- Can you go dog sledding with no snow? Of course you can! We call this Dryland Mushing, and our huskies love it! Today we are going to show you how to use the Diggler Dog Scooter to have some fun mushing with your dog with no snow! You can also do this with a bike!
We use the Diggler Scooter. We have the Alpha Dog Scooter. UPDATE: Sadly, Diggler Dog Scooters went out of business a few years ago. If you are looking for a Dog Scooter, I advise you check out Pawtrecker or Gravity Scooters.

After your recommendation, I bought the urban harness for my dog! He's not a mushing dog (Shiba Inu), but I really like how the harness is designed. It's great just for walks and jogging, and I feel better knowing his neck is safe from injury since he's still crazy sometimes and pulls sometimes and gets zoomies. The urban harness also leaves a lot of room for free shoulder movement too, which I liked a lot.

I always just went on my rollerblades. Smokey's passed on now, but he used to pull me all around town like that. It was so much fun!

Awesome!!!!!! I bikejor with my dog and it is SO MUCH FUN!!! Unfortunately, not many people in my area really get out or be active, and there are NO dog friendly trails around, so we have to settle for the back roads and big farm fields, but we still love joring! I also really like Canicross and agility. During the winter, I walk people's dogs for them and Remi comes with me. We haven't gone hiking or camping yet, but hopefully in a few weeks we can get out and about! During the summer, Remi and I do mostly just long walks and jogs and Springering through town.
I think it's awesome that you guys have trails and areas around you that are dog-friendly and get to go on good long runs!
+Zera Falconer I don't have good areas to do that either. I don't even have a car/licence so I'm unfortunately very limited on what to do with my german shorthaired pointer (and they have a ton of energy too). I got a bike springer now, that's a little more save in town and people crossing our path aren't as afraid as when the dog is in front of the bike. But my plan for next year is getting a car/license and then we explore the country side!

+rachel cervantes Go to Siberian Husky Club of America and click on referrals/breeders and you will find a reputable breeder. In addition before you go out and get a Husky make sure you do your research in this breed and you are able to provide the mental and physical stimulation it needs to thrive. They are a lot of work and are a very intelligent and challenging breed.

We don't get snow period where I live so I'd planned to bikejore with my GSD's once my female is old enough, she is a working line with tons of energy I think she will love it. Can't wait!

I use roller blades with my husky and believe me he can pull like a train. So important that people never run the huskys near roads. Prey instinct can strike at any time. My Togo launched me into gravel when he see a squirrel in the park Lol. Keep up the awesome work Jessica you an insperation to husky owners. 😀
I live in Southern California, so it was hard to keep my husky active year round without him overheating. I found the best thing for him in such a hot climate was to have him pull me on roller skates every morning before the sun came up, or after it went down. It's super crazy to go 25 mph on rollerskates in the dark though!

I do mushing in competitions with 2 Huskies, Yana and Hawk. I race on a rig and it is fun and more stable. On a rig, you can have upto 9 huskies
I was thinking about getting into this with my Husky (?) hyper, curly tailed, no off button, mix, rescue. I went to the Alpine Outfitters site, and they have everything my heart could desire. There goes my bank account! 😅

Hi yes we do horses joering style plus ridden stuff loads vids on channel and facebook page - myself my english bull terrier tows offroad skateboards/mountain boards - same The AKA cross - ok board has braking system - i remove rear foot bindings as makes it easier to plus start board and get foot down for balance

I have been wanting to bike with my husky now that she is old enough, but was not sure what I needed to use to do so safely.. thanks so much for sharing....sadly were I live in Piedmont NC we barely get a couple inches of snow a year :( so I thought biking with my girl would be a nice alternative.
I live in Raleigh we get a lot of snow for here also it should snow here again I'm happy because my puppy well have her first snow

i live just on the other side of the narrows. i urban mush my lab mix and bulldogge with a bike. having the ability to pedel is nice. especially with all of our hills

+Stacee Zillmann Never. You should start when you can. :P
With my dog, I taught him turns by going in that direction and saying a command whenever we went on walks. So if we're going to turn a corner, I'd say "Gee" for right, and "Haw" for left, and I'd take him in that direction. If your dog has any idea what you're going on about, he should learn that pretty quickly. And pretty soon, you can say "Gee" or "Haw" and maybe he'll turn in that direction.
I also added a few of my own made-up commands like "Cross" to go across a street because I don't want my dog randomly crossing into traffic (regardless of how active/inactive the street is), and "Straight on" to ignore the side paths and keep going.

