did travel to your beautiful country in 1985 via the US Navy and Perth and Western Australia was awesome.
Thumbs up on the new video approach. I also appreciate the heads up on the closure. Devil's Den is my favorite spot to visit at the park. I have fond memories of the first time I visited with my dad back in the 70s.
This perspective is the best thing ever for those of us who can't travel for whatever reasons. This is exactly why I've been watching you guys for years.
I got seriously into the Ken Burns series and the movie 'Gettysburg'. My confusion was a lack of North, East, West, South directions and multiple camera directions. Only a visit to the battlefield cleared it up. Amazing place.
Having grown up in NJ, we visited and vacationed in Gettysburg many times. Now grown with a family of my own and living much further away, I have a great desire to bring my kids to the battlefield one day for them to experience it for themselves as I did when I was a kid. great memories. Thank you for these videos.
The re location of the “first” 99th PA Monument is significant as they assisted in getting some of Cushing ‘s guns removed on July 3 during Pickett’s Charge.
I appreciate these kinds of videos. As a person with a mobility disability most of the areas outside of a visitor center are not normally accessible to me. These kinds of videos give people like me an opportunity to experience these important historical sites. Especially when you intersperse aids like battle maps and photographs this is extremely informative.
I love this format! As a map guy, I would love a pane showing a GPS (or pseudo-GPS) track of where you are and which way you are looking. Really enjoyed this!
Garry, I like this approach with the the 2 cameras, and I am very fascinated with history of the Battle of Gettysburg, especially on the second day near Devils Den, Houck's Ridge, Triangular Field, The Wheatfield and The Peach Orchard
Love this new style that you produced! The cameras are great, a little more wider view and crisp clear videos. And the way you two worked together, not over lapping one other when talking. Great job! Makes me want to visit and do some low light photography.
Great job Garry and Kris!! Video was great and I always love what you guys are doing. Keep up the awesome work you and all ABT is doing!!! Really looking forward to seeing your videos for your next road trip of the Atlanta Campaign that will be happening very soon. Keep up the great work and always stay safe and thank you for all your doing to preserve our nation's battlefields.
I lived near Gettysburg for over 27 yrs and visited it regularly. Such an amazing and somber place to visit. Now moved to Nashville and miss Gettysburg greatly. Now its time to invest time in this areas rich CW history.
I really enjoyed the two-camera technique and am so glad you were able to do this before Devil's Den closed for restoration. I was there the same day and was excited to see you two were filming it for everyone to experience. Well done!
Once again brilliant, for someone on the other side of the world who loved American history from my youth ,these videos are fantastic and give a great visual to the written history, please keep it up ,thanks
I enjoyed this new format for videos. In particular, I liked the split-screen format. (I'm glad you both held your cameras fairly steady and didn't swing them around too much, so there was little danger of vertigo!) I also enjoyed the fact that you showed the battlefield in a season other than high summer. I've been lucky enough to visit Gettysburg, but only during summer vacation. The rocks and pathways all look different when the trees are bare and the cool light of spring floods over everything. And finally, I thought you gave viewers about the right amount of background information. I've enjoyed some recent videos with titles like, "95 Seconds on the Antietam Battlefield," which don't have a lot of audio. They're fun videos too, but I seem to need more than the visual panorama to make sense of what I'm seeing.
That was super amazing to see.. I love the way you two walked around and described the Devils den area and all the fighting that took place. Its just so hard to imagine what all of the soldiers from both sides had to endure. Ive been reading alot of books on Gettysburg and other civil war battles, i would hope to visit some of them some day. Keep up the great work
You are all great in front of the camera but it is nice to have a walking view of the battlefield while listening to the history. Thanks again, y'all are awesome!
We're going out there for Memorial Day and a few days after. Please show more of "then/now" of where the dead lay so we can note and respect this when we walk the trails. I saw one of your prior episodes where this was featured and found it very engrossing.
There is a book on the then / now of specific photos that were taken there, if that helps. It is called ' Gettysburg A Journey In Time ' by Frassanito. It has some of the Devil's Den locations.
Greetings from Central Ohio! Great video fellas! As always, you bring such a sense of knowledge, energy and excitement to the effort, yet a healthy respect for what happened on that property. Keep’em coming!
Thank you very much for this video! It's been a few years since I visited (shout out to Jim Vos from Grand Rapids Christian Schools!) and it's fun seeing it again. What might be really interesting would be to have a split screen where the top is the camera and the bottom is an map showing where you are and the direction the camera is pointed. It might help to get a better understanding of the layout of the battle.
