I did some science with mechs in 0.6, and unless things have been changed, the distance from where you shoot a mech make difference, and from close range, the fastest I got was 16 .50BMG (standard, AP don't make difference), 128 slug or buckshot, 236 birdshot (with TEC, because it holds 8+1, but other shotguns works the same), and almost 600 basic arrows using a compound bow.
Tried throwing axes but it was taking too long that I had to quit it, but I might come back to that someday.
Now that we have .308 and .338 I will do another science video.
Your data is correct but personally there is no point to killing them yet.

wouldn't killing mechs technically be the best possible loot in scum at the moment, seeing as how players are relying on them for lockpicking defense.
its going after the players that farm bunkers, who take all the bunker loot to the surface.
@@Stue-e The only place I found out is worth killing the mechs to loot is the D0 POI, cause then you can be free to loot all the crates that are in the open area. Maybe in the future the devs make the mechs drop loot, at least I'm hoping for it.
Thanks for this. Very helpful. They must have changed the amount of damage that mechs take because last year before 0.6 I remember using 50 rounds.
I tested it when they came out and it only took 15 rounds. I still shoot them all over to test certain spots now and then.
@@Luthais so 15 rounds anywhere or certain spots. I remember in 0.5 using at least close to 50 rounds on Mechs at the Dam but not concentrating on one spot just shooting anywhere I could hit. It might be less or I just can't aim very good.
~100 shotgun shells, cheaper, noisier but if you want to do something that is pointless and gives you nothing in return, why not do it the cheapest way? 100 shotgun shells is much easier to find than BMG ammo, for the majority of people.
This was the fastest way bud. It’s never worth it to kill a mech but it’s interesting to know how.

also it would be nice if they had a respawn building for the mechs so when they get disabled they come out of a hanger like new rather than just reappear in front of you.

No just bullets. Takes about 4 C4s which takes way longer and needs perfect timing.
3 Easy Steps to kill a Mech
1. Be patient and watch it's pathfinding.
2. 140 (7.62x39mm) rounds with the AK-47 is your golden ticket. It's cheap, It's reliable, It's extremely easy to obtain.
3. Choose proper cover.
It's not rocket science, and you don't need mid or high tier gear.
You can even do this butt naked on a standard server with no issue if you use your brain.
You people need to stop making the Mechs seem like they are more difficult then they truly are.

Craft a paddle board or raft. Get in water and wait for shark to show up. Climb back into board or raft and shoot with any gun. Done ;]

From a game developing sense of view, it's absolutely ridiculous to have them not yield any reward whatsoever ! How can you have an aggresive NPC not reward the player ?
If it was defending a merchant and set to peacefull, of course, you don't want to incentivise people to kill it for loot, as it's purpose is to defend another NPC and players from zombies....but the mechs that roam loot areas, not having any yield ? absolute madness and very poor game design.
But the mech instantly respawned, so at this point just avoid it right? Or do they not respawned like that?
No they do so just avoid yes.
I'd like to see you try that on one of the servers out there, with boosted puppets damage and Mechs, try to get all that gear to kill a mech which respawns in a couple of seconds... at the same time as other players will kill you on sight :)
Thats why ill never do it on a populated server. Major waste and very risky with no reward. Just answered a question that was asked a lot.

It's a great time to get into the game and official South African servers arent very busy so a great place to learn. If you don't want to get raided or don't like PVP then you can start with single player before you go for servers. Very good investment at the moment.

I realize this is an old video... But today in 2023 the mechs come out of the base and hunt you down. I put 15-20 40 MM grenade rounds on a mech and it walked away. The game is most definitely changed in 2023.

I feel the mechs need work especially in some servers always attack mode shooting from miles away and too many just extra extra sweaty for no reason also like someone said before pointless killing them no reward but hopefully in the future their bounty will be worth lol maybe drop machine gun parts 😉 but man it would suck clearing all those mechs making the gun and getting sniped for it lol

Wow . . . did they nerf the Mech's vision? I have not played this game for about 7 or 8 months and last time I played it was like they could spot you almost ANYWHERE. I don't remember bushes being good concealment from them at all.

Can you kill mechs with landmines?
Yes but it takes hundreds
I tested with C4 and it doesn't do any dmg. 10+ C4 and when I finished I still had to use the same amount of .50bmg that I would without using C4, so no dmg at all.

@@R1tesofD34th You can kill a Sentry with any projectile but it takes forever so high damage output is very important and hit nose is the weak point so I killed him once with timed C4s that took more than 15 and thats why a projectile is the secret because his nose is his only weak point

In Real Life a Machine Like this will shoot the complete Bush Into dust, If He are attacked from this Point, If He See you or Not He will shoot extreme. The AI is unrealistic. If you are still , He go away Like nothing has happened. Really? Thats shit. For Me its a Bug/ a failure that must be fixed because its unrealistic .
