EP1 and EP2 still the best things Nerve ever did
YES
These guys are plain AMAZING!!! This video made my morning. Jojo is the fucking man. And that bassist is doing some very innovative things on a freaking bass guitar. And it's not just from effect pedals. That's raw talent and ears for something new and deep. I love this band and all it's members. Come to Nashville, TN....Please! Or Jojo, please do a drum clinic at my apartment in Nashville. It'll all be cool, right??? Amazing shit, for sure!
CHRIST WHAT A AWESOME STUDIO...
I need to see you live before I die
same man same... shitty thing is... Jojo Mayer played in my city 10 years ago and I did not know shit....
BRO, I finally saw Jojo Mayer in Vienna in 2022, even though it was probably the shittiest year of my life, that night saved the year for me. Jojo's energy was even bigger than I could ever imagine. Definitely, a concert you must go to before you die! One of the greatest experiences of my life for sure, I could feel Jojo Mayer's kick in my heart, and his energy stayed with me for the entire year.
still love it!!
@CowbellNinja Thanks man, it's kinda cool after checking it out. I always use to want a marching snare in my drum kit.
@Musicaman12
Ok guys I looked it up on Guitar Center under the drums and Cymbals effects I believe it's a ring which is called a dustbowel.
I think it's the remining ring from the dustbowel that you put on to hi hats and cymbals and you can put it on toms, Snares as well.
This tune is a beast, great drum beat.
It looks like the outer inch of a cymbal. I'm not sure if there's a company that produces these yet, but it can be made using a metalworking lathe (some say dremel tools work fine). Most metalworking shops will do this for a relatively cheap price if you supply the cymbal.
"..I just wanna play this live." Hero.
Rectification: "I don't want to edit any of this stuff because I wanna play them live! i don't want to touch them or modify them because that what everybody else does."
in the 60s all drummers played without edits
So ahead of their time
i love this guy
man that first track is groovyyyy!!!! Awesome stuff! ;)
awesome!
IMO the best electronic, techno, DnB music out there. I know music and for the most part life isnt about money or anything but does anyone know how many albums they sold or how much these guys make?
they lose money on their records lmao
the bass guitar sounds pretty massive; and as usual, Jojo is awesome
@noisyneil _ I think that they ALL groove, just differently. It sounds spineless and musically pluralistic but really, they ALL groove and more importantly they're ALL great artists and explorers of the human endeavor.
Good!!!
wow, first new electronic band ive loved in years. this is ming blowing stuff!!!! Hardware ftw!!!
This is HUGE !!!!
jeeeeeesus fuck I wish Nerve would do stuff like this again
Nice stuff !
only some guys can pull off the sunglasses indoors thing.. this man is one of them
@GARfredable He changes back and forth a lot. Some grooves works better in traditional, some in matched.
Killin! So flavorful.
I think that metal thing you see on the snare drum. They have those on Guitar Center... Website under the drums effects. There's one for the hi hats you put on to make it more like metal sounding. I believe that's what it is.
I hope that helps you guys out.
moog mf101(low pass filter), moog mp201, zvex wooly mammoth(fuzz), boss oc2(octaver), subdecay noise box(harmonic ferequency generator), wmd fatman(envelope filter), line6 m9. one DIY looking thing,
Groove at 2:39 is unreal
jojo mayer doesnt imitate drum machines - drum machines imitate jojo mayer
For those of you who don't know the EPs are buyable on bandcamp it's very cheap and you can get it in flac, ( nerve. bandcamp.c om/track/catachresis (remove the spaces) ]
i'm not related with the band at all, but i support that ! come on that's fucking dope =D
he is one of my favorite players" killer" JoJO RuLeS
@bonzocro sure there is... its called a auto pedal. a robot pedal where u program it to play wut Jojo plays XD
Neeerve!!
@McJohnGr they're all incredible and yet not one of them can groove like ?uestlove. wouldn't you agree?
@Freakguitarman ps: that's written in the description but i know some people don't read descriptions ._.
Does anybody know what that small drum with the black head is next to his secondary snare that has the cymbal on top? Been trying to find out forever, he's not the only drummer I've seen use it
@MoonPhysical haha nice1!! Jojo and Bonham got the best footwork of all drummers.. nobody can keep with them! just my opinion. ;)
fucking sick
0:49 reminds me of bearded Stewart Copeland from the video of "Don't Stand So Close to Me.
@antfreda88 I emailed sonor, they said he has probably made that himself. It's a cymbal ring
@Musicaman11 No it is sabians Hoops crasher.
+cDark3r i gotta get or make one
fuck yeah!
@schlachTzeug its a dustbowl.
it's weird to watch jojo playing match :D
Jojo Mayer, John Davis, and Takuya Nakamura were so perfect. I wish they did stuff like this again The Distance Between Zero and One album (ep1, 2, 3) is by far the best stuff they ever created. EP4 was also incredible especially Them and Fauxtek. after EP4, their works were nowhere near as good IMO and I am sad. But at the same time I am so happy these guys formed my childhood and made my life that much more meaningful, as there is no other band that does stuff even remotely similar (The closest is Excision, Datsik, and the drummer KJ Sawka with their band Destroid but they only made 1 album, the Invasion) and they are more metal oriented instead of jazz. Jazz, classical and electronic music will remain my favorite genres of music, and jazz mixed with all kinds of styles of electronic music is just beyond this Earth. If you want electronic music mixed with jazz from a classically trained pianist, listen to Voljum - Dayscapes EP. I promise it is worth it, even if you are the biggest music expert with the best taste in music.
Whats that ring at 2:04 on the side snare(gold looking ring)
@LHDL13 does he hook it up to be like a trigger or just play it as is?
can anyone tell me what that Snare thing is at 2:00 sounds amazing!
Good music, reminds of prodigy, with a bit of dubstep.
does anyone know what the ring around jojo's snare at about 2.00 is called?? its sounds phat
that is a beard you must keep Sir Jojo Mayer
@bonzocro The bass guitarist, hence the fact I said BASSIST.
Is that a fender bassman head on 0:40?
What's this cymbal-like thing on the snaredrum he is playing with at 1:58 ?
wow, he had the omni's already a year before they came out!
3:02 that's NOT an el sabor
When the new album!? :(
The Distance Between Zero and One
Anyone know what pedals the bassist uses?
what is that gold ring on his snare drum at 2:12?
Dude!!!😂😂thats a stack whose edges have been cut off to give the snare a more electric and EDM like sound....it's ok..
that is to improve the sound of the snare
is that a moog keytar?? 4:13
0:40
@JPastorius3 sry didn`t see that..i was drunk at the time :))
is this the band of blood and gold???
strange to see him play matched grip
is that a moog keytar??
@SMcQuadeDrums Yeaah but then again, if you dislike this, you pretty much dislike music ; )
1:55 name of this song ?

I think it sounds like electronic jellyfish having sex
WoW! no dislikes!! Justin Bieber is slacking!!!!!