Firstly, overall I liked this approach. The two cameras approach seemed to give a greater depth of perspective. the fact that one camera was roughly where the other had just been suggested a battleline (or such). Imagine looking down the line of your company and at the other end is your mate (best buddy) from childhood, both facing the enemy, so also helped with the sense of humanity. Soldiers did not fight alone. The split screen i found distracting. Showing the view or feature from one camera point and then the other, again great perspective and immersion. If i wasn't in the UK I'd be planning a journey there right now. The banter (chat) between the two presenters worked well. Obviously very knowledgeable and enthusiastic historians/curators i think you could have set them out at dawn and they'd still be talking at Dusk (smiles). So again the two cameras works in that it gives two presenters, one can reposition whilst the other informs. The length of the video, 25 to 35 minutes is a good length for a video of this type. The maps, whilst i like maps they did not give a full view and made the encounter seem isolated from the greater scope of the battle. it would have been nice to see Devils den in relation to Gettysburg town then and now. Pointing it out, the den and its locations, in relation to surrounding features, very nice. So overall great, a good direction, no pun intended, for the composition of your videos.
Strongly endorse and appreciate this approach. Live 2,000 miles away. I want to see the battlefield. Don’t need the stories about individuals that permeate many presentations. I can find those stories all over the internet and from books. Have never had a good look at Houcks Ridge, or the Rose Woods, from the inside. Plus, the running commentary is awesome content.
Visited the battlefield in August of 2022 for the first time. The Den, and Little Round Top was closed when we visited. I love the split view with the Go Pros. Thanks for all the great content in your videos.
Love this new perspective of "walking around" a specific location on the battlefield. Hopefully there will be more of these types of videos coming in the future!
You can find videos like the trolley ride in San Francisco before the earthquake and the intent of the filmographer was certainly what you are doing here. Future generations will look at this and marvel.
Another awesome video! Thank you for the continued dedication to teach everyone about these great battlefields. I feel like we are getting a personal tour where we can later visit these locations and have a better understanding of how the battle unfolded. Definitely very much appreciated and your guys knowledge is obvious second to none.
I really liked this video. I like your walking format to visit different areas. I suggest you do it again where it makes sense. I first visited Gettysburg with my parents about 1960 and a couple of years later on an 8th grade field trip. I visited infrequently over the past years. The last time was about 25 years ago. Due to medical reasons, I am not able to travel. But I have always been interested in history and like your channel and I am subscribed.
I love these videos. I wish we had them when we visited Gettysburg. It would of been a great guide to use. Will definitely be useful on our next visit . Thank you for what you are doing.
Thank you for your passion gentlemen! I can’t say that I prefer one format over another. I just love watching anything you put out. Keep up the great work. I look forward to all of the contact you put forth.
I absolutely love your video series, and yes, this is a great POV and way to tour a battlefield, especially one as large as Gettysburg. Have you looked into integrating Drone coverage as well?
Well done guys and yes, I do like the idea of the split screen with the different views, keep up the great work and just know it is greatly appreciated. .
First, thank you for documenting the before of this park service project. It will be an important part of the history of this area of the battlefield going forward. Second, I love this format showing different views and perspectives simultaneously on the screen. One suggestion though. Is there a way to label which camera view belongs to which person? Perhaps initials in the upper right corner of the screen? For me, it makes a difference when viewing both of the views on the screen at the same time. I can then put into perspective the location of the videographer in relationship to the view and in relationship to the battlefield. I hope that makes sense.
Love the dual cameras and wow they are hi def! It is great to hear the one two punch of Garry & Kris who have different perspectives of the same scene while both cameras are panning separately. This seems to be a much more dramatic and immersive experience!
Thank you Garry and Chris for the "surround" split screen video. Although I wish I was walking the battlefield in person, this is about as close to that as you can get.
Loved the tour Garry and Kris!!! It's folks like yourself that got me to come to Gettysburg and hope to come back when the whole park opens back up!. Just to listen to you'll talk about the battles and what happened there in 3 days I feel like I can see the battle happen. to also know that both of my Gr-Grandpa's were there fighting one on the 7th New Jersey Volunteers infantry and my other Gr-Grandpa with the 2nd Appomattox Raiders Calvary. Just see were they were fighting and the monument's were nothing shy of tears for me and all that was spilled there and lost. Luckily both survived it! So THANKS SO MUCH! And to the Battlefield Trust!!!
Really appreciate these tours Garry and Kris. I live in the UK so visiting these wonderful places is hard to do. These give a great perspective of the battle field. Understand the two screen idea and would probably watch it twice to get the best value from the film as I find my attention flitting from one to the other screen and getting disoriented! I wonder if it might be helpful to have a compass 8n a corner so we know what direction you are pointing the camera? Generally I am very much in favour of these walks. Thank you
Love this video. I definitely like videos where we can get a perspective of what the troops were seeing. We appreciate you and the other hosts, Garry, but wow does it compliment your narrative to see the battlefield from the camera's perspective. I would love to see more of these.

