Nicholas Renthlei Same, that reason is what got me to buy the silverfed/runecrafters after putting it off. When I heavily farm chains I often need to make 3+ mystic kits to cover everything as I let the stacks build up and do it in one go. Silverfeds great for the unlimited use!

Excellent video! You described the real uses of these kits very well. I have a slightly different perspective on the buy order of the kits. Copper fed is #1 to be sure. But I would place Runecrafters at #2. Three reasons: 1. As you said, it has a function that cannot be duplicated by any other kit.. 100% upgrade salvage. Silver fed is simply a convenient Master's or Mystic salvage kit. 2. I get far more green unid drops than anything else. The 80% increase in rune and sigil salvage rate over the copper fed kit is substantial since it also greatly increases the number of chances you have for a valuable charm drop. 3. Eventually I did buy the Silver-Fed kit because you do only get a limited amount of stones and they have other uses. Worth noting, since the anniversary is ongoing until I think September, more account items and upgrades are going to be on sale. There's no sure-fire way to know what is going on sale or when. 5:50 to clarify, you do not get an increase of 5% for rarer materials, but instead an increase of 25% compared to do Runecrafters, these 25% more ectos, pays of more
In my opinion, the rune crafter is worth buying over the silver fed. You can use mystic salvage kits in place of the rune crafter. Also, if you don't have the rune crafter, you'll be using the copper fed on greens which has an 80% less chance of salvaging runes. Rune crafter equals more runes which equal more gold while silver fed is equivalent to mystic salvage kits.
I have copper and sliver on my share inventory. I use copper on blue and green items and silver on yellow. I agree that it's more like the quality of life upgrade but my god, I've never regretted buying it any second lol.
Salvaging rarer materials doesn't mean "extra" like you say in the video, it just means it will replace whatever the common salvage is from that item. You actually show this with the silk level item giving gossamer instead.
Awesome video! And YES when purchasing these specifically you are looking for quality of life/save time. I thought of this channel when I saw those hit the gem store. Thank you for putting this video together. Everyone do this man a favor and simply like these videos :)
I definitely would get the runecrafters one over the silver one. The silver one is exactly the same as the gold rarity kit, that can easily be turned into a 250 use kit via mystic forge and a few stones. The runecrafter does not exist from the vendor kits and is a substantial upgrade to what you can get from salvaging green gear.
As Mukluk was saying how these were a quality of life improvement, I realized the real value of these gem store kits is saving _time_ while doing salvaging because you don't have to constantly buy kits. I wonder how much quicker you can go through a stack of 250 blues, 250 greens and 250 yellows with these gem store kits vs. buying the normal kits? (Although I suppose Mystic Salvage kits would even things a bit) It might end up only be a few seconds for each item but I would think that can add up over a year. And time is really the most valuable resource while playing an MMO. I think I'll end up getting them afterall (once they're on sale again lol)
Agree and you also save Inventory space as I played for many years before I bought any Permanent Salvage kit and had to have 5-6 Salvage kit (=5-6 Inventory slot occupied) everywhere I went to be able to fast salvage and dispose to Material Storage all materials that can be used or sold later (and increasing stacks in MS also helps a lot over time). It is not a Quality of Life anymore in my opinion as it changes how you can play (hate to have that darn pop up blocking everything in Inventory until you delete something or sell it). With Action Camera mode it causes also interruption during fights if you autoloot and suddenly have a full Inventory on your character. Those Salvage kits reduce this kind of problems a lot. All three have its use and save time from crafting those other non-permanent Salvage kits. Runecrafter's Salvage kit is the one that is important for increasing chance of getting Charms (something that cost a lot to buy at BLTP).
Another very useful video on the Gemstore items! I saw these two were reduced and was wondering if it was worth getting them before they went off of sale(was in the process of researching it myself when I saw your video in my other tab). I'll definitely go ahead with it now. Thanks Muk!
for getting runes and sigils back i have got my endless upgrade extractor anyways. that was one of the most valuable things i have got from the gem store since then i'd say. it was a bit confusing though because the description says "consumable" just like the master's salvage kit for example and these are used up on usage.
With the current price of ecto being 80% less than it was when this video came about, 60 vs 30 copper might prove a bit too much for a 5% difference in chance. Can you revisit this Muk?
