Too much force on the guitar and it turned into a painful jam session. She cannot out sing Adam, but if you know him, you know he doesn’t outsing/upstage anyone. More than one run through the song was needed. It’s too bad, maybe a softer sound with a build up toward the end…..

Always liked Melissa Ethridge, i notice Adam had to adjust his voice to more raspy to tune it with her, he has a great ear and an awesome performer and singer of course.
Duets are for blending voices. Adam’s really good at that. Melissa’s voice is one of a kind- nobody could blend with her unless she scaled it back a bit.

I like him. But this was not him singing background, or following her at all. They just did two different versions of the song and she had to belt to be heard whenever they sang together, obviously the result wasn't good. Maybe it would've been better if her mike was closer or if they actually shared a mike, but it's kinda silly to complain about the original artists voice and instrument for not making him sound better, she could've (and has) carried the entire performance alone and it would've been (and is) amazing. It's sung around the world, in many languages, covered by hundreds of other musicians on stage and sung by countless millions in karaoke bars and talent shows for the past several decades. If Adam couldn't sing the song he wouldn't have the nerve to call himself a singer. But this time, he didn't perform well. He tried to sing like it was just him and it wasn't I'm an Adam fan, but I'm also a Melissa fan, and a music fan. I've been hearing this song my whole life and her voice is amazing. I was thinking how how he sounded until she got a line. When she started singing, it made him sound like a filtered radio edit. Like Micheal Buble or Celine Dion tryna sing a rock song. Good voice, bad fit.

Adam just went along with it because he’s always a very polite and gracious partner when dueting with someone. If he had really let loose, he would have blown her away.

Obviously, I'm an Adam fan; However not everything he does is perfect. He is singing over her. A duet should blend so the two voices complement and literally become one.
I don't get that he's singing over her. She backs off her mic quite often. They said they rehearsed the song once together and then decided to wing it.

I think this was an impromptu performance & under the circumstances ADAM did very well .. probably was given a song sheet before they performed & ADAM being the trouper that he is just sang it the best he could which IMO was damn good!! Lmao he can learn her song at the karaoke bar like everyone else but can't keep up with her real life stage presence, the fact that she basically had to scream to be heard over him is down to the sound crew and whoever put her mike all the way up there while he has his practically down his own throat. I love Adam's voice but he needs more experience working with other people. I think Melissa had too much confidence in his voice and ability to improvise, she should've just bit the bullet and let him rehearse with her a few more times.

I must have watched something different, that was awful! Two musicians who haven’t performed together before needed to rehearse more than once. When you choose to “organically” collaborate, you risk sounding like a cat fight by the end.
My sentiments exactly, Adam was definitely holding back, and you can tell that Melissa was definitely impressed! And those of us who really know Adam and his vocal range realized he held back when he didn't hit none of his soprano notes, 🤷♀️
