Because they are incredibly expensive, and need ressources that are even more incredibly rare, so it's less a matter of want, and more a matter of care (plus they were a relatively late addition to the army, as they were new technologies)

I love the idea that the empire commander guy is surprised that his faction actually won a battle. 45,000 casualties is literally only 1 star destroys worth of stormtroopers. That means the battle of Hoth had a kill death ratio of around 9 to 1 and most of the rebels escaped. This unnamed battle? No one escaped. And apparently not a single star ship was lost. I consider this a complete victory. Well done new recruit! :)

Honestly, when put in the context of the book the Daemonculaba don't seem as horrifying. The whole pace is grade-A fucked up.

Iron Warriors consider even their own super soldier brothers expendable in battle. 45,000 humans used as meat shields to win a battle would be considered an exceptional use of resources.
@@thecinnamonguy5127 I know this is old so you might already know. However, just in case you don't I will attempt to explain the typical Iron Warrior M.O. They are divided; currently being lead by various Warsmiths such as Honsou or Shon'tu or Falk etc. Each one having their own tendencies toward or against the powers of the warp. Whatever their disposition when they come to an inhabited world they destroy the planets defenses and enslave the population forcing them to build industry, mine minerals, construct fortifications, that sort of thing. Working them until they break, the conditions aren't cruel because they're sadists, the conditions are cruel because they don't care. Some are conscripted and forced to fight in their wars as mine sweepers, to help expend the enemies ammo, expose artillery positions, etc. A select few who show sufficient character according to their values are taken on as aspirants. I don't think they usually go around blowing up planets, it's a waste of resources. However every planet they conquer inevitably becomes an industrial nightmare world.
Well, efficiency is shaky here. Burning resources in the way that they do isn't efficient at all. It might win the battle but lose the war because of burning through your own chaff too quickly.

You know, I never considered it before, but Iron Warriors would be a perfect fit for the Empire. Their complete apathy for the lives of their own soldiers, total disregard for civilian and collateral losses, stone-cold personalities, and zero hesitation about war crimes (or crimes against nature for that matter), means they'd fit right in among the local commanders. Add to the fact that on top of all of this, they're also actually GOOD at their jobs, and you've got some of the most feared and efficient commanders around. Shame that they're still Chaos Marines, with all the baggage that entails, and would just look at the Empire and go "Fucking weak-sauce. We don't serve you, you serve US".
That and they'd do Vader's job for him by killing any commander they think is weak or cowardly. Also there's the thing of Iron Warriors have this condition where parts of their body sometimes mutate so they have to amputate and replace with a prosthetic...it's like Iron Hands in a way
The most sane and efficient at of all the Traitor Legions. You can't argue with the results an Iron Warrior produces. Victory at all costs. Iron Within Iron Without (The Demonculaba deserves to be forgotten, Honsou really messed up)
The funny thing is that the other iron warriors hated the deamonculaba too and sent 3 iron warrior warbands that consists of approx. 1000 marines, with all their tanks, seige engines, 10 Titans, and 1 greater deamon of slaanesh to destroy it. They succeeded in destroying the entire operation, but was ultimately forced to retreat, because honsou, the ever smart b*st*rd released a very strong greater deamon of khorne that starts wrecking the entire place.

I like that the Stormtrooper is mad about casualties so light til he finds out that it wasnt some off the hip stupidity act or a monster killing his own men for nothing. As seems to be the case with most of the Space Marines he's been hiring.
At a certain point being around CSM and hiring enough of them. It broke this storm trooper mind for acepting this one may be competant if not crazy in their own way. Even the Iron Warriors as a whole do not like the daemonculaba .As that is saying something about them for their relationship with the warsmith Honsou .
I could see the Rebels screaming and shitting their pants after wave after wave of StormTroopers doing frontal assaults on their position I can imagine their terror and screams as they met their end not familiar with this form of fighting and I can imagine the final thoughts as those StormTroopers and rebels thought before they were barraged to death by Artillery what an amazing way to utilize them
It was the Napoleon tactic, have the ordinary troops fight the enemy, and later then both sides have suffered losses and are exhausted, he send in the Old Gard (the elit of the elit) which have been in reserve all along and are totally fresh, playing "victory is ours"
They would not use stormtroopers, they are elite (although they are not represented like that), they would use the regular troops that we see in the battle of Mimban in the Han Solo movie.

seems like that iron warrior is one of hounsu boys. only that particular warband does the demonculaba. they did try to make it standard practice but got immediatly banned and blacklisted. Goes to show. Even chaos has standards.

