      I had to Google how to spell mucous because I was genuinely confused 😅
      I know typos happen all the time and normally I can understand them no matter what but this time I'm like okay, that's not how I spell mucous and if anyone should know how to spell mucous it's got to be Mary and Peter! I have a traumatic brain injury and encephalopathy so it's not at all unusual for me to get confused like that 😅

      I always use predictive text and/or Grammarly. It let's me know when there is a mistake. I almost always check before I hit send but I've made many mistakes like that and I was in honors English, taking college English classes in high school but my IQ and brain capacity has seriously diminished since then! I often forget how to spell simple words and it's scary! If it weren't for the computer or phone I type on, it would most likely be a mess of mistakes 😄

    Peter needs to start adding "how to treat your significant other" or "how to support your loved ones when they're struggling" in some of these videos. I know many people that can learn from him as an example.

    • @jessicah3450
      @jessicah3450 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I was a caretaker to my dad and my grandmother. It is important to take extra care of yourself so that you can care for your loved one. I let my own health slide and ended up in the ER, so that was not good. I wasn’t perfect at it, but you do what you can, and there is help out there (support groups, hospice, home health workers, social workers, etc) who can help too. In my dad’s case when he had cancer, looking back I wish we would have utilized palliative and hospice care earlier. But of course you pick what is appropriate for the person’s point in their illness.
      I also think Peter’s pastoral work and being able to take breaks with his own hobbies helps. It seems like he and Mary have reached a perfect balance, and I think they also have support from friends and family. They both seem very emotionally strong.
      If you don’t have outside support or outlets (many of us lose contact with friends and family when we are dealing with illnesses because “people don’t want negativity in their lives” or whatever) it can get overwhelming. My advice then would be to talk to a therapist. You are a strong person by being there for your loved one when they need you, but you can’t forget to take care of yourself too.

    • @shadowfigure3749
      @shadowfigure3749 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jessicah3450 I'm talking about how he treats her. How to treat a person who is chronically ill or struggling with an illness. I said I know people that can learn from his example. Your comment has nothing to do with mine, I think you missed my point completely. I'm chronically and terminally ill, I would like to be treated better by my "loved ones." I don't want or need advice on how caregivers cope. Peter can set an example by talking about being kind, understanding, and supportive of someone who is dying.

    • @shadowfigure3749
      @shadowfigure3749 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hence the "how to treat your significant other" or "how to support your loved ones when they're struggling." Not "how do you cope with taking care of someone who is sick." I thought I was pretty clear about that 🤔

    • @shadowfigure3749
      @shadowfigure3749 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's kind of hilarious because I posted about people not paying a damn bit of attention to what they're reading anymore before they jump in with a reply. They're just so eager to get their opinions and/or unsolicited advice, which you just gave, out there as fast as they can they read INTO the comment they're replying to, they don't READ the comment.

    In this video more than any other I see Peter’s pastoral heart. He listened to Mary, really listened, and was able to provide a second insight as to what she was saying. I’ve watched your journey for a couple of years, and have been so inspired by your strength and your weakness. No matter what your health, I’ve always seen the joy that you have in each other and with your audience. God bless you I what lies ahead and may God’s wisdom shine thru in your decisions.

    You are such an inspiration to all. I can’t imagine living with a chronic illness. Our youngest daughter was very sick from the day she was born till almost 3. I remember like it was yesterday when they mentioned cystic fibrosis could be causing her being so sick. I was relieved with her sweat test didn’t show anything but we still didn’t know why she was so sick. Thankfully a new specialist found that her esophagus was connected to her stomach correctly. So after 4 tries performing fundoplication surgery on her it finally worked. Unfortunately she was so small they had to perform all of those surgeries open instead of laparoscopically but in the end she was a fighter. Her body did learn how to burp again after several years but she is still unable to throw up. Caylin is now almost 23 and the scars on her tummy that were huge when she was little are almost non existent now and and she is as healthy as she can be raising her little boy.

    Happy Birthday Peter. Just got home from the Franklin Graham Northeast tour. It was awesome. David Crowder band did worship, Franklin preached and just as he finished and people accepted Jesus the sky’s opened with rain (water baptism). As we all ran to the cars they set off the firework display (huge) . Like Independence Day celebrating our independence with Christ. Great eventing. Everyone should go when the tour is in your area.

