I laughed when you said the blades were 'an inch longer, or two finger widths'.. Man you must have FAT fingers! The 600 blades are 600mm long, the 550 blades are 550mm (clue is in the name).. So that's 50mm or 2" difference on each blade, or 100mm /4" in rotor diameter. That adds up to 20% greater rotor disk area on the 600, which is a fair bit. Don't get me wrong, the 550 is a fine helicopter, you don't need to make excuses for buying it,
Pretty nice overview of the 550. I found it helpful as I am contemplating my next purchase. Owning a 700 DFC already, the battery mAh compatibility with the 550 seals the deal, thanks!
The confusing part in this is there are 2 550's Align has produced, -The 550 E 3G (1st gen) is the true 550 with its own 550 tailboom and 550 blades regardless of it's 600 parts assembled / constructed in a simplified form, -The 550 Pro DFC (2nd Gen) which is shown here uses a 600 tailboom where they're about the same length of a 600 (1160 mm) only leaving the 550 blades making it a cheaper alternative to the "beloved" 600 because the 600 Pro (3rd Gen - the 600 that came out together with the 550 E) does not come with a single battery anymore, unlike the "Grand daddy" 600E (1st Gen) and the "Beautiful Yellow Bumble Bee" 600 ESP (2nd Gen) which is everyone's favorite, In the end succeeding models of this 550 which is the Dominator series with the L (3rd Gen) with a more powerful setup for a single battery model and the X (4th Gen) which is longer (1190mm) than the 600 totally replaced the 600 as the Medium size helis.
Thanks for the info it's one sweet looking helicopter no doubt. Same reason I was looking at it as well, I'm not looking to run 12s packs at this time myself either. Have you had any problems with the stock esc having any brown outs/ or dying completely? I have read mixed reviews on their reliability, and are you still running the spectrum dx8 with all your Helicopters.
Hey buddy, though I'd hit you a comment back. After going to a heli fun fly today and also flying Saturday, the tail was rock solid with a 550 boom. Bare in mind I'm running 92MM NHP tail blades which are wider blades, but I tried everything to get it to stall. Even in a good 20-30Mph wind's it was ace:)
My top level is the 450 3d as well and i have also decided on the trex 550e as my next heli. Go to the youtube Search bar and type time-lapse build align 550 and you will see a video that shows the entire build!
nice review but a couple of things the 600 is 4 inchs longer and also has a thicker frame than the 550 the 550 frame is weaker and likes to break during crashes .also you might want to move your satallite receiver you have it right next to the beast x that defeats the purpose of the satallite move it .i still would agree with you i would still take the 550 over the 600 12 cell helis cost to much to run
You can run that heli on 12s as well.Canopy is large enouph to run 2 3300 mah 6s just like the 600.Also You dont need to run a sepperate battery on the 600 a wester robotics bec (battery eliminator circuite)will work just fine and run off your flight packs. Both are cool helis I opted to go with the 500 on the trex as far as electric.
My first thought was: that your are plain wrong because I have both the 550 V2 and the 600 Pro and the size difference is substantial. However after some research, I think you are right. The 550 V3 is longer then the 550 V2, I didn't know that.
your videos is really good... if i take some time, i can translate it to my friends or oter people in my country. can i download and translate it? i'm going to put a link to the original video and to your channel in my desc. Can i?
I wonder why they put a 600 boom on the 550. I have a V1 550 with a V2 gear ratio and DFC head. Hmm Might have to change my gear ratio back to V1. Will test it Saturday and see if my tail lets go.
I'm looking at the new 550 and found this helpful. Thanks.

+jetplaneflyer my 550 has 520 mm and my 600 has 550 mm works great
not only that the 600 blades are wider than the 550s

Hi there! Both are large to me! ;) Both are beautiful as well! Thanks for sharing and happy flying!
I have never carried just one battery to the field man! I do not like to wait to fly again. LOL. Nice 550 man happy flying.
nice man
Nice vid man
Your analysis is mostly correct. I have had both. You just need to fly a 600 and you'll understand why u must have one.

The Trex 550 DFC has been a great helicopter for me, big power and very smooth. I've had no problems. I am using the dx8..
It's a fun helicopter to build, if you have a little bit of mechanical abilities and research abilities then it's a great kit to build...

Yes, the rudder gear box is the same on the 550 600 and 700.. Basically it's over engineered for it's size..

well hun a 550 is 600 with a shorter tail and shorter blades obviously.
The frame and rear tail assembly is the same.
Happy flying and be safe.

i agree with george very nice heli
okay thank u ;)
now i have a another question :D....can i fly the trex 550 with 6 chanels or should i have 7 chanels????
I have only a dx6i....!?
liked
hi
i have a question...is it very diffecult to build the t rex 550????? I have only a blade 450 3d.
fantastic video thanks ;)
your videos is really good... if i take some time, i can translate it to my friends or oter people in my country. can i download and translate it? i'm going to put a link to the original video and to your channel in my desc. Can i?
to use the 550e with 6chanel, i need to use separate receiver?? can you make a video explining that plz?
Yes, it's a little larger, just a newer style.
you use 6ch and 3gx, and it works well??? o.O
by stock this heli comes with t-rex 600 tail doenst it? i dont like short ones...

when u go up u never come down
you need a 6-channel transmitter and a 6-channel receiver to fly an electric heli. 7-channel for Nitro.
Tk's 4 share. i'm decide for 550 too
Great, Thanks..
I use 6ch and BeastX and Robird G31
Stock, 520 Carbon fiber blades.
600 is longer i have both
Let me know...