AFAIK the reason demonculaba got banned was because of all the reject offspring it created resulted in a mutant army that helped overthrow the Iron Warriors on that planet. Plus the whole, you know, having to bind a demon to a mortal body. Demons _really_ don't like when you trap them in a flesh cage and force them to give birth. So it's not that Chaos has standards, it's that Chaos frequently turns on itself 😄

Problem was that the new space marines were not as sane as regular iron warriors, and every couple batches, new space marine is born that see visions of emperor and refuses to serve chaos

45.000 casualties. The Iron warrior is pleased by how low his losses were and even then, they were fragile stormtroopers, there is no way they had any higher purpose other than dying.
I love how Iron Warrior actually won the battle. The Empire will become way more dangerous. They can also do the "base delta zero" or something, which is essentially Stat Wars version of exterminatus.
@@blacktemplar1139 There are too many planets to conquer they would lose due to attrition over time even if they are able to attempt to replace their losses unless it is one of the more politically minded chapters who could obtain more support within the SW galaxy or one that is good at infiltrating' and destabilizing they couldn't conquer it, they would need alot of collaborators.
@@blacktemplar1139 Keep in mind they won't have plot armour, or assistance from any other groups in the Imperium like the guard, merchanicum etc. Ultramarines have enough political and administrative skill to establish a power base and conquer from there once their situation is more stable or make some sort of agreement with the republic they later break. So it is possible for them(against the republic, the empire would just orbitally bombard their worlds to ruin once it figured out they are super soldiers in highly advanced armour this goes for all of the space marine options besides the ones skilled in infilitration and stealth) The Iron warriors can't use the daemonculaba as they don't have savage morticians. They also need to set up new manufacturing facilities and conscript a new army, or mass produce droids or clones and their tactics are going to breed resistance and lead to a heavy response from the republic. Unless they get lucky and land far away from the core and have time to build up a powerbase, new manufacturing facilities, conscript and train new armies etc. they will eventually run out of iron warriors.
@@silverdeathgamer2907 1, Ultramarines don't use plot armor. They use Ork Waaagh! power. 2, the Iron Warriors do not need the Daemoncalaba. They only need Geneseed to make more recruits, the Daemoncalaba was a merely quicker option than having to extract Geneseed from fallen Astartes. Also, before you mention attrition, the Iron Warriors are capable of reproducing more than a chapters worth of Battle Brothers in about 20 years as was shown during the aftermath of the Iron Cage Still not looking good for the SW galaxy either way
The Iron Warriors would break the Imperial War Machine and actually reform them into a powerful army of unyielding soldiers. Unlike the other traitor marines, with the Iron Warriors in charge The Empire would actually start winning.

I mean, an Imperial commander would have taken as many casualties in full scale conflict lasting multiple months, lost a few ships in orbit to sabotage from disgruntled locals, and then lost a Star destroyer or 2 to rebel fleet elements coming in system to reinforce and evacuate their comrades. The IW just skipped to the end and saved the hassle, and also won.
As it has been for the Sons of Perturabo, Iron Within and Iron Without. Wastefully ruthless, questionably brutal but effective warriors and siege masters.

@@thecinnamonguy5127 I know this is old so you might already know. However, just in case you don't I will attempt to explain the typical Iron Warrior M.O. They are divided; currently being lead by various Warsmiths such as Honsou or Shon'tu or Falk etc. Each one having their own tendencies toward or against the powers of the warp. Whatever their disposition when they come to an inhabited world they destroy the planets defenses and enslave the population forcing them to build industry, mine minerals, construct fortifications, that sort of thing. Working them until they break, the conditions aren't cruel because they're sadists, the conditions are cruel because they don't care. Some are conscripted and forced to fight in their wars as mine sweepers, to help expend the enemies ammo, expose artillery positions, etc. A select few who show sufficient character according to their values are taken on as aspirants. I don't think they usually go around blowing up planets, it's a waste of resources. However every planet they conquer inevitably becomes an industrial nightmare world.
The Imperial Guard would consider 45,000 casualties really, really good, too.

Well, efficiency is shaky here. Burning resources in the way that they do isn't efficient at all. It might win the battle but lose the war because of burning through your own chaff too quickly.

