Michter's whiskey was originally made at Bomberger Distillery in Schaefferstown, Pennsylvania for 10 years before the Michter's bankruptcy during 1989. Most of the original Michter's left over barrels are use to blend older versions of A.H. Hirsch.
I agree with your point on ABV and going after your money. Does that make us whiskey snobs? When I first got into whiskey I would never try anything over 100 proof. Now I look for 100 proof or higher. If you can get your hands on Old Forrester 1920 go for it. 115 proof of deliciousness. Good review, thanks
Bourbon is Bourbon, whiskey or whisky is different in its process. But...Mitchers is quality. I have 2 Toasted Barrel bottles...not opened yet...I have opening anxiety.
@@NoNonsenseWhisky yes...I was lucky enough to have been served this jewel at a local pub which I might add was allotted 1 bottle a month. Gotta have took over. Most bottle are $350 to $400...I found 2 in New York State for $190 each. YATZEE! I will open one next October for sure...tonight it is small batxh US1 Bourbon. Cheers my friend.
I've tried all the Michter's range, apart from the age statements, including limited releases like the Toasted Oak. I like them but like everyone else here find them too expensive. This one is no more enjoyable than the Four Roses Small Batch at half the price.
Michter's is really overpriced outside of the US, as is the Rye, Sour Mash, etc. Like you said there are many better Bourbon's available for less. Four Roses Single Barrel is certainly a better choice IMO as well. The Barrel Strength Rye is fantastic though but also not cheap. Cheers
I don't blame you, but I do not think you are missing much, with the exception of the BS Rye. Pikesville 110 is similar to the BS Rye an just as good, however they are not giving that away either.

Nice review Vin, I tried this recently in the city and really enjoyed it

This is a good whisky, Vin, but. like you said it's a bit pricey except, of course, if you happen to be in some states in the USA.
We are paying $42 US but I am in Kentucky.
Great Review Vin...I was debating about picking this up the other day. Sounds like a purchase to hold off on despite it being good?
Can you get Makers Mark 101 there?
With some effort, but yes

Those toasted barrel bottles are incredible. Do yourself a favour and pop the cork.

That's a pretty good price!
@@NoNonsenseWhisky I should have bought more.

The Four Roses comes off a bit sweet no?
