As a little kid, I played this all the time but it was only shareware. I sat there moving the mouse around to get a view of the entire room, including the ceiling fan.
Found a sealed copy of this game at goodwill today. Came here to see if the game was any good and seeing ifshould sell it or not. Turns out the game is one of the best pool Sims out there, so time to crack that seal! 🙌
Aha yes the ragtime MIDI sound! Aha yes the rack sound! Aha yes the pocket sound! There were also cool little video tutorials with some old guy probably dead now. Still looks good too. I'd buy this in a heartbeat on Steam.
Had the demo of this game, the one with only four balls on the table. Was the first time I heard "The Entertainer." For years after, I'd hear that song and think, "Isn't that the song from that pool game?"
i remembered i had this on a diskette.. written on the disk was "pool 3d", but as i learned just now, it was Virtual Pool, not Pool 3d ^^ This game was so great, and very good midi music too :D
Has anyone managed to get this game to work in 1024x768? I have a decent PC but like playing old DOS Games - The best resolution that shows up for me on this game is 640x480? Thanks.
It might be considered abandonware now, and it is floating around the web, but I'm not advocating downloading a full version. The demo is easy to find though.
This game got me into ragtime and loving Scott Joplin.
One of the best pool games ever and awesome soundtrack.

Very good memories of this from when I was a little guy. Had this on my first computer ever!
This was the very first game I played in my life, it brings a nostalgic tear to my eye
Oh man, I love this game, so much good memories.
The background music is amazing xD
the first DOS pc that came in to my house back in 94 had this game and full throttle , those where the days !
This game introduced me to ragtime music. I was only 9 years old at the time.
One of my favourite games with excellent physics for a DOS game.
I loved this game. It was on EVERY BBS you dialled in to at the time

Try the later ones too. Great series
Agreed. I'm a big Joplin fan, due in no small part to the introduction this game provided when I was younger.
I'm so glad I held on to the original cd-rom of this game. Really got me into pool when I was a kid.

I remember those! Was never able to pull off any of the clever tricks he was demonstrating though.
"with some old guy probably dead now." XD
Lou Butera, who died in 2015. As your comment is five years ago from this perspective, it was fairly recent.
This was an OG game
Keepin it real!@@ProtoKun7

Genesis got Side Pocket, but DOS got Virtual Pool. Both games have awesome ost.
I remember trying to move my mouse so fast for the shot, that the ball on the mouse or the mouse itself didn't register the high speed at all.
I had this game too .. way ahead of its time
Awesome! Feels like 1995!
where can i get the sound tracks? does anyone knows? I realy like this midi Scott Joplin
The computer opponents on the higher difficulty don't mess around!
Machine Gun Lou Butera

The Pre Release is the best version :D

I love this Game!
how to jump shot in this game
Played hours and hours of this, still suck at actual billiards.
What's the name of that first song?
Magnetic Rag by Scott Joplin. In my opinion his best work.
Thank you! I've been searching for this song for like 20 years!
All the melodies are Scott Joplin ones, which makes the game really unique.
@@Risingson2 indeed. in the folder, the music files all have the names of his songs
nice game where can i download the full one?
usually abandonware sites
I have the pre-release version :D
my version is / was much older than this...

scott joplin is good what do you mean
This game was the first time I ever heard "Magnetic Rag", best of Joplin's work.
