    I think EcoFlow made a big mistake by not giving the attached battery any for functionality other than running the EcoFlow wave. The battery costs between $800 and $900. The battery cannot charge anything else but the Wave. If the Wave breaks, the battery is totally useless. The Wave will probably only be used for 3 months during the Summer. That means the $800 to $900 battery won’t be used either. Why didn’t EcoFlow give the battery the capability to charge a phone, tablet, or computer? I would not buy it now and wait for EcoFlow to give the battery more functionality.

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah since it uses the same plug as the one that attaches from battery to battery there has to be an adapter for that. If not I’m sure someone will make a third party one. But yeah I think it’s sort of the same as the river pro where the extra battery is just for that unit.

    • @stryder2334
      @stryder2334 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally agree, what an oversight. I’d say it’s best to pair this with one of their solar generator systems and forget the add on battery.

      I saw they were running a Father’s Day deal for like $99 you get two batteries and you can get a fan with it. Too bad they didn’t have the misting ones. Idk that I would want the misting one in my tent though.

    This seems way cooler (hehe) than the one we found that requires you to load it with ice periodically.

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah cooler ACs I’ve seen before but it almost seems harder to keep ice frozen outdoors. I guess you could run it off the fridge and periodically use it.

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hard to create from scratch though.

  • @doorgoo
    @doorgoo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The power cables aren’t the same, the “upgraded” cable is one with a GFI to protect you if it gets wet. As it isn’t waterproof, if you left it outside running and it rained or you placed it in a puddle you won’t get electrocuted. The charging for the ecoflow itself probably assumes you’ll charge it indoors or in your camper.

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it’s not for charging in the elements its in case there is too much moisture in the air and the unit actually has some condensation forming that comes out if the unit.

  • @TheLPCGAMING

    Been looking for a solution on jobsites. Icybreeze cooler seems to be the most practical but this seems to be the best true portable AC. Could always hook up a regular portable in a window as well, pretty pricey

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tell me about it. All the portably ones are expensive. Is it a construction site? You might be able to get away with a wall unit one but it won’t be very portable. Possible the eco flow or some other one could be a write off?

    Very underwhelmed with my unit. I received mine a few days ago and after 2 days of testing, it's going back. $1200 is too much to pay for something that won't cool my Kenworth T680. Ran it at 60 degrees for over an hour and it never got below 66 degrees. Outside temp was in the mid 70s in the afternoon. Sun was setting. Disappointed

      @@trailmonstah1892 yeah. It's basically a spot cooler. If you want to direct the airflow right into your body but forget about cooling a small space. My Kenworth truck is probably 10x10 and it wouldn't get it below 74 which is nuts. $1200 spot cooler....no thanks. I'm a huge fan of ecoflow products but this one is a dud.

      @@OXFOOT I'm going to assume you meant "cool" an rv.... Based on my weekend trials with this unit, unless Ecoflow sent you a stronger unit, there's no way you cooled off entire rv with this unit. I ran it for hours in the cab of my 18 wheeler and it wouldn't get it under 72 if I remember correctly. I am running this in the van. Can I vent the exhaust and run a vent for the intake? Can I just recycle the internal air? It would seem more efficient to cool the cooling air. I don't want to cut two giant holes in my new van.

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t see an issue but it may or may not be adding moisture to the air. I always get AC and swamp coolers mixed up. When you use “Max AC” in your car I think it does do that though. Hard to say but I would say you’d probably be fine since the noisy air comes out of the “exhaust”. I don’t want to tell you wrong but I don’t see why not.

      @@OXFOOT I got it and returned it. Ecoflow told me that compressor will only work with other Ecoflow power banks. I tried it off my inverter and it would not blow cold and shut off after 15 minutes of fan only running. It even shut off when I had it in the house testing it. Then wouldn't kick on for a couple days. Also had trouble with APP/Bluetooth. Started seeing more bad reviews with water collecting issues. And also that 4000BTU is still not enough. I think I'm gonna go with another solar panel and another battery and hide a window unit in the van some where.

