Finally she beheaded The Rakta Beej and held it in her left hand, drank the blood out of him. Still Maa Mahakali's anger didn't calm down and if she would have continued then the world would have come to an end. Only Mahadev had the power to stop her. As Shiva is the husband of Mother Parvati/Mahakali, he lied down in front of her. Mother Mahakali came and stepped onto his chest. That's when she realized she committed a big mistake of stepping onto her husband, so she brought out her tongue out of shame. (In Hinduism, husbands are considered to be next to God. That's because God created women and women can create another life with the help of men, so husbands are next to Almighty. And Shiva didn't stop Mahakali with hands or arms because men considered women to be God as she helps his family to grow by giving birth to his genes). That gave the figurine of Maa Mahakali.

My family is the devotee of mahakali, she is the angry/powerful uncontrollable version of godess (godess of power and war) Parvati. She killed the demon daruk (in the later part if this video), Daruk was blessed with double life if his blood drop on earth (if a blood fell on earth few more daruk appears), so she kill and drink blood at the same time but since she is uncontrollable, to control her - lord shiva has to lay on her way, when she keep step on lord Shiva, who is the Supreme being, her tongue comes out in shame. My family is the devotee of mahakali, she is the angry/powerful uncontrollable version of godess (godess of power and war) Parvati. She killed the demon daruk (in the later part if this video), Daruk was blessed with double life if his blood drop on earth (if a blood fell on earth few more daruk appears), so she kill and drink blood at the same time but since she is uncontrollable, to control her - lord shiva has to lay on her way, when she keep step on lord Shiva, who is the Supreme being, her tongue comes out in shame. Hence her unique figure with "kali with tongue".
A kali without tongue is called "rudrakali".
On a lighter notes, since my childhood, I heard many times- kali's devotee do not fear anything.
