When I bought my bombard 360 and futura mk2, Mike was very helpful in walking me through the whole process. The whole crew at IBC do a great job! Very pleasant place to do business!
Thanks for posting this. It was very helpful. You must be better than myself as I needed two people jumping on the last boards to get them in to place... was scared I was gonna break something!
yes, we like to show real world experiences with out of the box assembly. no camera tricks or time compression just straight and honest like you would receive a new boat in the box.thanks for the comment beri
I have one from the 80's. Have to patch it periodically but I still love it. I usually put some air in it first before installing the floor boards. I also found sliding the oars under the boat lifts the floor boards up a bit. This helps when locking in the side slats
+Harley Wood that's great! most of the stuff I hear or see online about how their boat leaked or fell apart is 99.999% of the time on them and their lack of care of their boat. When things work great the inflatable boat gets no love but when something is wrong that's all you hear or see. It's a boat people, don't neglect it and you will get years of fun just like Harley Wood has.
I wish you would have shown the box or bag that you took it out of so we could see how easy/difficult it is for one person to carry while packed up. Can you put it on a back pack type rig or do you need a hand truck or something?
I have a Zodiac 340 (11 feet 2 inch) bought in the 80's. It was designed for 15 HP and about 4 people. Zodiac obviously never changed the design. I can remember every step to get it in one piece. But...I didn't had electrical blowers. Only a manual air pump.
Why is it so hard to find info about an inflatable eg length, hp rating, material used, type of seams (welded glued etc)? None of the inflatables show it
because some cheaper chinese made boats use same material and thickness pvc, and it'd be bad for zodiac's sales. hypalon loses air faster than pvc and it prone to damage from UV rays. you are better off saving money and getting a seamax, kodiac, or something thats not absurdly priced like the zodiac.
I have had all four types, inflatable tubes only, rigid bottom, wooden or alu floor boards and high pressure inflatable floor. I much prefered the inflatable floor. Many many sail cruising years in Canada, the USA and the Carribean. PVC does not last 1/2 as long as hypalon. I also call all of them de-flatables. In time they leak air. Joints become unglued.
+Andre Laviolette no glue in a French welded pvc boat (unless they are really old), and the boats will last for as long as the care given to them no matter what material they are made of. Leave it out to die and it will just like anything else. I've used both types and have a more than a few miles sailing from the Arctic to the Antarctic and points between myself.
At least zodiac weld together as much as they can - tube seams, transoms, floors. They are worth the little bit of re-gluing every five years or so along the transom/ floor join. Not like most of the other crap on the market.
I am trying to put it together, but even tough I am trying to leave any folds under the floor I seem to have troubles with it. I have a futura mk3. First time out of box, I'll see if the air helps me
Gonzalo Busso try putting the bow bag under the bow when fitting the filoors. there is some bow rise in that design that if done flat will make your life hard. it should all align correctly once you have the rocker right.
A new MK2 Classic is a very tight boat, IBC recommends inflating it without the floor boards first then deflating it when you take delivery. This simple step will assist in fitting the floor boards as well as the stringers.
we actually did it out of the box to show what you're in for without stretching or strain relieving the tubes(burping air into the boat). a new mk2 classic is very tight indeed out of the box and the factory sucks all of the air out for packing. when it's all sucked out it's more difficult to deal for sure. thanks for the comment!
+Ron Fletcher the Zodiac MK2 Classic is pretty upper level as far as recreational models go, we see many professional users utilizing this model probably even more than the recreational side of things. This model represents the quality French build people identify with as the gold standard.
This brings back (late 60s early 70s) memories for me when i bough my only brand new boat a Zodiac MK 1 10 foot 6 inches with wooden floor your boat must be later with its aluminium floor, with its Volvo Archimedes 25HP engine the MK2 was about 14 6 inches If i remember right n the MK2 compact about 12 foot something? but they are an extremely well build n very strong boats going by all the hammering my one had
Gonzalo Busso sometimes you need to put air in and let it out to get it to align, on this model there is bow rise that may give the illusion that it won't align. it usually does though.
Why didn’t u inflate the boat 40per first then add Those floor boards? All other vids I’ve seen they do the air first and looked a lot easier than no air/ flat. Great job thou. I guess both ways work.
haha! yeah it'll seem that way at first. it takes me 7 minutes to put it together once it's been used a couple of times.airfloors are definitely easier, and you can get one for the mk2 classic too.
Yeah, he made it look easy, now try doing this on uneven ground, in the pre-dawn darkness on the shores of a mosquitoe infested lake. I own this model, and TRUST me, it's not as easy to assemble as this guy makes it look!
the "side rails" are called stringers by "professionals", and putting 25% air in and trying to assemble the boat would be considered a rookie mistake.i guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks.
Kevin Boomhower yeah it is tiring, but no surprises in this video, know what it is to do it right out of the box. the first one is definitely the hardest one.
Completely baffled as to why the camera angle keeps changing to a side view which means you can't see *anything* that the demonstrator is doing (nice butt, though!)! It seems like the filmmaker has done it just to show off his film-making skills! A few close-ups of what is engaging with what at appropriate moments would make a huge difference to the effectiveness of the video.
HI THIS THE HEARD WAY TO DO THIS BOAT, OK IF YOU LIKE THE WALK ROUND A ROUND, BUT ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS PUT A LITTLE AIR IN, JUST TOO TAKE UP THE SIDES. THIS MAN WILL BE KNAKARD SOON, PS I DO HAVE A BOAT JUST LIKE THIS ,
I couldn't watch more than 6 minutes of this very painful demo. This guy makes you not want to even go to the showroom let alone buy one. I have owned Avon and Zodiac inflatables. They are not that difficult to assemble.