By the time she had all her needles and got fixed up "apparently" she was too old for puppy preschool which doesn't make any sense cos they can't be around other dogs before their needles??? so she knows the basics like sit and and shakes with both paws and lays down when's shes paying attention lol and when we walk when I pull up on the lead and harness I say sit and it's starting to work

I like to do cat boarding. You strap a wheeless skateboard deck to you cat's back and ride her. Its funny to watch La La laying prostrate trying to get up. LOL

I started teaching my dog mush commands while we were on walks. If we were turning left, I'd say "Haw"; and if we were turning right, I'd say "Gee".
If he stops and I want him to keep going, I'd keep going and say "On By" and then just make him keep going.
You could also just replace those commands with your own words, whatever is easier for you to use.

+Luke Griffin Go to 00:58 in the video. She goes over all of the terms. However, I agree, I would love a more in depth video about the terms and everything, but maybe that would be hard to do. I've sent them a message before, but never got a reply. If there is a video that explains everything more in depth, then I have yet to find it.

When I watched this video, a older video from late 2012 was recommended. It was when Shiloh still was on this earth (she was sooo beautiful!!) and you talked about the cost of owning a dog and the very last thing you said was that you were thinking of getting pet insuranse. Have you gotten that now?
I live in Sweden and have two siberian huskies, that have insuranse and it have saved us from a lot of large bills!
+Tina Selin We do not have pet insurance. Instead we have a special account set up for the dogs. Since we do make some money off of making these videos, and the occasional partnership with a company, we take a large chunk and put it into that account. That way, if something does happen, we have a bit of a cushion for the dogs bills. We also have a camping fund account and we put some of the money in there so we can take the dogs on more adventures! Pet insurance was going to cost us around $200 a month for all 3 girls. . and considering they do not go to the vet that often. . in 6 months. . we can save $1,200 on our own. . . so we went that route.
So we know it's good exercise for the dogs but what does it do for the RIDER? Looks like keeping upright at those speeds does some good for the core muscles.

Hahaha I learned the hard way not to put more then 2 dogs on the scooter. I took 3, they got tangled, I stoped, put the scooter on the ground, untangled them, and on my way back to my scooter, they started pulling really hard. I was getting rope burn on my hands and the scooter kept bashing in my calves. I let go and they left me... when I got home after them, the scooter was all twisted, brakes cables broken. Never again I put more than 2 dogs!

+Rachel F Diggler is out of business. Supposedly moving to a new company, but that's rumor. Pawtrekker is another company that makes good scooters, but I can only find them in Europe (supposedly coming to the states int eh Summer). Pawtrek is a third one that is already here.

I know people say you need a scooter specially designed for dogs because other scooters don't have strong enough breaks. I've been inline skating with my dog for a few years and she listens perfectly when I tell her to slow down or stop. In the beginning there have been situations where she wanted to chase after things and I was easily able to stop her by turning sideways. Is it a smart idea to first try with a normal, cheap children's scooter to see if I even like it enough to be worth the money for a proper one, or will a small scooter not be able to do the job?

Are there hard to handle on a sled? I've never taken my dogs to a sled and actually sled on a mountain or snow but the mountain wouldn't have any rocks on it what that's impossible to find

Pawtrekker (so far just Europe) and Pawtrek (US and Cananda) are the best two options right now.

+Erins LPS World I think the x-backs are better when the leash is more on ground level and these ones are better when the leash is a little bit higher like with the scooter/bike/jogging.
