My favorite Elton John song. It is interesting that you bring up the talking aspect. Elton John said that Lou Reed talks his songs in pitch rather than actually singing them. I think he was speaking about Perfect Day that he did a version. The line "are they green or are they blue" is kinda English. I wonder how African American artists deal with this line. Hi Evan, I'm an expert at these types of things. You can foul up the singing as bad as humanly possible and it will sound the best singing in the history of the stuff to her.
I find this song pretty hard to sing somehow. Don't know Elephant Medley from Moulin Rouge goes pretty well, but this one, have hard time to hit it right.
