- Halton Borough Transport (HBT) ceased trading on Friday 24 January, bringing to an end its 111 years of municipal operation.
HBT collapsed and went into liquidation. Today an auction viewing was held at the HBT depot, Moor Lane Widnes.
I went to see one last time, the buses which served the area so well for many years. Virtually everything in there was up for auction, buses, spare parts, workshop equipment, office desks and accessories, lockers, tables and much more.
I took the opportunity to video and take pics of the buses and the premises, purely for nostalgic reasons and for the many people who travelled and worked on the buses in the past.
Superb. Very sad to see the place ‘abandoned’ as it was when the company folded. Very sad indeed. But excellent work filming it and capturing it, well done
Cheers, thank you. It's one of those things which had to be documented for the next generation. It is sad.
last time I was in that depot must of been around 6 yrs old in 1969 with mother picking up father after his shift as a driver. That depot hasnt change much inside over the years. Can remember the wash bay on left as you went in & the staff canteen. Was big bus company back then & mostly double deckers.
Nice one. Thanks for the comment and memories 👍
Good of you to do this video for the people of Widnes.
Cheers. Be great to look back on in the future
It's very sad end of an error for Halton Transport.

When Halton ceased operations it was reported they had a fleet of 77. How come the auction only had 50 odd vehicles. Does anyone know what happend to the others ?

Very sad to see that such a once very well company had ended up like this.