I would like to see some drone video for orientation.
@@stevejette2329
Drones are not allowed in National Parks
@@horizon42q Did not know that. Thanks !
More of this kind of presentations please. This video was great.
You all are simply THE BEST. Thank you so much for all that you do to preserve our U.S. heritage and history.
Loved this approach. Please do more of these. I finally went to Gettysburg last summer after wanting to go for 40 years and I cannot wait to go back. Great job you two.
Great video! I've spent a few days at Gettysburg, and it was a fantastic experience for anyone interested in history.
Do you have any recommendations for nearby hotels and tour companies. Is it worth renting a car?
Thank you! Love this video format
Love the walkthroughs. As someone from Australia who’s unlikely to ever get to Gettysburg, these provide a really immersive experience

Love the video! Please shot more like this and please don't stop!
Really like the two cameras. You get to see more and learn more. Keep up the great work you are doing♥️it.👍😊
Outstanding! More please. Thanks for all your organization does. Glad I am a member!
Thanks for your support!
I got seriously into the Ken Burns series and the movie 'Gettysburg'. My confusion was a lack of North, East, West, South directions and multiple camera directions.
Only a visit to the battlefield cleared it up. Amazing place.
Great job lads. Looking forward to see how the rehabilitation project turns out.
Thanks for sharing this, nice to see it this time of year!
Thanks for this "before" video of Devils Den. I hope you will do another in 6 months to show the "after" view of all these shots.
My first cousin 4 generations removed was Sgt David Alva Barnett of Company B 99th PA.
Having grown up in NJ, we visited and vacationed in Gettysburg many times. Great to see Chris and Gary again. Thank you!

Fabulous concept! Do more!
Really well done! Thank you!
What a great approach to seeing the area! More such “walk arounds”, please!
I lived near Gettysburg for over 27 yrs and visited it regularly. Such an amazing and somber place to visit. Now moved to Nashville and miss Gettysburg greatly. Now its time to invest time in this areas rich CW history.
My Great Great Great Grandfather attacked Devil's Den on that fateful day. 17th Georgia Infantry Regiment. May the fallen never be forgotten.
I really enjoyed the two-camera technique and am so glad you were able to do this before Devil's Den closed for restoration. I was there the same day and was excited to see you two were filming it for everyone to experience. Well done!
Your narration is priceless and vital. Thanks again for this walkthrough.
Very much enjoyed this video. Thank you for doing these programs.
Once again brilliant, for someone on the other side of the world who loved American history from my youth ,these videos are fantastic and give a great visual to the written history, please keep it up ,thanks
Great video Chris and Gary. Well done. The 2 camera angle approach was terrific.

