To me its extremely sad at how conflicts within the family could make a young person feel they had to do this to feel peace. 💔Ita hard to understand unless youve been through it. As a child i always wanted to run away in the woods where no one could find me.
Chris's desire and drive to go to Alaska reminded me of the recent upturn of average climbers paying dearly to summit Everest It used to be only the most skilled and experienced climbers who tackled the highest summits . Nowadays people who dont have the skills and expertise can be , for a price , hauled up with supplies , oxygen, ropes and sherpas It seemed to me , reading JK's book and watching the SP movie that Chris was ill prepared for his solo venture into the wilds of Alaska . He needed expert help and didn't seek it out Apparently he succumbed to malnutrition early in his trip and ultimately starvation in his final weeks. A sad tale - he came across in the movie and subsequent documentaries as a likeable young man
The situation in tours to the top of Everest is unsettling for sure. I was personally torn between liking him and despising him from the view the movie gave me into his life. I think it did a great job of balancing all of that out IMHO. Thank you for commenting!
This is what gets me about this guy. He was reported to be a smart guy so why did he think that he could survive with minimal supplies and think it wouldn’t get him killed? At least with a map, he could have been able to know that further down the river bank, there was a safer way to cross. Let this be a cautionary tale as to what happens when you’re ill prepared for this kind of adventure
I am captivated by his story. I thought he should of saved his money tho but that is just the stigma that shrouds the man. I have watched the movie and read the novel. I still wanna learn about the guy to this very day. His story helped me get through homelessness so I am forever thankful. I found out about it by watching a television programme called disappeared.
So wished this guy educated himself into survival skills, he did not use a map. Should have known about that river ahead of time. So sad but admire is adventerious spirit.

Chris’s sister spoke about the decision to move the bus and she agreed with it because she understood that it was causing safety concerns

Perhaps a healthy dose of arrogance too?
Arctic Daughter is an excellent documentary where the outcome and journey in Alaska wilderness was just amazing
Thank you! I'll check it out!

@@Michael-2986 incredible!
Chris wanted to be surrounded by God. For our Heavenly Father is the creator of ALL.

That's the conflict I feel about this as well.
They actually air lifted the bus out of the stampede trail.
Yep! Talked about that in the episode. :)
Poacher,?how people love thier servitude,am sure that was one of the things he was trying to escape from
I'm sure it was.
The guy was an idiot!!! Couldnt survive 3 months in the summer!!! The bus is a crypt, not a shrine! Cmon people look at the real picture!
He was actually running from trauma and pain Try and think outside your box since no one is there but you 🤣
Why is there a bus in that wilderness? How did it get there?
Pretty crazy right? It was originally put there by hunters, or so it's been said.
It’s a good story to research, what it did and where it was first, then in the woods, and now preserved in its new location.
