How do I make it painting? When I click on the tool. It is not doing a thing. Nothing happened :( I open picture, I want to ise brush, pencil etc. but it´s not working...do I have to create some new layer or how to work with it? :O

All the options for changing the opacity, hardness etc have disappeaerd since if installed the latest version. can you help?

gimp hasn't worked properly for a full year,whenever I use the pencil or paintbrush it won't draw properly,and now for whatever reason it won't even let the colors I use show up,I've never had these problems with gimp before,I even looked online to see how to fix it and it didn't work,if you know how to fix the problems I have I hope you make a video on it or something
