In this video Heimler walks you through another one of your required documents for the AP Government curriculum, namely, Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Letter from a Birmingham Jail.
In this document King responds to a group of white clergymen who have urged patience on the devotees of the Civil Rights Movement. But King points out that anyone who could possibly say "wait" in the face of injustice has never been under the humiliating lash of injustice itself.
GOOD LUCK ON THE 6TH EVERYONE TAKING TEST IN 2024 AND FUTURE
thanks ima need it 😂
Dawg I’m cooked
thanks, it’s in a few hours 😓😓
TYYYY
yessir its time to lock in
it amazing that this letter was written on the margins of a newspaper and scraps of paper passed to him.
Many books were written in prison that way. Another example is Albert Speer's "Inside the Third Reich."
@@kevinlove4356 this is still a masterpiece.
I'm not in AP history (9th English honors) but we're doing a rhetorical analysis on Letter from Birmingham Jail and this really helped me understand more of what MLK was trying to say
I'm really glad to hear that there is some application outside the history class. Hot dang.
@@heimlershistory using this video for my English class, definitely a big help!
Meanwhile, I’m taking this for my college advanced writing class………my professor is probably is too lenient on us lol.
@@ethanli9957 more like this is a great example
What you learn from it
we just went over this in AP lang too lol
Worth going over twice!
Teachers never read this to us. The words were heavy. When you think about it, he's probably one of the fathers of Modern America.
i swear i come back to this video for something every year😭 lifesaver
Bro I never realized how much MLk was spitting. Like he didn’t miss
I got a five in my AP World History exam last year because of this man, and now he’s helping me with college 😂 what a hero
Nah literally
How has mlk help you?
Hey just wanted to say thanks for your APUSH review videos last year! I got a 4 when I probably would’ve gotten like a 2 without your videos.
oh same, I got a 2 on the practice test taken a month before the exam, binged Heimler, then proceeded to get a 5. this dude is a life saver fr
just watched all 9 videos and took hand written notes....
Doing that rn, the first time I've studied all year, pray for me 🙏

Looking at this for the first time right now 😤
why was it kinda easy?? 😭
This document should be required reading in elementary school, as important as the declaration of independence and the bill of rights. It is a blueprint for BLM and any March and protest against injustice.
I’m listening to these videos literally an hour before my ap gov exam😅 these videos have really helped though I feel like I remember a lot more now and understand them more
I've got an essay tomorrow in it😅
How’d it go? Mines next monday
is it bad
Same here hon
Got a 4 on APWH thanks to a last minute binge on your videos. Thanks!
I got a 5 last year with your help, and hopefully I can do it again one last time in AP GOV/ECO
Isn't it crazy that this letter was written 50 years ago! How times changed!
Unfortunately the substance of his critique still rings true today.
I'll be back if I get above a 3
We analyzed this letter in AP English Lang!!!
I have my unit 3 test next week, when is the unit review coming out?
Well, the unit review videos for 3-5 are only in the Ultimate Review Packet. But if that’s not an option for you, all the YT videos will serve you well.
Thank you! Great teacher on all your videos.

Whoa. Slow down there. You are speaking so fast it's hard to comprehend and contain. May I suggest decafe instead. 😉
You can also slow the video down by adjusting the settings
thank you so much, this helped me alot
THANK YOU IT WAS ON MY AP!!
How did the letter motivate the social movement?
Thanks for the great video! Helps me out a lot

I do not see how the 14th amendment applies to a situation where the owner of a private business was engaging in acts of racial discrimination. Neither the federal nor the state government was involved. Indeed, private persons have a right to freedom of association. Which includes the right to not associate with someone by doing business with him.
Discrimination on the basis of race is a public matter no matter whether the business is private; it takes place within the state and the country, and a citizen is being treated as a second-class citizen even if only by a business. It 100% applies.
Also, casual racism is still racism; your comment is not good.
@@MicaiahBaron - Speaking in strictly technical terms, the 14th Amendment does not apply to private businesses discriminating against customers. Congress used other sections of the Constitution (most notably the Interstate Commerce Clause) to give federal oversight to anti-discrimination legislation and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.
@@justinfranco5342 last time i checked our government dont run on strictly technical terms, the government did not enforce the 14th amendment properly and therefore citizens protested rightfully and peacefully for what was right. technicalities dont get shit done
@@MicaiahBaron Discussing a racial issue is not racism. Nice virtue signaling though.
@@glennwatson3313 I'm going to assume you're just ignorant, since that's probably the most generous assumption here. The discussion was about the idea of not doing business with people based on race, which is racism. Not about talking about racism.