This is a very useful demo!
Thanks!

I have a 1969 g.r. mk3. valves all still work great. Slight leak in keel.
I try to get it out once or twice a year. Still lots of fun.

Only, instead of an electric pump, I would take a foot pump. By the way, please tell me which pump is included? Bravo 9 or Bravo 8M?

Hello mate . What is the best inflatable sea boat? N how much it cost?
did they also had a GR MK2 Grand Raid for Army use? that f i remember right had some kind of self sealing tubes?
I heard the same thing

What;s the best type of RIB for bathymetry surveys? is it V-hulled?
I have a 1978 MK II, 14 foot. Is it PVC?
How much would it cost without the motor?

What 12V pump do you recommend for this boat? I see so many different kinds and I want to make sure the one I buy is strong enough.
I am trying to put it together, but even tough I am trying to leave any folds under the floor I seem to have troubles with it. I have a futura mk3. First time out of box, I'll see if the air helps me

It would not be bad idea to stock up on some air At the beginning then add your floorboards. then everything becomes much easier and faster.

I'm starting to think a drop stitch floor might be the way to go maybe fitting some thin carpet over to protect against hook mishaps
aarondavid826 we have only seen 2 hook holes in over 40 years of doing this.
aarondavid826 i've never seen a fish hook hole in a zodiac airfloor, i reccomend carpet for dogs so they don't slip around not for their nails.
@@IBCPortland how much mk2??
What country is this boat in?
nice Ib boat...👍
How about the price? 3
why are their only 3 primary tubes. If you puncture side tube ? i am going to buy a quality inflatable. Doing my research !

Can i buy one?
The whole on the first wooden part doesn't align with the valve. Will it align on its own after finishing floor assembly and stretching it?

Rob M maybey it's just not for you, try an airfloor if you aren't fit enough to assemble a boat.

You should inflate it first at least 30% before install the plates.
+ preliminary 7dk = Total 30dk
The boat needs to be inflated up to half for easy installation
+30minutes for filling up air to right pressure with the included foot pump.
only someone stranded on a deserted island would use the foot pump. it's 2018, use an electric pump.
takes me 10mins start to finish with a foot pump this guy had 2 birthdays whilst filming this
Finally - Now I know what killed Jacques Cousteau...............