I misread salvaging upgrades. I took it to mean that I would recover the upgrade off undamaged. Sometimes I had a % change of pulling the upgrade off when salvaging with a fine salvage kit. don't know if it was a glitch but it happened a few times.
I think you've mentioned this in a previous video but I think it's relevant here: if I have the copper fed and the silver fed which one should I use for greens?
I don't quite get the math at 10:10 where you say you get up to 25% more ectoplasm, when going from 20% to 25% with the salvage kits. Also at 7:10 you say that if you only have the copper-fed, then use this on blue items, but the mystic salvage kit on green and above. But what I hear from other videos is that it is better to also use the copper-fed on greens and mystic only on yellow and orange. Could you clarify that? Thanks!
To clarify: 25% (or 1/4th) of 20% is 5% 20% + 5% =25% 25% is 25% more than 20%. I believe the confusion is that some people thought I meant additive, not multiplicative. So if you were getting 4 ectos per X salvages before, you will average 5 now instead. At 7:10 I said use mystic salvage kit on the other... and didn't clarify. I agree with what you said.
Actually, it really makes total sense to say 25% more. Somehow I thought of it as a bonus of 20% or 25%, but at 0% you would get zero ectos, not have 20 or 25% higher chance than some base value. Stupid me...
I would love to see a full guide on salvaging since it's such a common activity. What has best profit margins for each gear vs what is recommended for most users. For instance I have a lot of black lion salvage kits from logins, so I use these for exotics since it does not salvage the runes and some runes can be sell for quite a bit. But I'm not sure best practices for ascended gear, I've heard it's better to upgrade rings to attuned or infused before or something like that.
These items in shared slots is one of the best QoL items to ever exist. Also on that cough on world boss portal device, personally i've used it a lot, and it has gained me 100's of gold so far, Not started icebrood, but it takes you to the eye of the north dragonstorm encounter, been doing that daily thanks to the portal device :)
I use the Boss teleporter all the time. Especially during the world boss rush. The Jungle one though.......kind of wish it was just built into the world boss one...
I have and use all 3 frequently. I regretted buying the Runecrafter kit until I learned that it was best to use on greens a couple months ago. I've purchased shared inventory slots that are purely dedicated for the kits, and love them. The Silver Fed kit could be replaced with the mystic kit, because I have so many forge stones, but the infinite uses is such a boon. I would personally recommend buying, like Muk said, at least the Silver Fed (if you already have the Copper Fed) especially at this low of a price.
Unindentified farms usually give more greens than blues and yellows, so for new players that want to start farming, i believe its good to start with runecrafter's.
Could you make a guide on easiest way to get high slot bags? You mentioned in another video on how you equipped your ranger with all 32 slot bags and it peaked my curiosity.
I covered that in the inventory management guide: th-cam.com/video/PswfSKO7qTE/w-d-xo.html TLDR: reinforced olmakhan bandolier, or in icebrood saga: reinforced boreal trunks
I think personally runecrafter would be better to buy (if you already have copper, and obvs use it on greens) and then just use mystic salvage kits (250 uses) on rares, you have to salvage an insane amount of rares IMO to get a silver-fed, like ive been playing this game for 7 years and ive never run out of mystic forge stones which you need to craft a mystic salvage kit.
Same, I have 2 stacks of stones in my bank and more are coming in a few days with the birthday presents. I was thinking about the silver one, but really doesn't worth it, with this amount of stones I already have.
@@chrisindie I have 3 alt accounts and even those have been accumulating mystic forge stones I feel like I'm drowning in them. Well not really, but it's just, I acquire more than I use on salvage kits
Silver makes sense only for heavy farmers, that's the use case. If you have to salvage a couple stacks of rares every day, you run out of mystic stones very fast. For normal players, mystic kit is plenty. For most players copper, runes and mystic kits is enough.
The problem with all these sales + being a newish player is that I'm out of gold to convert into gems lol! I can only hope that they will go on sale in future...
I never convert gold to gems (unless im only like one or two gems short) because it would take me much more time to earn the gold to pay for $10 dollars in gems than to just earn $10 extra at work.
