  • I bought what is called a skeleton grapple bucket for my Gehl skid steer. I had to add my Gehl hooks to the universal plate, and then it was time to try it out. The grapple is made by Jenkins Iron and Steel, I give a quick review of it towards the end of the video.

    My grandpa had a 1997 4625, that was the very first skid loader that I learned how to drive when I was little, but sadly when my grandpa passed away we had to sell all the equipment. I really want to get another one in memory of him

    Awesome, it is a nice unit, good choice. Heavy enough that it will never get hurt on the front of that skid steer, and if you need more power for the odd job like moving stone, it is strong enough to run on almost any tractor. Just remember, if the tractor has no front auxiliaries, open the grapple before disconnecting from the skids steer... not that I ever...lol. I bought a HLA ALO/Quicke to Universal adapter so I could run S/S toys on the loader tractor. Pricey, but I don't regret it, use it more than I thought I would. My grapple has similar cylinder pin to clamp geometry, good for squeezing brush initially, but near fully closed the cylinder has no mechanical advantage (it pushes forward, not down), larger rams wont really help. Changing pin geometry would, but then the grapple wont open as far. Thanks for the great content.

    Pretty fancy.. we have an old manure fork that I put a grapple on. Grapple isn't the best, but all scrap iron. Only issue is, the mounts are too high, so the skid steer can't get it down level with the ground. So I don't use it for manure.

      I figured it would still grab some dirt, but it shakes out well. If I had done this with a regular bucket, it probably would have taken twice as long and moved a lot of dirt away that didn't need to be. I can rake out the roots and branches, back blade to smooth it out. I'm really impressed.

    I seen the install of the axillary pump, but I didn't see when you got your switch remounted from the console to your T handle what did you do to get T handles switch did you buy a different switch or something also didn't find out where you had got that electric auxiliary pump that would have been nice to know cuz I've got to go just like you got and I love to do that to mine if you could let me know maybe where you purchased your electric pump auxiliary pump that would be nice I'd appreciate it much thank you and God bless

    • @ThatOliverGuyChris
      @ThatOliverGuyChris  ปีที่แล้ว

      I put an on/off switch on the console, and got a 2 button switch for a motorcycle handlebar from Amazon. It said it was rated for 10 amps, but that was optimistic at best. So I bought some simple automotive relays and picked up power for those off an unused circuit under the cab. I ran power to the motorcycle switch on the T bar, to the relays, and then from the relays to the electric over hydraulic valve. It works great. I bought the electric valve from Northern Hydraulics and had a link to it in the comments, but then they discontinued that particular model. It needs to be an open center model, I think I got one rated at 20 gpm.

    Thanks for making the Gail videos. I see in a few of them you mentioned you used to be a dealer (would love to have some of the knowledge you have about these)they seem like pretty tough machines. I bought a 4625 SX and it's the style with the circuit board behind the instrument panel for wiring it had a few burnt traces so I rewired the whole machine not hard mechanical injection Diesel and all. How would you tell if I had a bad injector or a bad injection pump plunger(Kubota v2203 i think). One of my cylinders isn't firing correctly (at anything but full throttle it looks like it's trying to jump out of the machine)I think.

    • @ThatOliverGuyChris
      @ThatOliverGuyChris  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      While it's running, loosen the injector line nut at the injectors one at a time. If the engine runs worse, that one is ok. Tighten it back up and try the other 3, one at a time. The cylinder that doesn't change much or at all is your bad one. I'd pull that injector and have it tested. If it is ok, then it must be in the pump.

      @@TheHamFam I got my attach plates through German-Bliss. They're a dealer in Illinois, but they have most of the Gehl stuff online. Yes, our sand, and mostly cherry and boxelder. I will say it did great with an elm because I could go around and rake the roots out around the tree and then tip it over. Hickory... I could get small ones by grabbing them, tipping up and lift/rock them out.

    Where did you get the electronic aux. Hydraulic Control setup? I have a foot pedal but that looks much better. Also, are you happy with the size/weight?

    • @ThatOliverGuyChris
      @ThatOliverGuyChris  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I pieced it together. I got the control valve from Northern Hydraulics, the base plate from Dalton Hydraulics, the fittings to add the power beyond to the valve from German-Bliss (Gehl dealer), I made the hoses, and I got the switch and relays from Amazon. Here's a video of my installing the valve. Not in the video is the motorcycle handlebar switch I mounted on the T handle to actuate the valve. It wasn't heavy duty enough to run the solenoids, so I added automotive relays. I've been very happy with the location, thumb operated, and I really like the grapple. I need to add some weight to the rear of the 4625, with the grapple weighing in around 900 pounds, that leaves a little less than 500 pounds lift capacity, so it can be tippy. I'm still glad I went with the heavy built Jenkins grapple, that thing is tough as nails and I have gotten a lot of work done with it this year.

    I've driven a skid steer once at work. Fun fun!😀

    • @ThatOliverGuyChris
      @ThatOliverGuyChris  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the injectors I have worked on, the spring is the only thing I can think of that can break. The needle can get stuck inside the body of the nozzle, but in that case the best thing is to replace the nozzle assembly. Some have a pin that goes between the spring and the adjustment screw. That could break. Is it something that parts are no longer available for?

Could be a pin that needs to be made. Will tell you what the final says as far as extra work.
