To give Louis XIV credit, most of these women weren't extraordinary beauties - portraitists did know how to paint accurate likenesses. And Le Roi Soliel kept them on well past the bloom of youth. He valued their wit, personality, vivacity - and usefulness as advisors and agents of his policy - much more than we moderns want to admit. Female talent was not locked out of power and advancement.
Having access to decent food and being able to bathe more regularly than most often meant a woman would be considered good-looking. Also, blonde hair, pale skin, and blue eyes were graded on a curve.
The AI tends to try to "fix" the Hapsburg lip, jaw and nose. Many, if not most of the royalty during that age were all related. The Hapsburg lower lip is seen to be larger and protrude somewhat, the nose is VERY thin and somewhat hooked at the end and the jaw is often weaker than modern jaws. These are all inherited features from the Hapsburg tendency to inbreed. Look carefully at the actual portraits and pay particular attention to the bottom lip and width of the mouth. The AI will fill out the upper lip and widen the mouth, almost always.
As much as I love these and appreciate the work you do, I think they’d look more authentic if they were shown with far less makeup, it wasn’t how ladies were presented back then
Guess it was the taste of that period of time what was called beauty. Probably their demeanour, smile, esprit contributed much more to their beauty. And lots of the portraits were not really that good anyway. I bet they looked much better in reality.
Marie Mancini was uniquely beautiful. Looking at her striking features in the original portrait painting, I immediately thought…”ahhh, one of the hundreds of thousands of people who could trace their ancestry back centuries to the ever-prolific Genghis Kahn.” She has a somewhat Eurasian look. I'll be honest, these AI images are very flattering to some of these ladies. It would be great if you could do AI recreations of the founding fathers and other American historic figures, especially, those who lived before photography and movies. There was a tv show called " Head of the Class", in which the teacher talked about people in history who we will never know what they sounded liked when they talked- what they looked like when they walked.
Yes, they are really beautiful. The King Louis XIV had choose them meticulously! It's fascinating to see how these ladies have certain types of beauty that are close to one and another (like in real life).
Fascinating, inspiring, wonderful AI recreations in color, moving in real & AI landscapes, they appear to come alive. I know the challenges, it labor of artist's love of drawing, painting, hrs capturing person's life on canvas, paper, sculpting as I took portrait art classes when I was in university. If patron, husband, family isn't happy, best to scape paint off & try again to recreate new look to satisfy everyone.
Feel like I could fit in with the mistresses, chins and all lol. I wonder how much stylization was done in the paintings, like a lot of them had large eyes and the same small pouty lips.
Wow all those women are beautiful I love it well done and keep up the great work you’re doing I love your videos they’re the best like any other ones but yours awesome😁👍.
I think there was a certain style to paint these ladies as they were. Some of them are very alike. Louis must have liked this type of woman. No wonder the ai is creating similar women also. Interesting.
A true beauty ( physical ) has perfect facial symmetry, perfect bone structure, perfect countenance, perfect blemish free skin, perfect hair and looks perfectly beautiful ( pleasing to the eye ) from any angle. Man or woman. Beautiful smile an eyes. Even a dirty look is hot. That’s true physical beauty. Doesn’t always mean they’re beautiful on the inside though.

Excuse me, but modern make-up for AI images kills it all… and makes them look the same. Individuality has lost completely. Thats what actually happening with women nowadays.
I think it looks identical because of the nose. If you notice no matter what painting the noses are similarly, I think it was a genetic thing or the way it was painted.
I like this, Maybe people were not always this pretty, still the realism is so lifelike compared to the painters'. Relentlessly trained comportment was critical for these folks as well, to be sure they looked as beautiful as possible.
I found an error in AI. All the black eyes in the picture have been changed to blue eyes. the AI changed all the portraits of people with black eyes to blue eyes.
Women of incredible beauty. For many of these women, is a bit generous. Attractive perhaps but some kind of paradigm of perfection. Maybe not such a high pedestal maybe in order? Also maybe get out more would be good.
It just proves Louis had a look he liked. He was known to have a very healthy appetite for liaisons with ladies of the court. He was handsome, certainly in his youth, although his breath was bad due to his liking for sugary treats, which led to bad teeth. He promised Mesdames De Maintenon he would give up the mistresses when they secretly married. However temptation was too great.
He apparently did, given he was older by the time he married her. The liaison novelty probably wore off and he become more serious/religious in older age.
He did stop actually. There were no recorded mistresses after the secret marriage. Plus his sister-in-law, Princess Palatine, wrote in her letters that the king would spend all Day in Madame de Maintenon's chamber.
Those water fountains in the background, what kind of energy source made them work back in the 17th century? I mean, nowadays we need some kind of water pump.
Painters back then corrected imperfections of their subjects in order to please them. Who’s going to buy a ( realistic ) bad painting of themselves? You would never get another commission!
You can tell when they immediately do the side-by-side comparison there is a big difference in looks. When the AI-image starts moving around, all of a sudden they lose around 20 - 30 pound and look like beauty models.
It’s fascinating but I echo what others are saying, they’ve been prettified to modern day standards. Then you can see they clearly didn’t use eye makeup
The problem is that in those days, paintings were still being manipulated by the painters to benefit the look of the day as instructed by the subjects. Puffy faces and bodies was 'in'. (Or to please Louis) Therefor the similarities.

Some of the paintings don't make them look very good at all, but the AI makes several changes.