@@guardiangibbs2663 it's still nice to have this feature of you are a student who doesn't have money, or have parents who won't let you spend money on this
I haven't used my silver fed for ages because I'm still crafting and using Mystic salvage kits because I can craft alot of them . I too think he should had covered that and recommended using Mystic salvage kits if you can craft them of course.
Lucent motes are 48 copper right now, you will make back the Runecrafters salvage cost of the green on that alone. This is due to the insane amounts of lucent motes needed to craft a legendary relic. Any relics will ofcourse be a big chunk of money because people need those for craft tons of legendries now.
After watching the copper salvage o matic I bought it and have used it all the time and it makes life so easier..Thanks a lot. But question: how often do the charms come from the green gear?To me sounds like perfect opportunity to get them. Thanks a lot
He did Tequatl on the stream last night when the world boss rush was up, and he said that he hadn't been there in ages. Apparently, the spoon dropped then as well :).
Hmm. It costs 50 gems per Mystic Forge Stone and you need 3 for a Mystic Salvage Kit. 150 gems cost 62g 94s 75c, making a Mystic Salvage Kit effectively worth 63g 20s 99c - which works out to 25s 28.4c per use. Ouch. Maybe when I run out of Stones (only have 53 left) and Kits (got like 18 of them at the moment - 1 on each character and another 9 or so in the bank :P) I'll consider getting the Silver-Fed to go with my current Copper-Fed. Might pick up the Runecrafter's the next time it goes on sale, though.
As a new player that has not purchased anything other than LW stories, do you have a suggestion of what is more important than these three objects? I was thinking of getting them but I know there's a lot of QOL things that are highly suggested as well.
For me personally #1 is copper fed salvageomatic #2 is buying expanded material storage (lets you hold 500 of each material in material bank instead of 250 of each) #3 is living worlds #4 .... maybe infinite gathering tools, but thats a big step from 3
@@MuklukTH-cam Thank you for your help! For the infinite gathering tools, which ones are 'best'? I'm not very familiar with them and there's a lot of conflicting and old information on the internet.

nice video unfotunatly I was not able to buy the Copper-fed Salvage-Kit when it was on discount. Sould i buy the silver now or buy the copper after i am able to get the gems for the copper ?
@@achileas4895 I personally would recommend getting the copperfed as the priority. Only get silverfed if you will be able to buy both. This is because you can easily survive for a long time using mystic salvage kits until you can later get silver fed
Black Lion Salvage Kit is free to use, but has only 25 uses. It does not *salvage* upgrades, it extracts them, meaning the sigil or rune is recovered intact. Often, with a rare item, the sigil or rune can be worth more than the item itself! I use BLSKits for rares only.
What Qui Quae Wuod said, it will destroy the item, but you will get the rune or sigil back. Can be useful if you need to get back a rune like "rune of the monk" which are a pain to buy because they use dungeon currency. Or if you see a rune of force on an item (worth a few gold at least) and you want to sell the rune.
Let me politely disagree on the personal opinion level, not on mathematical level, since runecrafters salvager is unique in its own category as u said I would rather have that over a silver-fed one. For silver-fed ones I can just make mystic kits myself anytime I want anyways
i have both the silverfed and the copperfed salvagers and without this video i almost bought the runecrafters cause i thought it was an upgrade what apperently its not, now my question is with silver and copper fed salvagers whats the best to use for greens? thx in advance
Copper by far. You will be losing quite a bit using silver on greens. 60c vs 3c is significant, you can't make up 57c per salvage on lucent motes, charms on greens (on the long run).
Considering you're shelling 600 gems, after how many uses is this runecrafter salvager worth it ? If we talk return-on-investement wouldn't it be far better to just convert the gems to gold since you have the copper-fed one already ? edit : Nvm I missed the last part of the video*
I think I found a serious contender variant I'd like you to review. How would I go about doing that? Would you try it if I explained it here? Would you look at it if I made a video? Serious question
Silver was on offer so i bought it blindly without researching this, to be honest i didnt give a f...., i just bought it for the offer and to not buy kits again, still good vid
I think the Silver Fed is not worth it. Salvaging a whole stack with it will cost you 1,5G, whereas the Mystic just costs 26s + 3 Mystic Forge Stones (I have plenty of them laying around).
