I used to be of the common mindset that .45 is the best suppressor host due to the standard ammo being subsonic. However, while that does take some complications out of suppressing a .45, bear in mind that the opening at the end of that suppressor is still almost 1/2" wide. That let's alot of gas/noise right out the end once the bullet leaves. Whereas a 9mm (which you have a slew of subsonic rounds to choose from) has an opening that is more than 1/8" smaller. Tiny little hole to let noise out, very little propellant to burn and make gas/noise, and no action reciprocating. Also, when compared to a handgun, much longer barrel to let gasses expand into and cool before it even reaches the suppressor. When you hear these all at the ear, not on a microphone/speaker you will notice the difference. Suppressed .45 still clicks pretty loud...
Came here and wrote the same thing before seeing this. Not sure why people seem oblivious to 9mm subsonic ammo. My 9mm cans are quieter than my .45 can. Both do a good job though.
Father had a 1911 with a can in the early 1990's, iwas young but I recall it being quite a bit louder..advances in machining and technology has Made these things way better!
For anybody wondering... it isn't actually this quiet in real life. It sounds about the same as a .22 LR. The video camera compresses the sound to make it much much quieter.
Back in WW2 they had a bolt action mag-fed pistol called the Wellrod. It had an integrated silencer with replaceable baffles. It made almost Zero noise, quiet as a toothpick falling on the floor.
Not bad! I serve as a range safety officer at my gun club. It is always SO much more comfortable when someone comes out with a suppressed rifle. The suppressors do an excellent job of reducing the noise and the blast.
You should set the camera up about 15 yards away to give someone an idea of how loud the gun is from the another person's point of view. Then 30 yards. That would be a bit more interesting to know.
My mom as a minor with her working papers made those at Rock Island Arsenal, as a kid and adult I was there many times, the war broke out and she joined USAF R&D then took off 6 years, and went back to the Rock for 38 more years, that's a hell of a lot of years of service.
Wow that actually made it so much more quiet probably the best pistol/suppressor combo Ive seen so far. Although I did notice it slowed the round down a lot and I hear they take away a lot of accuracy but I’ve never gotten to try one myself so idk🤷🏾♂️ but seems like using the suppressor has its pros and cons. I’d say it’s perfect for execution😈
I use the length of the top of the suppressor. Mostly the very end of the top of the suppressor and place a hit on top of quarter size dot at 30 feet with an Osprey and a 46 on a G21. No need for elevated sights.
Practice. People accurately shot bows made of wood and animal sinew with zero sighting aids for thousands of years before iron sights and firearms came along.
That's because all .45 ACP is inherently sub-sonic... The standard 230gr only goes 834fps. Unless you specifically load .45 ACP to run hotter (which the majority of manufactures don't) then again it will be inherently sub-sonic... You're welcome...
They do sell extra stealthy .45 acp which I use in a suppressed carbine. The problem is that 830fps is out of a pistol and with a longer barrel it’s getting uncomfortably close to 1100fps with standard ammo. Instead of being stealthy it sounds like someone chopping wood.
First of all, the feeding ramp is polished to a mirror sheen. It's not going to have any feeding problems. The slide's been replaced with a reinforced version, and it meshes perfectly with the frame. The frame itself has been iron-welded and scraped down multiple times for maximum precision. The front strap part of the frame has been checkered to make it dig into the hand. That prevents any slipping. The sight system's original too. It's a 3-dot type. It's got an enlarged front sight, giving it superior target sighting capability. The regular hammer's been replaced with a ring hammer. That enhances the cocking control and increases the hammer-down speed. They also reworked the grip safety to accommodate the ring hammer. It looks like they eliminated it altogether. This is a tool for pros. The thumb safety and slide stop are extended for precise handling. The base of the trigger guard is whittled down so you can use a high grip, and the trigger itself is a long type for easy finger access. The trigger pull is about 3.5 pounds. that's about a pound and a half lighter than normal. The magazine well has been widened to make it easier to put in a new magazine. The magazine catch button has been filed down low to make it harder to hit it by mistake. The mainspring housing has been changed to a flat type to increase grip, and it's even been fitted with stepping so that it won't slip from the recoil when firing. On top of that, they added cocking serrations to the top part of the slide. That lets you load and eject cartridges faster in an emergency. Whoever did this is a professional, no question. This thing could shoot a one-hole at 25 yards in a machine rest.
The standard load being subsonic makes it the perfect handgun cartridge to suppress. I have a can on my .45-70 Marlin. 405gn at about 950fps is my standard handload. I use pistol powder as it leaves virtually no fouling
I have a Hybrid 46 on a USP45. While it's quiet and doesn't remotely sound like a gunshot inside it's still loud enough to damage your hearing. So in person it is alot louder than the video makes it out to be, but the sound is masked to where it doesn't sound like a gunshot. The cool thing about the hybrid 46 is that it will fit on a .22 all the way up to a 45-70.
Suppresed weapons are actually decently silenced when shot outdoors in open areas (with subsonic ammo of course)... but when fired with nearby walls or with a roof overhead, or worse even indoors, they get so much louder, unlike what hollywood movies like to show. Only suppressed and subsonic 22LR seems to be really quiet even indoors with a good silencer, 9mm and 45 ACP not nearly as much. I hope the day comes when suppressors are no longer somehow classified as "machine guns" in the NFA.