Great job as usual guys, many thanks!
Fascinating, thank you! Can’t wait to visit again after renovations (ooos I meant rehabilitation).
One of my favorite videos is where you blend in old photos on location it really brings it home, great job!
Greetings from Central Ohio! Great video fellas! As always, you bring such a sense of knowledge, energy and excitement to the effort, yet a healthy respect for what happened on that property. Keep’em coming!
Enjoyed all your videos so far. Nice that people can hear real and not politicized history.
Thanks Garry & Kris - enjoyed this style/content plus favorites like Garry's "Thing" hand...
Thank you for this. Great views and commentary!
Nice! You guys are great at what you do and my repeat viewings of your work is testament to that fact. Always looking forward to the next one!
Thank you very much for this video! It's been a few years since I visited (shout out to Jim Vos from Grand Rapids Christian Schools!) and it's fun seeing it again.

Fantastic walk and video! Wonderful for folks unable to visit the battlefield. The video gets me excited for another trip to Gettysburg.

Enjoyed the 2 camera approach. How about having on Chris Gwinn to explain the actual rehab that will take place. What are they doing?
Visited the battlefield in August of 2022 for the first time. The Den, and Little Round Top was closed when we visited. I love the split view with the Go Pros. Thanks for all the great content in your videos.
Love this new perspective of "walking around" a specific location on the battlefield. Hopefully there will be more of these types of videos coming in the future!

Thank you very much 😀. I love this style of camera -work from you 👍😀

I love these videos. I wish we had them when we visited Gettysburg. It would of been a great guide to use. Will definitely be useful on our next visit . Thank you for what you are doing.
Wish I had watched this prior to my visit in April of 24. Thanks for the great information and footage.
Love this video. Wheelchair-bound in AZ., these videos allow me to “visit” and visualize the terrain. Thank you!
Nice job! Same approach I've been taking with my videos, but on a more intimate scale. Looking forward to seeing more!
This format with Garry and Chris is an amazing way to do this!
Check out the tour at Kennesaw Mountain in the same style: th-cam.com/video/4gqjS_DMkI4/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for your passion gentlemen! I can’t say that I prefer one format over another. I just love watching anything you put out. Keep up the great work. I look forward to all of the contact you put forth.
Excellent. You two are vituosos. The next best thing to being there.
I absolutely love your video series, and yes, this is a great POV and way to tour a battlefield, especially one as large as Gettysburg. Have you looked into integrating Drone coverage as well?
Yes but it’s generally not allowed in National Parks.
Super - more please!
Great new format! I'd love to see more "walkabouts" of other battlefields.
Great video guy's it's was a pleasure to meet both you that day :)
Well done guys and yes, I do like the idea of the split screen with the different views, keep up the great work and just know it is greatly appreciated. .

Truly unbelievable video of an unbelievable place.
Imo,the 2 camera approach was much better than what y'all normally do!
Thank you for the upload.
Visited Gettysburg last year, Devil's Den was blocked off for restoration. The hilite of my visit was
running into Gary at the Pennsylvania monument
I liked the tour. I've said it before y'all have the coolest job in the world. Been to Gettysburg years ago hope I get to go back.
Thank you Garry and Chris for the "surround" split screen video. Although I wish I was walking the battlefield in person, this is about as close to that as you can get.
Thanks from Sydney!
That was awesome guys, thanks 👍
It's that time of year! The battlefield walk season!
I enjoyed it, I've been able to visit there many times in the past but I very much enjoyed this tour. How about Spotsylvania some time
Loved the tour Garry and Kris!!! Best job Gary!
Love this video. I definitely like videos where we can get a perspective of what the troops were seeing. We appreciate you and the other hosts, Garry, but wow does it compliment your narrative to see the battlefield from the camera's perspective. I would love to see more of these.
Good to hear! Our editor is finishing a Little Round Top tour as we speak.
You guys are AWESOME 👍🏼😎
THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS VIDEO 📹.
I APPRECIATE IT IS VERY INFORMATIVE
ABOUT THE BATTLE.
Irony: planned a trip to Gettysburg and it just so happens that this location as well as little round top will be closed. So I appreciate this video tour.
