      Or you call animal control if there are laws against allowing pets outside loose. If there aren't then the only thing you can do is educate the family and maybe fight to change local laws. Stealing someone's pet is not okay.

      @imzadi83fanvids7 Wouldn't that just lead to the authorities taking away the cat, or worse? That would not be good for a student's mental health, and mental health can affect grades, so... not a very helpful course of action I would think.

    • @imzadi83fanvids7
      @imzadi83fanvids7 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Possibly. But for a first offense it is more likely they would just educate the owners regarding laws and the dangers of outdoors. Further offenses would result in a fine and maybe confiscation of the animal.
      And as cruel as it sounds a child being upset because the cat was taking away isn't more important then that animal's life. Imagine that child witnessing their cat getting run over by a car, swooped up by a bird of prey, attacked by a dog, kicked by another child, etc. or simply not coming home one day because it got trapped somewhere it couldn't get out of, or ate a rodent that had eating poison someone had set out.@@gpettus9508

He was one of the kittens they kept and years ago he decided that he wanted to be an outdoor cat. We actually had this happen in my town but not at a school. A cat would always be outside in its yard, which happened to be next to a store. Well this cashier one day decided the cat isn’t safe and took it. She posted on a local fb page and the owner and other locals told her it lives there, it’s owners told her and asked for it back. The cashier then had a friend pick it up and took it 3 towns away. When it got there the cat escaped the car and got hit and was killed. All because some idiot thief stole a cat from its own yard. The fb page got pretty heated after that, as you can imagine. And the saddest part, the owners mother was actively dying from Alzheimer’s and all she kept asking for was her cat. She never forgot about the cat and passed a few days later. The daughter never told the mom what had happened to the cat bc she didn’t want to break her heart. People never cease to amaze me.

      @@karenjohnson5634 yeah, it was nuts. The cashier had the cat at the store for hours after she posted it on fb and everyone well telling her to just let it back outside, it lives there and was sitting on its own rock fence when she took it. She had even called local animal control to report it as a stray and even they told her no, it belongs there, it’s healthy, has access to shelter, food and water and it’s owners took care of it. They told her leave it alone. She literally ignored everyone. They didn’t even have a carrier so they just drove home with it loose in the car and they live right on a main road that’s pretty much a 2 lane highway with a concrete barrier and then another 2 lanes in the opposite direction. The cat darted out of the car right into the highway and had nowhere to run to. It all could’ve and should’ve been avoided. The girl tried to lie and made up a few stories saying she had returned it but in the end the truth came out and the poor lady lost her mother and pet within days of each other and bc of the cat drama the last few days with her mom was spent being tagged and messaged on fb drama. The town rallied around her and helped support her and she was offered a cat whenever she felt ready for another, if that time ever came. As for the cashier, the thief, she actually ended up getting charged by the local police bc pets are considered property. It wasn’t a felony or anything, and I’m sure the public lashing was punishment itself, but she was punished accordingly and I think she learned her lesson. She won’t over be able to make things right, but I don’t see her ever behaving like that again. I don’t think she will have a lot of opportunities to steal cats, but I think it will help her thinking in everything as a whole haha

    I lived accross tbe street from some kids that had a cat that would follow them to the school yard and would meet them after school and come homewith them. Thiswas on quiet street and was maybe half a block on in reality 4 houses away. The street had may e 7-8 hoises on that side. Never had trouble too i think he even went to watch tbe kid at recess and lunch sometimes from a safe place

    Oh some cat people are very "you must not be stimulating your cat enough, cats should be indoor only" blah blah blah. We have three. One we took in as a stray or throw away a really cold winter night ( not a baby but not fully grown)and two that were rescued as week old babies that we bottle fed. They enjoy going outside. We have a large yard they roam around in. Sure, theyve killed a couple of birds, but usually just mice and moles. They pout when its too cold or raining. But they go out for a bit and appear in my kitchen window when theyre ready for food, lovins and a nap. On beatiful days they just enjoy the weather and lounge on our back porch. They are living their best lives.

