Tony Hawk is as cool as we thought he was as children.
I was children in the early 80's. I saw Jello (DKs singer) give Tipper Gore and Oprah a real hard time for being censors on Os show in the 80s.
Tony's one of those people that had a lot of chances over a long-ass time to not be cool and mostly humble. And he didn't. Ever. He's like Dave Grohl and Keanu. Kinda just gets even cooler over time.
That it's his favorite song in the game series doesn't really surprise me. It just fits

Dude.. This is as far from punk as you can get. Promoting a skateboarding video game released by a multi-billion dollar company. Go out and ride a real skateboard. Bring a bluetooth speaker and listen to punk music while tearing up a church parking lot. Every hour wasted on this video game is one hour that could have gone towards learning real skills. Video games in general are the antithesis of punk. Gaming is a conformist, non-productive activity, and one that, along with porn addiction + and pharmaceutical drug prescriptions, are destroying the youth. Video games are why kids aren't learning to play instruments and forming bands, why there are so few venues and no music and or youth culture to speak oqh GMf. Tony Hawk is a sellout

Yeah Andy is like everywhere in his own little corner but in things that made my youthful days special. In THPS series which molded my taste in music and also in the Guitar Hero series, making me pick up the guitar. Andy Gentile is a legend in his own right.
I've seen Tony sing with a handful of punk bands and he surprisingly kills it everytime lol. THPS, Tony, thank you for everything over the years!!

I don’t know much about skateboarding, but Tony Hawk has indirectly introduced me to more great music than anybody.
Police Truck was my favorite. When I first heard it at age 6, it hit me so hard. Ended up seeing DK live years later.

Skated with Hawk when he was like 15 or 16 in Phoenix, AZ at this kid Jeff Papour's house off of 36th st. just north of Shea blvd. this was sometime around 1984 or 1985. We had lot of the Dog Town guys who would come over to AZ for events and punk rock shows and they turned us on to pool skating. Never forget being stuffed into some old VW bug with 5 other skaters driving through alleys looking for empty pools to thrash. Ha! Those were the days.

For how much shit people gave Tony Hawk over his career, he’s a legend. Dude invented most vert tricks, was the first Thrasher SOTY, and massively contributed to the explosion of skateboarding in the late ‘90s to mid 2000s.
He made me buy my first complete board in 85 because of Powell videos and Thrasher mag. Had a vert ramp in 87 because vert was IT at that time. He was already the young king then…Influencing for generations! I still skate today at 48! And still listen to DK
This was my favourite song I found through THPS period.
THPS is the reason why i listen to punk music.

One great thing that happened in 1990 I was skating in Tampa and Tony came tho our Skatepark. This was one of the songs played in the background. I got to talk to him for about 30 minutes

feel like Tony Hawk is on of the few famous pro-skaters that didn't let fame and money change who he is. he's also one of the few famous pro-skaters that still does what he claims to love while staying involved with the culture and community around it like we see here. you can watch old documentaries and interviews of him and compare them to the interviews and stuff from today and the only thing about him that is really different is his age lol
