I have the 060 you showed there. It was modified for 2 rail but was done poorly. Im not sure if I get it running will keep it 2 rail or go back to original, but it is a nice engine. It does feel a bit large closer to17/64.
This engine has a completely scratch built chassis the driving axles all three of them have roller bearing on each side of the axles and the drive gear the worm has ball bearings on both ends of the shaft

So they put ball bearings in motor, worm gear and every axle? Would imagine it's fastest of those 3.

Leonard, what was the method used on these steamers to insulate the wheels on each side to convert them from 3-rail to 2-rail?
I don't know what they did but I've got a 3 rail engine for a 2 rail layout myself. My solution is a rechargeable battery.
The machined the drivers to add an insulated bushing on the axle
