Great review and comparison! You got me convinced, again, on this one. I just bought one XB13 today with redeemed Sony Rewards points for my friends' Christmas gift. Looks like I will now also buy a second one to get them into the enhanced stereo sound they will appreciate. Thank you! All the best.
Sony has the best sound quality but I'm still loving that design from JBL! I wish we could have Sony's better speaker sound quality with JBL's Clip design
Also with the Sony depending what surface you put them on you can get a deep bass..I think it’s the way the vents are at the bottom..if you put your ears where the vents are you can feel how deep the bass is
@@JerkyFraser nothing bad design about that tons of speakers/subs use different surfaces to boost the bass/sounds of the speak, its the reason the the sony tends to sound way better than the JBL
I’d still choose the Clip simply because it’s easier to carry around for me. The flat design and easy clip-on makes it extremely easy for me to clip on my belt, chair, backpack and my other camping gear. I totally get the sound difference, but the Sony seems a tad bulkier while the JBL can still be placed inside of a any pocket. The Clip wins as it definitely makes a lot more sense for the active person. JM2¢ 🤷🏽♀️
Phone is not a big deal to me..... but the design of the JBL is what drew me to it.... waterproof, and can clip onto spots within the shower.... also can clip to bikes, belt loops, bags, etc.... much more versatile. The Sony unit doesn't sound appreciably better to me, personally, and it's form factor is undesirable.
Sony is waterproof as well it doesn't have a clip but it has a strap. The sound of the Sony is way better and if you combined 2 together it's even better JBL can't do that. If you see it clearly Sony is winning in every category just the clip is better in JBL but Sony had the answer for that, the second best thing the strap so whatever you want to hang the JBL you can hang the Sony as well.
@@christianludes8943 yeah. Sony is distorted at high volume, and jbl is far louder... I'll pick JBL any day.. had few of their flip, go, charge speakers.. it never disappoint me
Just got the clip 4 and honestly I’m loving it, my girl and I always go for walks on the park with our dogs so the convenience of just clipping it is really nice, and the sound is great too, bass is not going to blow your mind, but no one is really buying these small speakers for their bass imo
@@gargieagnihotri at full volume it’s great for the size, it will fill a room nicely, outdoors it won’t sound as loud, but that’s with any small speaker, the good thing about the Xb-12 is that it has an aux port, the xb-13 doesn’t, but overall it’s a great speaker
I have the XB 12's from a few years ago. It's not the best in terms of volume but it does the job. I think the thing that puts it over the top compared to other speakers is the fact that it's pairable with another speaker, giving you a true stereo experience. You'll have speakers that sound better on their own but you can't pair them with a double. That feature sets the SONY XB series apart from it's competitors. if they ever were to fix the volume issues with these models while keeping the sound integrity these would be truly impressive.
Strongly agree with you Bro, Sony sounds way better. High are more defined and clear, Mids are well tuned and not outlandish. Bass are Deeper and pronounced. As per the JBL, yes its louder but the overall sound is dispersed like its coming from everywhere. Bass seems like just a midbass. I think its more built for podcast. SONY Wins!!!
The advantage of SONY is that it has 10 watts power output and 16 hrs battery life while JBL Clip 4 has only 5 watts with the battery of 10hrs running time..but both are waterproof and dustpoof.
So I just got the jbl clip as a present, I was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality. I wouldn't buy it for the new price, but if u can get it below 30 bucks u got your money's worth for sure
The one thing i noticed was the jlb must have a passive radiator which is flush to the desk diminishing bass performance whilst the sony has a free aero standing design for me the highs and mids are way far more clear on the jbl .. so floss if you really test these speakers would love to see them how there designed to be used by hanging/carried around and would love to see the dofference then

I just bought my XB13 over clip 4 today and you were right! Sony is the go for me! I'm so happy to have a pair of them and my room sound way better now!
I went to best buy about a week ago and listened to both of them i respect your choice but I definitely choose a jbl Sony wasn't as loud and clear as the jbl. In my opinion! Great video bro I always choose my tech based on you!
I own both of these. I always go for the clip, just because of it's versatility. Once you roll with the clip for awhile, you can't go back. I clip it on my tool belt at work , and jam all day.
That was an excellent review. I don’t need all the tech specs. Just an honest opinion of which one sounds better and that’s what you delivered. Thank you dude.

Sony audio is very overrated. LG have better HIFI systems, the lights they use on most the songs look cheap and ugly, and the drivers are old looking with the dust cap. Plus Sony genuinely have a lack in bass In person, I’ve heard them myself. The only thing they win at is being grandma bookshelf speakers
I had the og jbl clip, for a small speaker it sounded epic and had many functions like a built in aux. Then had a flip 2. Served me well but wasn't too loud in bass. Now I have a Beats Pill+ and it does sound good, but not 250 euros dope. luckely I've bought it when it was on sale
Thanks for this review. It helps me to inform people buying speakers at work. I have had many Sony products over the years, some hit and miss. I was curious about this speaker. I have the Go2 and Go3 and like them for small speakers, but this seems better for about twice the price. I may get one. I still like my Charge4 and may get a Charge5 soon.
Thanks for another great comparison video. I would go with the Sony xb13 no questions. I also just bought a jbl clip 4 and will be returning it immediately. It is not useable by a blind person like myself. The JBL clip 4 has no battery level indicator except for some lights on the speaker which doesn't do me any good at all. The battery status doesn't show up on my today screen like all my other bluetooth speakers. The JBL app doesn't work with the clip 4, because if it did, then I'm sure the battery level would show up there. I might have to pick up a sony xm13 once I return the JBL clip 4. Thanks also, for telling which speaker you were using when you were doing the sound tests. Again, as someone who can't see which speaker you are using, that does help a lot.

these sony speakers in stereo mode can be easy desktop speakers who wants small foot print or smaller table and they have good battery back up too. Nice video !!!
Sorry, but ur microphone also picked up the vibration sound coming from the table, that's why we're hearing the flat bass tone. The sound seized when you raised the speaker from the table. But it's a loud win for Sony.
Nothing beats Bose Micro (yeah, it's 100$ but it's worth it). By the way, Floss, are you going to make a review of new Sony Xperia? And B&O Explore portable speaker?
Can definitely feel the bass of the sony but Jbl has better highs. Overall sony wins as it has built in mic though I really love the clip feature of jbl clip
I think the JBL has a clearer sound than the Sony. But the lack of bass response is a big turn off for me. It sounded better when you lifted it up. The Sony has a passive radiator on the bottom that sends the vibrations to the surface. I had a tiny 3W swiss peak speaker with the same solution and when I put it on a flat roof I was working on, it was the best portable speaker my pal had heard. I bought the SRS-XB13 as a replacement.
Today I just purchased the sony srs-xb13 I love it, I did compared in store with clip 4 side by side like you did . Both of them are good speakers but sony is better in my opinion, not just sound but also design and colour (goes with my furniture :))) )
if you play it on Spotify, you can set the sound quality there, and I would like to know if you have the same sound quality set on both phones, because that can also make a difference