Came here and wrote the same thing before seeing this. Not sure why people seem oblivious to 9mm subsonic ammo. My 9mm cans are quieter than my .45 can. Both do a good job though.
.22 suppressed is incredible to shoot. Even without a suppressor, CCI Quiet-22 through a full length bolt action rifle is BB gun quiet.
@@Bisley1because the 45 is twice as big and will headache you more
You hvae to consider that microphones usually suppress loud noises initially so it's hard to judge the loudness just by volume in video.
A decibel meter on camera comparing the 2 is probably the best way.
@@spaceboy3101 yeap. That's what I saw in other similar videos.
That first round pop was gnarly
There's definitely an audible difference.
@@Warvideos401 you're clueless
dang - that is much better than I thought it would be considering it is a 45!
Father had a 1911 with a can in the early 1990's, iwas young but I recall it being quite a bit louder..advances in machining and technology has Made these things way better!
For anybody wondering... it isn't actually this quiet in real life. It sounds about the same as a .22 LR. The video camera compresses the sound to make it much much quieter.
we're also behind the noisy bits; it's louder on the business end.
It sounds as Loyd as my 45 acp, and I don't have a silencer on mine.
Damn. Quiet. Smooth recoil.nice
I have that exact 1911. Its been a solid workhorse so far.
It ate up 150 bullets that day no problems! It's a mil spec 1911 so it should just work.
@@RuggedAdventures I agree. I love it. enjoy it! Im getting a dan wesson next im excited for that
That's amazingly quiet.
Thank you so much.
Keeping noise down is a big issue when you’re shooting.,
Pretty nice test
Ty mate
Well that was nice and quiet
Quite quiet
No wonder the USP Tactical with a suppressor would be used by elite ops after hearing how quiet this is.
Got the same rock island and love it
Fairly quiet.
Impressive!
You should set the camera up about 15 yards away to give someone an idea of how loud the gun is from the another person's point of view. Then 30 yards. That would be a bit more interesting to know.
thats a lot quieter then i expected, neighbors would still probably hear it
Not gonna lie. That's pretty impressive!
Wow that’s not bad, I was definitely expecting it to be lil louder
That is a thing of beauty
😮 awesome! I also have the rockisland gi in 45 and I love it!
Solid gun for a great price!
they have better out of the box performance than a kimber
Can't expect God to do all the work
My mom as a minor with her working papers made those at Rock Island Arsenal, as a kid and adult I was there many times, the war broke out and she joined USAF R&D then took off 6 years, and went back to the Rock for 38 more years, that's a hell of a lot of years of service.
That's beautiful
ATF is in the bushes
You mean over there where he was shooting at?
"Hey you boys got level 4s on?"
@@joycemyers8140 I hope so.
Doing What? They proceeded or he likely wouldnt have it.
Oh so they couldn't hear anything? 😏
It sounds like an airsoft gun
I see that the silencer really made you a better shot! You almost hit a tree!
I wouldn’t know what that was if I heard it echoing in a building. Cool stuff
How do you know where you are aiming?
There made for up close 15 ft or less (Roughly) combat. Less of a chance giving your position away when clearing an area
That suppressor costs more than the pistol.
It costs more than a few of my guns combined!
Wow! Now that is impressive, those 45,s do go with a bang !😮
Such a beautiful firearm
Silence is golden.
Good job big boss!
Beautiful
does the suppressor decreases the recoil?
A little bit, but not that much. Any added weight to a gun would decrease its recoil.
@@HDJess makes sense
A 1911 doesn't have as much recoil as some people might think. They're very easy to shoot.
If you are used to guns. For new shooters it bucks. @@hxhdfjifzirstc894
Failure to mention subsonic ammunition.
That's because all .45 ACP is inherently sub-sonic... The standard 230gr only goes 834fps. Unless you specifically load .45 ACP to run hotter (which the majority of manufactures don't) then again it will be inherently sub-sonic... You're welcome...
@@jumpmasterdan77 yup exaclty
They do sell extra stealthy .45 acp which I use in a suppressed carbine. The problem is that 830fps is out of a pistol and with a longer barrel it’s getting uncomfortably close to 1100fps with standard ammo. Instead of being stealthy it sounds like someone chopping wood.
Excellent work 47
The perfect city pistol 🔥🔥😮💨
Now that’s pretty dang quiet!
I'm so impressed! Also look up the De Lisle carbine in .45 ACP as well. Apparently the most silent of all silent weapons (WW2 firearms)
Wow very interesting I had no idea how quit that could be it's the ultimate plinker
Wasn’t expecting it to be that quiet
That is pretty effective. Better that a lot of others.
Thanks for the vid! Would be cool to see a follow-up with downrange sound (since it sounds different on the other side)
Thats a good suppressor i was still expecting more noise
Bro, that .45 legit sounds like a fricken BB gun! 😂😂🤣🤣
No recoil and quiet as hell!
That’s a nice piece
Nice! Very nice❤

That's really quiet. Thought it was a gag at first. Almost expected a red strip of "caps" to start coming out of it.
Damn, that is way quieter than I even expected. Reminds me of Operation: Snake Eater
Thats absolutely incredible
That really cut the sound more than I expected! Very impressive!
