    Sevan is looking at this from an old man back-in-my-day mentality. He's incredibly off base here, but even more is that his argument doesn't really make sense. It's almost like he doesn't have a coherent one on this.

      @@JoyceElFer I think Sevan means that the sport needs to grow organically, based on the interest from the audience and not by CrossFit dictating the cash flows. But I don't know what is CrossFit's commitment to the sport, and what they can do. Maybe negotiate better deals with sponsors and work on creating more awareness?

    Sevan’s logic and his understanding of free market & how to grow CrossFit the
    sport appears rudimentary.
    Paying the players better will attract more professional & better players. This is the investment you make to make the sport attractive to players & in turn attract sponsors & media deals. The logic is not that hard.

    ...$5k max the same year they add "online CF Level 1" courses. Guys sending CF a thousand bucks with no cost to CF for travel or pay for instructors. First a new owner and now hiring a guy from Nike to be new president- we get this cost cutting, plus "affiliate programming" projected to make millions annually.
    CF will be Coca-Cola/Taco Bell in a few years

    What if CrossFit does something like the USA Olympic committee. The U.S Olympic committee pays the athletes on the team a small salary to help with training. It’s not alot but I think it’s like $30,000 a year or something like that. Probably more in today world but still not much! What if CrossFit only pays the 40 men and 40 women who qualify individually a small monthly stipend to help with training costs. If the athlete don’t qualify the following year then they lose it

    • @MTaborsky
      @MTaborsky 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's why so many athletes (guess that's more a Europe thing) are in the Army.
      They get their salary and train for an (mostly) olympic sport, could be Weightlifting, could be Gymnastics, could be Archery,.. stuff that most of the times isn't so big you could make a living in most countries

    i think they are underestimating just how much extra money would need to be added into the prize purse to allow enough ppl to become full time athletes. this would easily turn into 5-10 million dollars extra if you were to payout on average all men and women in the 75-125K range

    Sports favor bigger markets, in the US, in Germany, in the UK you can earn much more from sponsorships through side stuff (e.g. Social Media) even with less success in sport.
    Crossfit is a Sport that's big enough to pay out more and especially make it not a loss of money when they go to the world championshop.
    A Sport this big, should not make athletes pay.

  • @briand5047
    @briand5047 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    People wanting a greater payment for achievement is part of what capitalism is. There is a myth that the free market means the larger party in a negotiation dictates all.

  • @clayluttrell7204
    @clayluttrell7204 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    All Crossfit needs to do to grow the prize pool would be bring in(or keep Sponsors) that kick in money to the prize pot. Look at Reebok doing their revenge money of 10K for athletes who wear their gear and win events. Just get sponsors to kick in and pay the athletes more. Its not hard for Crossfit to figure this stuff out, either they dont want to pay more, or they are incompetent.

  • @joe1071
    @joe1071 ปีที่แล้ว

    I guess it really depends on sponsor revenues, ad revenues, and all the other streams of income from the games. How much does Reebok, rogue, etc make in their increased sales from the sponsorship and ad exposure from the games? I’m guessing a lot, but who knows. If it really is a big revenue stream for them, they should be able to negotiate sponsors kicking in prize money, and if the numbers make sense they would willingly do it. More prize money = better competition = growth of the sport = more views and exposure = more revenue for sponsor companies as a direct result of the growth of the games. It’s not complicated, the sponsors probably are happy just making big revenues and not having to kick in anything in return.