    It’s different if you find a cat and don’t know who it belongs to…But if someone says it’s their cat and they let it outside and it is healthy there is no excuse for stealing that cat! In my old neighborhood there was this very cute orange cat that would greet the kids of the neighborhood at the bus stop. A little chubby, and would let you pick him up. Very sweet and obviously had a home near by. Eventually we found the owner and sure enough they let their cat outside and he basically came back home every night.

    • @rockercaterrorencountered4924
      @rockercaterrorencountered4924 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      it's never healthy to let a cat outside. Domestic cats don't belong outside, they're not wild animals. They can get hit by cars, attacked by animals, infected with diseases including infectious feline leukemia, injured by malicious humans, the list goes on. Plus, they're extremely destructive to local wildlife.

    • @HarlequinsHappyHour
      @HarlequinsHappyHour 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @rafe5072 the cat was an outside cat since birth. She doesn't like being inside. I had 2 indoor cats in addition. This cat pulled the weather stripping off a door trying to go out. She sits and cries at the birds outside, she has broken windows getting out... Sometimes you can't keep them from what they want. She tore the carpet up in the neighbor's house and broke the covering for her pet door, she tore up the sheets and the doors in that house. Part of how I find her is by her screams. So it's fine and good to say keep them inside but unfortunately that's not always an option. She's heavily medicated on sedatives provided by my vet to keep her inside and frankly I think that sucks, but I don't have another option unless I want to continuously fix the damage in my house. The cat is unhappy and on drugs. Healthy, but extremely unhappy. Sucks. Continue talking out your ass though, it's a really good look.

We did, but they didn't answer and I don't think they were open. We waited there for a few minutes thinking about what to do, when a lady came running down the street and she told us that that was her dog and it had gotten away from her in the yard. So she took her dog back and I went to school. I'm glad my school secretary didn't try to just shoo me inside and leave the dog out there.

In my generation (I was in elementary school in late 90s/early aughts) if you told a story like this, a teacher (at my school at least) would prob be like “that couldn’t have happened.” And then the kid is just left to feel messed up and alone the rest of the day.

    Cats are incredibly smart with directions, and can travel pretty far in a short amount of time. When allowed outside they will recognize how to get home no matter how far they walked. I had a cat who grew up outside and refused to be an indoor cat. So we let him go out when he wanted, he'd go out for a few hours but he always came home. One time a neighbor found him wondering a few miles away from our home and brought him back to us. He never wore a collar and had actually attacked people who'd try to take him anywhere but home. And my current is is turning out very similar, she taught herself to use the doggy door and has only missed dinner time once, and only by 20 minutes (I think she was sleeping) and will always come when called. The point I am trying to get at. If you see a cat on the street that looks healthy and is affectionate, leave the cat alone. If you are worried, keep an eye on them from a distance, if they don't stray too far from the area you found them and don't seem to belong to a neighbor, or they visibly start to look weaker, then you step in. But if it's a healthy happy cat, they probably have a home they want to get back to at some point.

    This happened to me. My family used to take care of a little outdoor cat that belonged to the previous owners of our house, until they got back from a few month long trip to pick her up. She is the sweetest little cat who loves kids. This happened when I was around 8 or 9-ish. We lived right next to the elementary school me and my brother went to, so we could just walk over to the school. Boots, (The cat), would always walk with use to school. She would sometimes show up during recess, and let the kids pet her. One day, one of the teachers picked her up, and took her inside the school. Eight year old me was crying and asking her not to take her, but she still did. I told my mom about it when I got home. She was pretty pissed off they just took the cat. My mom called them, and got Boots back. I understand if the cat was being aggressive towards the kids, but she wasn’t. She’s the sweetest little thing, who loves people, and they just randomly scooped her up and took her away. The situation probably wasn’t as dramatic as it seemed at the time, but to an eight year old, it was crushing and pretty scary, I had no idea what they were gonna do to the cat. Moral of the story: Don’t steal little kids cats
