Yes...the plug is definitely worth a mention! You know what they say, Chad..."There's those that have, and those that will." 😉👍
Very true! I forgot the plug on the Nautique just once - and only for abou 3 minutes. Thankfully, it's installed from the inside, and right by the mid-engine. Plus - the Nautique has 2 bilge pumps - so it can move A LOT of water.
Rule 2) use driveway marking reflectors in holes drilled in your trailer to make it visible over your tail gate.
And Rule 3) &4) boat keys get their own floating keyring and get alot of copies of it, one in the glove box of the tow vehicle, console of the tow vehicle, one in the ash tray of the tow vehicle, one in your swimsuit, one in the ignition
An idea to make the trailer more visible is using some markers that protrude far enough out to be able to see them in the mirrors. (I think someone mentioned that before) I'd also make sure that your vehicles parking brake is kept adjusted to make sure it will hold on the slope of the ramp. I've seen trucks slide backwards into the water along with their boat. It makes for a humorous video, but an obvious costly error. Thanks for sharing, Chad! I hope you and Jennifer had a fun day at the lake. 😎🏖
We spent just over a week at the lake - and it was a great vacation! Great point about making sure the brakes can hold the vehicles. I too have been entertained by videos of trucks sliding backwards into the lake - but I certainly would never want to experience it in person. :)
Love your channel- a lot of your content I would never be able to learn otherwise. Thank you for sharing
I appreciate that! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Rule 1) Put the drain plug in.
Great vid !
Thanks!
How come you don t use the ranger for this job seems perfect
Excellent question. It would seem like a perfect task for the Ford Ranger except for 2 main concerns:
1 - 2 wheel drive. The ramp gets very slick and can be a problem for 2 wheel drive vehicles to pull the boats back up the ramp.
2 - standard transmission. I trust my emergency brake - but I don't know that I trust it THAT much. :)
We never put the hubs in the water. How often do you repack the bearings in those hubs.😮
Do you mean the hubs of the trailer? Any boat we have always requires the trailer axle to be submerged in order to get the boat on and off the trailer. If you're talking about the truck axle - we don't usually go that deep that the hubs would be under.
@@PurpleCollarLife Yes the trailer.