But the black lion slavage kit cost only 300 gem and has 100% on recover upgrade and 50% on rarer material. Isn't that the best one? Or is that a 1 use??
why would they get the silver fed? I only carry two stacks of master salvage kits and it lasts for ages. mystic would be even better. I'd much rather get the extra silver per green on the runecrafter's
Heavy farmers burn through mystic kits very fast, and you need forge stones(not that easy to obtain) to make those kits. For everybody else, mystic is ok, you don't need silver-fed.
One thing to emphasize, if you don't have any of these yet: DON'T SALVAGE (or open and salvage) UNIDENTIFIED GREENS WITH THE BASIC SALVAGE KIT. Just sell them on the TP, at the time of this writing is like TWICE as much money, even considering the occasional rare. I'll go even further, here's an unpopular opinion, but one based on math: if you don't have any of these yet, and haven't unlocked ALL of the living world seasons, or just want to use your gold for in-game stuff like legendaries, JUST TP UNIDENTIFIED BLUES AND GREENS. Seriously, people spend all this effort to get these gem store items, including shared inventory slots, when realistically you're only getting like 10% on greens and 15% on blues. It's just not worth it. You can make that up by just playing the actual game, rather than losing your sanity playing an inventory management minigame.
This discussion in the GW2 forums says that runecrafter is better. en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/64720/which-salvage-kit-should-i-use-recommendations-now-with-data I dunno what to believe now. The numbers seem to suggest runecrafter, but thats from 2019...

(Although I suppose Mystic Salvage kits would even things a bit)
It might end up only be a few seconds for each item but I would think that can add up over a year.
Huge inventory space saves waay more time
Another very useful video on the Gemstore items! I saw these two were reduced and was wondering if it was worth getting them before they went off of sale(was in the process of researching it myself when I saw your video in my other tab). I'll definitely go ahead with it now. Thanks Muk!
I was just thinking about the differences between them yesterday thank you
More detailed beginners guide please. I loved your first one. Could use more tips bc I’m trash!!
thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it, will try to save and buy the sirve one :D
Now we need a shared inventory slot sale😁
Can we buy more shared slots? I only have 1 and it has a lvl80 booster that is useless.
@@blackcitadel37 yes, but it's expensive.
Probably not gonna matter, but happened to see your post from 9 months ago and there *is* a shared inventory slot sale right this moment!
@@tzarofwind9095 No sale now :(
Sweet, I stumbled into having the two recommended ones ... fluke! Thx Muk, awesome as usual.
for getting runes and sigils back i have got my endless upgrade extractor anyways. that was one of the most valuable things i have got from the gem store since then i'd say. it was a bit confusing though because the description says "consumable" just like the master's salvage kit for example and these are used up on usage.
With the current price of ecto being 80% less than it was when this video came about, 60 vs 30 copper might prove a bit too much for a 5% difference in chance. Can you revisit this Muk?
"Give me convenience or give me Death!"- Thomas Paine as a modern American consumer.
I misread salvaging upgrades. I took it to mean that I would recover the upgrade off undamaged. Sometimes I had a % change of pulling the upgrade off when salvaging with a fine salvage kit. don't know if it was a glitch but it happened a few times.
It used to be like that until they changed the sigil and rune economy. Now only the black lion salvage kit recovers the upgrade.
Been waiting for this, thanks a lot for all the info.
I think you've mentioned this in a previous video but I think it's relevant here: if I have the copper fed and the silver fed which one should I use for greens?
Copper
I don't quite get the math at 10:10 where you say you get up to 25% more ectoplasm, when going from 20% to 25% with the salvage kits.
Also at 7:10 you say that if you only have the copper-fed, then use this on blue items, but the mystic salvage kit on green and above. But what I hear from other videos is that it is better to also use the copper-fed on greens and mystic only on yellow and orange.
Could you clarify that? Thanks!
To clarify:
25% (or 1/4th) of 20% is 5%
20% + 5% =25%
25% is 25% more than 20%.
I believe the confusion is that some people thought I meant additive, not multiplicative. So if you were getting 4 ectos per X salvages before, you will average 5 now instead.
At 7:10 I said use mystic salvage kit on the other... and didn't clarify. I agree with what you said.
Makes sense, thanks a lot for the reply!