    I love this one so much I watched it twice, might be my favorite ever. I remember when I went for my neuropsych evaluation to figure out what had been wrong my whole life, (undiagnosed learning disability), one of the first things she (neuropsychologist) said to me was "This changes nothing about you." My disability changed everything about my circumstances, and I wish I could've heard in those million and one moments of my life collapsing around me that I was still who I had always been and that my value as a person had nothing to do with what I was losing. I don't think you can say this to someone enough and it's in times of existential crisis and uncertainty that we need reminded of it most.

    Good luck, Mary and Peter! You can do it! You are Mary not just that lady with Cystic Fibrosis. It bugs me when people define us by our illnesses. Even when I was very depressed and moody from being sick nearly everyday, I knew I was still in there somewhere. And who wouldn’t be depressed when they feel awful? I was still me inside. People tell me I am lazy when I am not feeling well, because I look okay. They don’t know how I feel inside and that I really want to be doing this and that, but I just can’t right now because my body has to focus a lot of energy on trying to get well. Bless you both 👐💕

    I love this message. I have been watching your videos for years. I'm have been constantly inspired by your positivity. October of 2017 my 27 year old daughter was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid leukemia (AML). She fought very hard and has been in remission since last June. However her body is very weak and she is constantly sick. Recently tests were done and confirmed that her immunoglobulin levels were dangerously low. The treatment is IVIG. I had my daughter, Elizabeth, watch several of your videos to ease her anxiety. I am so thankful we had you as a tool for our situation. Elizabeth had her port in and a week later her first treatment. It helped Elizabeth to know what was going to happen from watching you.....again a gift you gave us. Unfortunately, a blood clot has formed in the catheter so now she is in blood thinners and Tylenol for pain. Her next scheduled treatment might be pushed back of the clot remains. although this is a setback for sure, we are taking a note from your book in that...this is a process and your body needs to do what it needs to do. So from the bottom of my heart I want you both to know how much you have helped our family (many times) during a nightmarish time. I am so bless to have found your channel. I honestly believe I was guided to it before Elizabeth got sick so in would see how positivity influences outcomes. I held strong to that for the 9 months she was in the hospital. You will never know how much you prepared me for the worst year of my life. The things I learned in your channel, while not due to CF

    Well said, Mary and Peter❤️🥰. Our chronic illnesses, although they impact our lives in many ways, do not need to define who we are. We are much more than our illnesses. Thank you both for you kind words and your great example of love and understanding.🥰🥰

    I have become so attached to hearing from you and Peter (and seeing Ollie) that I look forward to it every day. You are the sweetest couple and your love is such an example of what loving someone through the sickness and health really exemplifies. I love the way Peter looks at you and cares for you with such sincerity. May God continue to cover your sweet family through all your days ahead and allow you to Bless us, through sharing your life perspective as you forge ahead.

    I just want to say thank you, I needed this video and the reminder that I'm still me despite my circumstances. I have been chronically and terminally ill since I was 10 and I'm now 27 with 26 surgeries and just getting sicker. It's hard. I hope and pray that this week at the hospital and all your testing went as well as possible, i have only been a subscriber for about a year but you both are always in my prayers! Keep having courage and know how many people care about you!

    Awww Mary....you and your family are a gift from God. Thank you for helping my girls and I. You often say what's been on my heart and mind but far more eloquently. Thank you for being a part of our world ( even if you don't know us)

    Mary and Peter you r both so so incredibly strong regardless of what life chucks at you, and ur statement of still being u despite all this truly resonates with me. After watching your Vlogs since day one, it gave me hope in that having a chronic illness, particularly a chronic lung disease, doesnt mean you are not you. It doesnt define you. Thanks to you guys, I decided to set up a youtube channel with my wife, to share our journey with chronic illness and to show others that it's ok not to be ok, there is a community of people that r going through similar situations and are there for you. It's my dream to have a channel with as many followers as you guys so I can help and support others with every day chronic illness life. Thank you so much for sharing your story, your life and tour heart with us xx

    i havent watched yalls vlog in a very long time, ngl. but you came up in my recommended again after a year, and i subscribed to see what yall are up to. this is the first video i seen since then, and gosh dang i needed it. this morning, i couldnt open a jam jar, and my grandpa had to help. i often feel guilty bc i should be taking care of them, being in their 60s, not the other way around. i often feel pathetic that at 19 i cant do most things my friends can. but this made me feel a lot better. now i cant remember why i left yalls channel in the first place. youtube may have unsubbed me, idk. but im just glad i found yall again. thank you so much 💕
