Pretty sure they were there to watch, there a few celestials that their job is to watch, report back to arishem to be judged.
Interesting video, but honestly, I think the main reason they're there is probably because Taika Waititi said something like "Y'know what'd be fun? If there were a couple of those Celestials just like, peeking through the window when Thor flies out of it!"
It doesn't necessarily explain why Kevin Feige let him use them, but that's still my guess!

You’re right. The only reason they are there is because the writers (if you can call them that) decided it would be fun or cool. They serve no other narrative or backstory reason for being there.
Agreed. Feige seems to be losing control of his tightly manicured MCU. As more and more creators are pushing their tangents on the narrative, some better some worse. There's even been some minor continuity issues because of it. First saw this when The Eternals plotline was a rushed hodgepodge that was unbecoming of a previous phase Feige production. It seemed like DC filmmaking.
Dunno if he's doing this willingly, or maybe he's just too busy to do it all. Maybe also taking in Marvel TV was a mistake he's overstretching.
Sounds about right... During the Infinity saga, Easter eggs actually meant something, and had some type of foreshadowing attached to them.
Because this multiverse saga is very blase on continuity, Those 2 celestials Peaking in from outside was probably nothing more than just that.

My perspective is that the celestials were likely there to discuss and negotiate Judgment of Earth from the Gods protecting it after events of Thanos and the Eternals as well as Scarlet Witch. Zeus’ post scene action is likely a last attempt to hold onto any link to humanity before turning over Earth to the Celestials which will likely attract the attention of the Silver guy.

This is actually a good one..Too much happening between the heroes of earth that connects already with the Gods and reaching out celestials, they ain't just gonna stand there and watch until the mortals reach them..
There was a planet judged but we don’t know why or who. When the collector explained the infinity stones to the guardians there was a celestial eson with the power stone in a staff that destroyed a planet along with its people by slamming the staff and destroying the planet. Just a correction.
I think they were there because Gorr is killing Gods with the Necro Sword which was used to cut off a Celestial's head. This would imply that Knull is in the MCU.

I don't think the MCU ever established a definition of what actually makes a god? I always wandered during Thor 4 when Gorr says all gods will die, how does he even know who is a god and who isn't? Is Jane Foster a god after she became mighty thor? Is Valkyrie a god? Thanos? What defines a god?
My theory is similar to what is already commonly said but with a twist. Definition of a god is based on amount of cosmic energy one can possess and wield. Jane is there due to her having the powers of thor when she died and that makes her a god. As she is an asgardian goddess she had entry to valhalla because she is like honorary asgardian and not because she was a goddess part. Jane had cancer possibly due to thor emitting too much cosmic radiation while in close contact with her on daily basis. Possibly also why power of thor through mjollnir wasn't ever going to heal her in the mcu movie since that same radiation is what caused the cancer. Asgardian people who aren't normally called gods might also all have much higher levels of radiation immunity compared to normal humans and likely wielding much higher levels of cosmic energy like their "gods" hence why they don't get cancer from their royal family.

There has to be something far more intrensic that links them to the concept they represent than just energy manipulation.

Yes, but with the MCU we have to always remember that comic book lore and history often doesn't hold true. Marvel Studios has completely changed a ton of stuff in the MCU to completely contradict the comics, it's a very different universe. So many comic book facts aren't facts in the movie universe.
But yes in the comics Celestials are the most ancient beings still around, far more powerful than any of the gods of Earth pantheons like Norse, Egyptian, Olympian etc.
this fact is still true because marvel have one multiverse at a time and all marvel content is in the same multiverse
@@michaelangel6165 it's arguable whether the MCU (which us technically199999 despite it being called 616 in Multiverse of Madness and Feige confirming that this designation will continue to be used going forward) has its own multiverse. The point is that the MCU movies often don't follow the history or lore of mainstream 616 comics, they take place in a different reality altogether.
Ok here’s the thing. Even if their not meant to be there, the only beings that could get those two outta there would be at least two other Celestials. Also they definitely wanted to check up on the gods

I was going to say the same thing right before it got brought up in this clip. That the 2 celestial‘s may be treated as gods by some planet or planets people which makes them gods and they are merely sitting in on the meetings however they cannot fit in the building so maybe they have to stay outside and there are speakers or tech or god powers that they use to be gods and a part of the meeting of gods.

