I agree Aluminum Spacers, need to be banned on vehicles and only Steel or cast iron need to be used. The cause wasn't attributed to Aluminum Spacers YET, the cause was said to be the lug nuts broke off. Makes me wonder if the tire shop or owner over torqued them. No one was seriously hurt, thank God, except pocket books and some mental stress. I'm sure this incident is giving them nightmares at night or at least some stress. Best Wishes & Blessings. @@johndowe7003 In the original article/video I saw and read in the news, said it was the Lug Nut Bolts broke off. I own one of these trucks and that does make sense. Also I have personally replaced the Hubs on mine and multiple times on these truck. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how the Hub could fail and come off like that without the Axle coming out and off with it. The Axle is held in place a C-Clip on the tire side of the Hub. So if the Hub Failed or the bolts holding the Hub in place failed and and came out, it would pull the Axle with it and flop around and we would've seen that in the video. So all the Lug Nuts failing makes more a lot more sense than the Hub Failing. However stranger things have happened, if you did read an article on that, I'd love to read it so make sure it doesn't happen to my truck or my friends trucks when I work on them for sure. @@keithnoneya I've had the tie rods snap and have the wheel come off with.the whole a frame assembly. I didn't read the article you mentioned but that is also possible. No way to actually see what happened since there's no up close pictures.of this
The people who just took the ride of a lifetime just found their retirement package! Their attorney should have no problem proving that those wheels did not meet the manufacturer's recommendations...
