I love this little lamp for ad-hoc lighting in any number of situations. So good, I ordered a second one within an hour of receiving the first. I agree with all the points in your review, but forgive the few limitations (for the money) because it's completely flicker/banding free with full electronic shutter exposures too! No need to worry about it. Wonderful.

At least as far as the bag size aspect, looks to be a good size if you need to drop the whole light, grip and batteries in without disassembling, no? Assuming the internal dividers van be removed/moved or can get pushed down.

I do street / location model shoots at present I use Rotolight Led's . I like the look of this BUT ..the battery pack looks like an after thought .. & not very practical to use & if it rains ? I fear it would fail miserably . make one of these lights with an integral battery , I might be interested .
Yeah, this design definitely has its ups and downs. I don’t think the pack is an afterthought so much as an attempt at versatility...but still comes off as a bit sloppy looking.

But even though Nanlite makes very powerful lights, they suffer from very loud fan noise, poor design for accessories, and proprietary mounts. There is Nanlite FS 200 announced, which seems to be quite powerful budget light in a relatively small package. What is your experience with Nanlite products? Thanks.
Unfortunately I was unaware of the Forza 60 when I made this review. (Although it’s been pointed out to me many times now. Haha). I have a pair of large Nanlite LED sticks and they’re fun, but rather poorly designed, though a good value. (I have a review up on them). They’re essentially similar to Godox in my mind, in that regard. Sometimes creating devices of somewhat questionable quality that are actually strong contenders which shake up the market. But overall my biggest issue with this form factor, as stated in the video, is that the applications where you need to be battery powered but only need 60 watts are pretty narrow. When dreaming up shoots to have to put this light through its paces, I kept having to stop myself because it wouldn’t have enough light. Maybe I’m just overthinking things 🤷🏻♂️😏
@@WesPerry China is selling direct, I support that. There is no service on lights. I have had ton's of lights, never one service ! Dealer's in other States might as well be in China ! Direct is the way to go !
Hi, been trying to find some good info on the ML60 for a while now, specifically in regards to power. The specs on this light, as well as the results from some reviewers, are absolutely crazy. Godox specifies 13,000 lux with the reflector at 1 meter, and Curtis Judd here on YT measured 17,000 lux. If this is correct, then this light is actually as bright as the Aputure 120D mark ii light, despite being less than half the size and prize! Given that most people agree on the 120d mark ii as a good key light for most cases unless you need really wide shots, I find it strange to see that this ML60 is being demoted to a "hair light". I trust you are aware that watts are not a reliable indicator of light output for LEDs, as their efficiency is so good and continues to get better through technological development. Did you do any output measurements of this light? And did you actually try to use this as a full-blown key light? The outdoor examples you showed seemed to be using the ML60 as a backlight, with a flash for key light. It's hardly fair to compare a continuous light and a flash in terms of output, right?
I did try it as a full blown key light, but find it’s not quite enough. One thing that Godox seems to have learned recently is that people are fans of putting light meters in front of lights with stock reflectors mounted on them 😏 So their latest LED lights have come with stock reflectors that are brighter and more focused than previously, which artificially increases the output measurements. But once you just put it in a softbox, the total power is simply the total power. The ML60 likely does have a slightly more efficient LED than the 120D, just because it’s a newer design, but it still simply can’t be as powerful when all things are equal.
Not without some other non-specific battery sled no. This is only designed for dual NP batteries. It’s a pretty generic barrel connector though (16-19V standard), so it wouldn’t be terrible difficult to find a v-mount sled to fit, and I suspect it would still work with the 14V of a v mount battery. I obviously can’t guarantee this, though, as I haven’t tried it myself.
Yeah, but as far as I know it’s the same remote as the other Godox lights, which I have a couple of, and it’s kindof terrible anyway. I think I did mention that.
Weeylite recently came out with the Ninja 200 and 300 which are along the same lines. I don’t find them quite as versatile (testing them now, not as compact or as simple, which has its ups and downs), or as well built, but they definitely do the job.
Unlike flash lights, the current generation of continuous LED lights are just still too bulky. At a smaller size than the ML60, we can get satisfactory power out of the AD300pro, enough for many use cases. But for the ML60, it's just mediocre. I guess we still need to wait for some technical advancement, for LED lights to be truly portable.
@@WesPerry Speaking of battery technology, I wonder why no one makes a light that utilizes usb-c as power source. Usb-c can have 100w output nowdays and we all have large power banks. Why keep using those bulky v-mount batteries...
Most lights require more power than that. This one is a bit unusual for using only 60W. And usb c power supplies that offer 100W are still few and far between, while c cables that supply that 100W are even harder to find. Similarly, there are very few usb batteries that can supply that kind of output. The spec is a bit too much of a mess for that at this point, unfortunately. Much easier to use a standard battery caddy with Sony or Canon spec batteries like this right now. I do agree that the convenience would certainly be nice, though ;)

I don’t think they really care where you post them for the most part. They just want to know where your primary source of things will be. As far as the “favourite things” goes, I think it’s called a storefront? It’s essentially a list, like any other you can make on Amazon, which you add things to, and then manage on the back end. To be honest it’s incredibly cumbersome and doesn’t work well at all. I’m hoping they’ll fix it up someday.

I can’t find the lumens for the ML60, but it clocks 13,000 lux at 1m, while the Forza is 11,950 at 1m. Essentially the same. Which isn’t surprising, since they’re both COB LED’s at approx 60w power.
I totally agree it doesn’t seem like a cost effective light, which Godox is known for, for 60w of light...and the accessories to make it work inside, uugh.
It’s rated for 90 minutes at 100% on two NP-F970 batteries. BUT I didn’t talk about this because depending on your batteries, you’ll get wildly different runtimes. And it doesn’t come with batteries, so that’s not Godox’s responsibility to be accountable for that. I got anywhere from 45mins to 80mins on a pair of 970’s, likely because none of mine are brand new, and some are lower quality than others. But also, it can be run on 550, 950, 990, 330 etc batteries, or even a mixture of those, so in order to truly address this topic it would have added several minutes to the video.

It’s still delightfully compact. Depends on how you use it when it comes to whether or not it will be bright enough.

The SL150ii is currently selling for $30 less than the ML60, and has nearly 3x the power! It’s just not battery powered.
For battery powered, the VL150 is currently selling for $300, which I think is just $40 more than the ML60, and again almost 3x the power.

Battery lasts 30-60 minutes at full power, but it can be run on it’s included AC adapter as well.

It’s more an advancement in battery technology we need to make these things portable. There’s definitely a huge power limitation here.