    • @OXFOOT

    Can I use this in the back seat of my car in the summer time so I don’t have to run my car ac at all times when parked ?

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s possible but I think the car is more efficient in terms of output. I could be wrong though because I know almost nothing about car AC and power draw from that. It would work though but setting it up and running the lines out the window might be a hassle where as the car AC is just there. It depends on how long you’re sitting. Maybe a 30 minutes to a few hours it would be worth it. But if you’re only there for maybe 15 minutes waiting maybe it would be more work than it’s worth? That would also be a personal assessment to make though.

    My whole reason for watching this was to find out how long it will run using the battery that comes with it? And how long would it take to recharge the battery? Recharce on solar or electric outlet?

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can recharge it on solar or wall. If you’re recharging it on solar there are too many factors to say. Like 1 what size solar are you using, is there any cloud cover, what time of day are you charging it? I have both a 110watt and a 400 watt, obviously the 400 watt at full power would charge it in about 2 hours or more but it’s likely it would take a little long with fluctuating sun cover. Something like a 200 watt at full power would charge in about 5 hrs.
      Charging from the wall you’d get about a 2 hr charge time. With your car it’s about 5 hrs while it’s running.

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are a ton of factors that change the run time as well. If you have it fluctuating the compressor to maintain a certain temp it really depends on how hot it is. The battery can last as little as 3 hrs if it’s a huge space that needs the compressor on all the time or as long as 7 hrs if it’s a small tent and it holds the temp well. So you could in theory use it all day and charge it while you use it and have it last a decent amount if the night as well if not the whole night.

      The power bank that is the base is like maybe 2 inches at most. The other chord I have is I believe 3ft. That’s the one that connects to other ecoflow powerbanks.

  • @ovrlndr
    @ovrlndr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How long will it run on its own battery pack? Not sure if I missed it, but I did catch the part at the end where you said how long it’ll work on their eco pro. I can’t find any info on run times with its own battery pack, I can only find info on external battery packs.

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the battery that attaches to it with it trying to keep temp it can run as short as 3 hrs with extreme heat (very unlikely imo) or as high as 8 hours needing a recharge the next day. With solar it could be recharged easily in a day again, with the delta pro it can go as 12 hours in full blast but I have no data on the longest run time.

  • @NickC9545
    @NickC9545 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Prob a stoooopid question but in order to run this in a bedroom, will I have to vent the hot air out a window? If so, during summer months when it's 100F outside at night, opening the window will let in a lot of hot air back into the bedroom. What would you suggest before I consider using your discount code and buying this?
    Also, great audio quality. Is that the DJI mic?

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh man sorry I just saw this. Yeah you would need to vent it out. What I’m thinking of doing is taking a piece of foam that fits in the bottom of the window when it closes and then cutting the vent holes in the foam and doing it like that. I did it before when I had one of those ground unit ones you have to drain. It’s not hard to do just takes some good measuring.

    • @OXFOOT

      Yeah it’s the Ride video mic pro. Very similar to the DJI in terms of performance.

    Nice unit, how do you keep it inside with out moving around while you drive?
    Is there a way to have it secure?
    Does it work without the exhaust/intake hoses connected?
    Thanks for the great review.

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s balanced in a way that it secures it self really well. Typically what I do with my powerbanks and anything like this is store it between sleeping pads, sleeping bags/blankets or my duffle bag with clothes just in case I need to stop really hard or the trail is really off balance.

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can run without any hoses but you still have to have a way of running the AC air in or the humid air out. I learned this for sure when I stayed in a really bad hotel in Atlanta back in the day fresh out of college and they had a window unit that didn’t run out of the room it was blowing AC in but also the hot humid air in as well. It basically negates the cool air coming out completely. Learned my lesson of not picking the cheapest hotel I could find, go a few steps up.