I'll add it to the list (its a long list lol)
@@MuklukTH-cam you've been doing a great job so far! I think you guides are some of the easiest to follow
I was literally just researching this, lol
I got here as fast as I could. :D
Thx. Was using copper on Green, blue and lower ...time to change xd
Unindentified farms usually give more greens than blues and yellows, so for new players that want to start farming, i believe its good to start with runecrafter's.
I bought copper fed today ... i already feel difference :D thanks!
Could you make a guide on easiest way to get high slot bags? You mentioned in another video on how you equipped your ranger with all 32 slot bags and it peaked my curiosity.
I covered that in the inventory management guide: th-cam.com/video/PswfSKO7qTE/w-d-xo.html
TLDR: reinforced olmakhan bandolier, or in icebrood saga: reinforced boreal trunks
@@MuklukTH-cam So you have ESP, looked into the future at my impending question and made a video for it in advance. Nice! Subbed!
@@taegiseoktrash8874 Yes, me too. I guess I will save my gems for a shared inventory slot or something.
It's like a giant rotation, they will definitely come back 🤗
I never convert gold to gems (unless im only like one or two gems short) because it would take me much more time to earn the gold to pay for $10 dollars in gems than to just earn $10 extra at work.
@@guardiangibbs2663 it's still nice to have this feature of you are a student who doesn't have money, or have parents who won't let you spend money on this

I was hoping to see a silver fed vs mystic cost comparison, 60 copper per use seems pricey.
I haven't used my silver fed for ages because I'm still crafting and using Mystic salvage kits because I can craft alot of them . I too think he should had covered that and recommended using Mystic salvage kits if you can craft them of course.
Hmmm I knew I was saving gems for a reason. I know what I’m doing when I get home tonight! Thanks Muk!
Great info but why there is only coper one on gem store, checked few times and can't find rune or silver one🤔
Rune fed and silver fed are not always on the store, they appear on a rotation, but copperfed is always available.
@@MuklukTH-cam rotation you mean every few weeks on store?
@@spartt4360 Basically yeah, I don't have an exact timer for it but that is the right idea.
Wait, in your shop it's showing the Infinite Lava Lounge Pass on sale, but it's not being sold at all in my shop?
Lucent motes are 48 copper right now, you will make back the Runecrafters salvage cost of the green on that alone. This is due to the insane amounts of lucent motes needed to craft a legendary relic. Any relics will ofcourse be a big chunk of money because people need those for craft tons of legendries now.
thanks for this info and it is now 78 copper.
when are they available on the gem store? seems like they were not for purchase for like...forever.
I came here considering which one of the higher rare% kits I'd like whenever they return and left wanting the copper kit. Funny development, that!
Please continue to do these videos about gem store purchases. I've become addicted to the gemstore but don't want to waste them lol
I'm spending gems not for profit, I'm spending gems to help arenanet keep game running ^_^
Would it be a good idea to unlock the skins before you salvage them?
salvaging a skin automatically unlocks it
Ive had a copper fed and silver fed kit for a while and I am glad I did. I probably wont get the runecrafter just to salvage greens
black lion salvage kit is used on what then. If people use silver fed on rare and exotic?
Black lion kit is basically used when you want to 100% extract the contents of an item, such as getting a valuable rune, sigil, or infusion from it.
I looked on the gem store and couldn’t find the runecrafters. Did they remove it?
They come to the store every 3 to 6 months.
After watching the copper salvage o matic I bought it and have used it all the time and it makes life so easier..Thanks a lot. But question: how often do the charms come from the green gear?To me sounds like perfect opportunity to get them. Thanks a lot
I don't have exact numbers, but I can tell you you will get a lot of lucent motes between each charm, the charms are like an "uncommon" drop.
I got Copper and Silver, wich one should i use on green ?
Copper IMO in that situation.
Is it best to Mystic forge greens to get rares?
Why do you have a teq spoon in your inventory?
To eat pudding.
No but seriously I cleaned my bags up since filming this lol.
Might pick up the Runecrafter's the next time it goes on sale, though.
thx muk for the info..just bought it!!!~
Thank you Muk for exlaining this :)
As a new player that has not purchased anything other than LW stories, do you have a suggestion of what is more important than these three objects? I was thinking of getting them but I know there's a lot of QOL things that are highly suggested as well.