I just wanna know why their pulling a thanos and not giving them one defined style: love and thunder had them as the first celestial ever seen in the MCU ESPN in guardians of the galaxy where they look like advanced androgynous robot people but in the eternals movie they seem more elements of a type of rock that is the foundation of their body. They did this with thanos in the first avengers movie with his face looking pink compared to his other appearances, then guardians and age of ultras making him more purple with his comic accurate suit and wide bodied frame, then came infinity war and endgame where he’s purple, has his least “Butt chin” and they slim him down to have a human realistic frame so he just looks like a extra large man instead of him having a body that’s completely inhuman. What’s with that?? I expect that of the MCU in the infinity saga when they were beginners but this is their second sage being the multiverse that I assume they planned heavily out so why the inconsistency??

I think that the two celestials are there because due to the evolution of civilization they will encounter a religion of sort and they use those gods to allow the civilizations to thrive with thought and philosophy to advance that races population and evolve them faster to create newer celestials

They are all gods not GOD ego was meant to be a weird celestial that somehow wasn't born by devouring a planet and all the life on it. That's why it took him millions of years to gain intelligence and formulate a body. He was definitely the weakest of all the celestial but he is still above Odin, Thor and all the gods in the mcu.

Or maybe the 2 celestials are kind of considered the top and the Gods of celestials as one looks for potential planets and land to bear the celestial the surveyor and the other is in charge of putting celestials on the planet and the populace to give this celestial the energy to grow, you would think that they are kind of the creators, Nurtures and growers of the celestials which would be the gods !

Maybe their larger role is kidnapping lesser Gods and turning them into the Eternals to serve them. Notice that Arishem removes their memories so that they wont even remember they are Gods. Thena (Athena) from Greek mythology is now serving Arishem and I suspect Zeus conspired with these Celestials to remove her from Olympia.

Well, no. Arishem literally explains to Cersei that they are super advanced androids. He made them that way so that they are incapable of evolution. While doing this he shows her the assembly line where they are made. Even shows her an unfinished version of herself. That movie also explains that basically all of the heroic myths humanity created were based on the Eternals. The story of Icarus was created by Sprite when they lived in Athens. Which, in the MCU, was named after Thena. Arishem basically just wipes their hard drives after each mission, because they are nothing more than sentient computers. A very advanced artificial intelligence. They aren’t Gods or anything in the movies, just super advanced very human like, androids.
Nope. Eternals are engineered by the celestials to look after their experiments. The eternals existed with the olympians and actually agreed with the olympians to be their representatives on earth. Then the humans started seeing the eternals as the gods and that pissed off the olympians. The eternals then traveled out of earth and colonized titan and then became known as the titans. Thanos is an eternal which the mutant gene, which made me more stronger than the rest of the eternals/titans. While the eternals were made by celestials, The olympians basically descended from the elder gods Gaia.

@@ultramorph6985 Marvel's Olympian gods inthe comics were always something of a mashup of the Greek and Roman. It's also Hercules, not Heracles and Mercury, not Hermes. I'm guessing maybe they went with Minerva to make a clear distinction between her and Athena, whose MCU mythology might be based upon the Eternal's Thena.
In the comics the two groups having similar but not identical names was actually a plot point, and a source of friction between them for awhile.
Are you using Omnipotence City and Olympus interchangeably? Because I don't think that they are.

theory....Marvel has in previous movie releases introduced characters out of linear time .. the celestial movie may be the last in the up coming series chronologically but it would be necessary for the introduction of the Celestial s as "world and universe makers" before the introduction of Galactus "devouror of worlds" which sets up an introduction of the Fantastic Four . also as a diversion from the comics Galactus is devouring worlds " full of life " aka an planet serving as incubator of celestial. making him feared by the Celestial s. in the comics the Watcher gives Reed Richards the means to destroy Galactus . the MCU has changed a good deal of story lines from the comics but the Celestial s could just as easily be the "gifters" in an attempt to keep Galactus from devouring Earth the incubator of Tiamat and this would also fit with the Knowhere dead celestial being " eaten " by Galactus.... just a theory

@@aarontempleton8047 the thing is, that’s never talked about in the movies at all. However after Thor 2 they straight up treat asgardians as gods. Loki isn’t even asgardian though. So he’s not actually a god at all

Sorry buddy but you keep referring to omnipotence city as Olympus. This is incorrect. They’re two separate locations in the comics, and in the MCU omnipotence city is meant for the most powerful gods and sky fathers where they congregate for the council of the gods. This includes celestial‘s and always has included celestial‘s. They both serve a purpose under the cosmic entities.

If you read comics a better explanation would be the Celestials were more or less acting as guards. The Celestials confronted Odin, Zeus and Vishnu acting as ambassadors of all Earths pantheons. The three gods combined couldn’t harm the Celestial at all and were forced to agree not to interfere with humanity or have their home dimensions destroyed. ( Asgard, Olympus, ext) This would also vibe with the movie as another reason the gods don’t get involved.
The Celestial in question was Arishem.
They are not on Olympus they are in omnipotent city...
