    LED achieved high brightness and low cost ten years ago.
    My life with flashlights begun at the end of the sixties; that is 40 years with incandescent flashlights, and a small parenthesis around the year 2000 with short-arc discharge bulbs - they have a wonderful tint and spectrum.
    LED lights begun for me with the original SureFire L1, a 15 lumens LED light with a purple (P4) tint. But ten more years had to elapse, before quantum mechanical studies brought LEDs to 200 Lumen/Watt efficiency, ten times more than the best incandescent (the SF M4 Millennium Edition).
    Now I have a decent collection of the most recent Fenix and Nitecore lights; I love the small Nitecore T4K and the mastodon which is the Fenix LR60R; I'm playing with them now. For money reasons, I must avoid duplicate flashlight types across brands.
    Thank you for your 100% flashlights video.
    Greetings,
    Anthony

    Cool video guys. Flashlights get more interesting the more I learn. The flashlight game is totally different than the C and D cell incandescent lights we took camping as kids 25-30 years ago...I gave my dad a nitecore rechargeable headlamp as a christmas gift a few years ago and he was initially blown away at how bright it was and the convenience of being rechargeable.. And that headlamp is only a fraction of the brightness of some of these lights you guys have. This year I might get him a handheld that's extra bright, light up the entire back yard lol.

    I had fun listening to your guy's conversation, thanks for taking the time, I recently got interested in flashlights again when I saw Olight release the Nano Warrior, so I have been jumping down the rabbit hole again, there are a ton of brands out there today, Streamlight, Thrunite, Fenix, A couple great value brands are Sofirn(you guys mentioned them) and Wurkkos. Over the last decade or so I've trained here and there with law enforcement, and their go-to brand seems to be Nitecore. I think NexTorch is one of the few flashlight brands out there that does a proper DNA catcher on their tactical lights, the added ceramic beads are something more lights should have in the EDC and or tactical lights, one would be surprised how hard it is to break a regular car window with the bezel of a flashlight in a rescue situation, the ceramic beads make so easy a 5-year-old could do it.

    5:48 That Imalent I've seen some other channels that have tested it and it drops 200 lumens a second as soon as you turn it on from 13000 down to 2000 where it levels off and then drops again. Its very misleading specs. I think any turbo should be 30 seconds minimum and high mode 5 minutes minimum.

    • @practicalguy973
      @practicalguy973 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The amount of battery that turbo would waste for something not really usable should be considered also.

    In most torches you'll find things you dont like about the beam when shining on a wall but once outside most of the time those little annoying things go away so its cheesy to judge a torch by what it looks like on the wall go outside and appreciate it then..

    You can remove the bezel from the Warrior 3 and swap it out with a less aggressive bezel that olight sell.

    Just some constructive criticism from someone who'd love to see a more in depth view of these torches: Next time, please have this in a dark area where only you both are illuminated for the convo, but you can easily pivot to the dark area (preferably spacious like a park or so) and you can show us the beams and reach, as well as color fidelity.
    This was just too much talk with very little in the way of demonstration imho.

    I use budget at work (Sofirn if22a and mostly the sc32, attached to the helmet with a ziptie). Sometimes i use a LedLenser p5r. Outside my house, LumintopGTA and Olight baton3pro max. In house fenix hm65rt.
    On the work lights i applied a silicone foil because ppl grind, weld or torch cut metal.