For me personally
#1 is copper fed salvageomatic
#2 is buying expanded material storage (lets you hold 500 of each material in material bank instead of 250 of each)
#3 is living worlds
#4 .... maybe infinite gathering tools, but thats a big step from 3
@@MuklukTH-cam Thank you for your help! For the infinite gathering tools, which ones are 'best'? I'm not very familiar with them and there's a lot of conflicting and old information on the internet.
@@RavenWolfStarcraft2 At the moment I believe the "best" ones are volatile gathering. But I'll be trying to squeeze in a video on that in the near future if possible.
@@MuklukTH-cam Ok thank you and thank you again for your wonderful videos!
The build storage was on sale?
nice video unfotunatly I was not able to buy the Copper-fed Salvage-Kit when it was on discount.
Sould i buy the silver now or buy the copper after i am able to get the gems for the copper ?
yes silverfed and a copper fed is a must have for any player
@@wernos3575 so is it better to buy the silver now ?
@@achileas4895 yes
@@wernos3575 thank you a lot :)
@@achileas4895 I personally would recommend getting the copperfed as the priority. Only get silverfed if you will be able to buy both. This is because you can easily survive for a long time using mystic salvage kits until you can later get silver fed
So let's say I only have the copper salvage kit, what would be best for salvaging greens? Mystic or Copper?
I'd use copper in that secnario.
@@MuklukTH-cam thanks!
Mukluk at the time of recording this video, if you look at the chatbox at timestamp 6:36:
"I will have guide for that!" 😂👍🏻
these are on sale again, has anything changed in a year?
Nope, all details within this vid remain true
So what do the black lion salvage kit do? Ascended salvage kit equivalent or something? Is it a gold fed salvage kit?
Black Lion Salvage Kit is free to use, but has only 25 uses. It does not *salvage* upgrades, it extracts them, meaning the sigil or rune is recovered intact. Often, with a rare item, the sigil or rune can be worth more than the item itself! I use BLSKits for rares only.
@@quiquaequod322 Same
What Qui Quae Wuod said, it will destroy the item, but you will get the rune or sigil back.
Why i would buy a silver fed if i can use a 250 use cheaper option?
I have 4 copper salvage o matics. I bought them before the share account slots for all my characters. Can i get a refund or delete them?
Thx for the informative video!
i have both the silverfed and the copperfed salvagers and without this video i almost bought the runecrafters cause i thought it was an upgrade what apperently its not, now my question is with silver and copper fed salvagers whats the best to use for greens? thx in advance
Copper by far. You will be losing quite a bit using silver on greens. 60c vs 3c is significant, you can't make up 57c per salvage on lucent motes, charms on greens (on the long run).
@@yarielsuarez2524 thank you very much
Considering you're shelling 600 gems, after how many uses is this runecrafter salvager worth it ? If we talk return-on-investement wouldn't it be far better to just convert the gems to gold since you have the copper-fed one already ?
edit : Nvm I missed the last part of the video*
I think I found a serious contender variant I'd like you to review. How would I go about doing that? Would you try it if I explained it here? Would you look at it if I made a video? Serious question
if rune can get you symbols or charms in exchange of 5% chance to get ectos, is silver still better than rune?
My question would be what's the average value of the upgrades that the runecrafters get?
Motes are literal trash.
@@PsychicWhiskers yes they are but the average value depends on the value of the other drops and their drop rate.
so if I was using silver-fed for greesn and below, and mystics for yellow and above, I was excercising with mystics for no reason at all? xD
Does the math say exactly how much extra on average do u profit from each kit per salvage ?
But the black lion slavage kit cost only 300 gem and has 100% on recover upgrade and 50% on rarer material. Isn't that the best one? Or is that a 1 use??
BL kit has 25 uses then its gone I believe.
great video man keep it up!!!!!
Awesome! Today I checked those and they weren't on sale! Thanks a lot!
Understood and sold!
why would they get the silver fed?
GW2 is an inventory management game. The only question is how long do you put off dealing with it until your bags are literally bursting.
Thank you for the helpful video!!
I’ve been ripping the copper on exotics and yellows and I don’t think anyone can stop me
Thanks for the information
This discussion in the GW2 forums says that runecrafter is better.

Mystic Salvage kit seems better for now for higher gear salvage.