You know, I never considered it before, but Iron Warriors would be a perfect fit for the Empire. Their complete apathy for the lives of their own soldiers, total disregard for civilian and collateral losses, stone-cold personalities, and zero hesitation about war crimes (or crimes against nature for that matter), means they'd fit right in among the local commanders. Add to the fact that on top of all of this, they're also actually GOOD at their jobs, and you've got some of the most feared and efficient commanders around.
Shame that they're still Chaos Marines, with all the baggage that entails, and would just look at the Empire and go "Fucking weak-sauce. We don't serve you, you serve US".
They hold no value for life that's their problem the emperor even held value for life, and he was fairly apathetic.

The funny thing is that the other iron warriors hated the deamonculaba too and sent 3 iron warrior warbands that consists of approx. 1000 marines, with all their tanks, seige engines, 10 Titans, and 1 greater deamon of slaanesh to destroy it. They succeeded in destroying the entire operation, but was ultimately forced to retreat, because honsou, the ever smart b*st*rd released a very strong greater deamon of khorne that starts wrecking the entire place.

I like that the Stormtrooper is mad about casualties so light til he finds out that it wasnt some off the hip stupidity act or a monster killing his own men for nothing. As seems to be the case with most of the Space Marines he's been hiring.
I find it hilarious that he gave the “psycho marine” command of an entire Imperial army on day one.
At a certain point being around CSM and hiring enough of them. It broke this storm trooper mind for acepting this one may be competant if not crazy in their own way. Even the Iron Warriors as a whole do not like the daemonculaba .As that is saying something about them for their relationship with the warsmith Honsou .
I could see the Rebels screaming and shitting their pants after wave after wave of StormTroopers doing frontal assaults on their position I can imagine their terror and screams as they met their end not familiar with this form of fighting and I can imagine the final thoughts as those StormTroopers and rebels thought before they were barraged to death by Artillery what an amazing way to utilize them

It was the Napoleon tactic, have the ordinary troops fight the enemy, and later then both sides have suffered losses and are exhausted, he send in the Old Gard (the elit of the elit) which have been in reserve all along and are totally fresh, playing "victory is ours"
They would not use stormtroopers, they are elite (although they are not represented like that), they would use the regular troops that we see in the battle of Mimban in the Han Solo movie.

I love how the commander immediately accepts the cannon fodder nature of the stormtroopers the moment he learns they actually won a fight in a day.

AFAIK the reason demonculaba got banned was because of all the reject offspring it created resulted in a mutant army that helped overthrow the Iron Warriors on that planet. Plus the whole, you know, having to bind a demon to a mortal body. Demons _really_ don't like when you trap them in a flesh cage and force them to give birth.
So it's not that Chaos has standards, it's that Chaos frequently turns on itself 😄

Problem was that the new space marines were not as sane as regular iron warriors, and every couple batches, new space marine is born that see visions of emperor and refuses to serve chaos

@@blacktemplar1139 There are too many planets to conquer they would lose due to attrition over time even if they are able to attempt to replace their losses unless it is one of the more politically minded chapters who could obtain more support within the SW galaxy or one that is good at infiltrating' and destabilizing they couldn't conquer it, they would need alot of collaborators.

@@blacktemplar1139 Keep in mind they won't have plot armour, or assistance from any other groups in the Imperium like the guard, merchanicum etc.
Ultramarines have enough political and administrative skill to establish a power base and conquer from there once their situation is more stable or make some sort of agreement with the republic they later break. So it is possible for them(against the republic, the empire would just orbitally bombard their worlds to ruin once it figured out they are super soldiers in highly advanced armour this goes for all of the space marine options besides the ones skilled in infilitration and stealth)
The Iron warriors can't use the daemonculaba as they don't have savage morticians. They also need to set up new manufacturing facilities and conscript a new army, or mass produce droids or clones and their tactics are going to breed resistance and lead to a heavy response from the republic. Unless they get lucky and land far away from the core and have time to build up a powerbase, new manufacturing facilities, conscript and train new armies etc. they will eventually run out of iron warriors.

1, Ultramarines don't use plot armor. They use Ork Waaagh! power.
2, the Iron Warriors do not need the Daemoncalaba. They only need Geneseed to make more recruits, the Daemoncalaba was a merely quicker option than having to extract Geneseed from fallen Astartes. Also, before you mention attrition, the Iron Warriors are capable of reproducing more than a chapters worth of Battle Brothers in about 20 years as was shown during the aftermath of the Iron Cage

An Iron Warrior wouldn't have left that Death Star exhaust port unfortified.
I mean, an Imperial commander would have taken as many casualties in full scale conflict lasting multiple months, lost a few ships in orbit to sabotage from disgruntled locals, and then lost a Star destroyer or 2 to rebel fleet elements coming in system to reinforce and evacuate their comrades.
