Very cool. Loved the Chocolate Starfish album ever since the nu metal wave hit my school around 2000. I used John Otto's signature sticks for many years until I sized up, really good if you like a 5A sort of weight with plenty of heft to it.
2:52 You can remake the AJFA kick snare with it :) Anyway, very good job. I think the only missing element is a generous amount of saturation, but I don't know if it's from the snare and kick preamps or a parallel compression mixing thing.
John hits the left hand China way more than that on Break Stuff. It's one of his signature sounds. He uses the China as a main crash in all Limp tracks.
Awesome work and incredible, how close you are to the original sound. However, I send my annual reminder to consider „Simon Phillips‘ Drum Sound Explained“. 😎
Sounds great. Music mix lower , little more compression then limiter on the kick and you’re there. Significant other really has some comp/ limit on the kick that sits right on top of the mix. Sounds great.
Another amazing video. While I can't get into Limp Bizkit because in my opinion I think they are severely overrated, that being said, the drums in this recreation sound absoulutly incredible. I'm definetly going to attemept to recreate this setup. Mostly for the fact that the snare sounds killer, and that I really want t have my main Sabian crash in the middle. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as to the best way to go about that. Keep up the great work.
Well those are a lot thinner than the originals back in the day. This makes them a lot more versatile and musical. So yeah one could say they got it right :D
Otto didn't use picollo snare instead he used 15×5 bell brass with clear remo head. And you can literally hear that your snare doesn't cut through like it should because it's just too small
@@kovalfetterer2218 Queensryche is a very very special band to me, particularly Mindcrime and LIVEcrime, and it's so rare to meet a fellow QR enthusiast. Cheers! 🍻

We did not censor anything. We‘re german. We dont give a shit about strong language to be honest 😄 the playalong version we used was already censored but it was the best we could find ;)
Abe Cunningham of Deftones next please!

There‘s a chance we already recorded this one…

Absolutely one of the best 2000s drum tones. The snare sound on I'm Broke is mind blowing, just listen to the ring during verse pauses 🤯
Vinnie Paul drum sound in Vulgar Display of Power pleaseee😊😊😊😊
When the Chocolate Starfish album came out, I had never heard music sounds like that before - larger than life! Still blows my mind
Same! First and foremost were the excellent performances by the musicians, but it was also Andy Wallace's legendary mixing on that record.
I love the rhythm section from Limp Bizkit and you nailed that drum sound!
Pascal Thielen, take Us to the Matthews bridge!
great job as always guys, keep up this series🤘🔥
Please do José Pasillas’ kit from Incubus’ Make Yourself and Mourning View albums!

Yess!!!!
Geat drumming, and sound, thanks for another great one AOD and Pascal!
i like how the drummer puts on a jersey when covering Limp Bizkit, and goes topless when he covers Korn
Everybody forgets about John Stanier the original drummer from Helmet, Battles, Tomahawk...
Rollin' just makes me think of the Undertaker. Great job!

Everything is spot on!!

Anyway, very good job.

God that kick drum is so good. Never seen anyone talk about it but it’s so clicky it’s DISGUSTING
Pretty sure that's clipping from mastering

Could be, but doesn't sound like to me.
John Otto is fantastic, saw them on a recent tour and reignited my love for them / him! So good live too
This is great. Looking forward to the Abe Cunningham one!
Thank you!
I’ve been waiting for this since the iconic snare sound video.
Superb! Keep going after the obscure. 10 out of 10! TY

Finally! So underrated
Great as always!
Definitely one of the most accurate ones !!🙏🏼
Terry Bozio next!

Do carter beauford
The older videos of JD Beck next please!
Alan White or Bill Bruford of YES next please!
i noticed the cymbal stands needs to be higher than your head just like the live setup. except the ride cymbal.
Can you do lars ulrich from metallica i wanted to know his tuning for his drums and nick menza from megadeth please
What do you think about the new Z customs? I reckon they finally got it right.
Well those are a lot thinner than the originals back in the day. This makes them a lot more versatile and musical. So yeah one could say they got it right :D
Can you do Ian Haugland from Europe. Back then when he had his big drumset was so sick.
Jose Pasillas of Incubus!!!
Mario Duplantier of Gojira next pls!
Could you do a recreation of Billy Cobham's drum sound please ? It would be great!!
Next: Tommy Lee from Mötley crüe please 🙏🙏🙏.
I second that!!!!
6' x 18" bass drum.
Release more sample packs please!!!
Do runrig or big country form Scotland please
He did it all for the nookie

great video. plz film 30 or 60fps as otherwise its hard to follow hand movements....
The drums are too low in the mix when you're playing along to the songs!!
Nice recreation, but I'm still waiting for the recreation of Jamie Oldakers Drum Sound.
You guys should do II for Sleep Token. Since hes become so prevalent in todays scene
Can you make Gene Hoglan or Mike Portnoy recreation video in the future?
John Stanier of Helmet would be great
II from Sleep Token pleasee
Come on Pascal and Art of Drumming.... Treat us to Dave Abbruzzese on VS and Vitalogy Albums Please!
Vinnie Colaiuta drum sound please!!
Its amazing how the toms can go from sounding crummy, but when mic'd sound amazing. What gives?
Isn't it just OCP Orange county percussion
Otto has no resonant head on his highest rack Tom.
Do the drum sound of Brann Dailor from Mastodon and II from Sleep Token next please
Carter B ?
Всё хорошо, но где же томы? Где нахрен томы?😮 Можно было сыграть Take look around, например..
OCDP’s logo had to have inspiration from the OCP logo from the RoboCop franchise…
Day 1 of asking for ii’s sound from Sleep Token
Yeah what the hell dudes put the damn drum track louder.. how can you not notice that
Have we done Dave grohl yet? Nirvana Dave Grohl
Yes we have :D
Drum video should emphasize drums in the mix. All you hear is snare.
still waiting for Scott Rockenfield's drum sound on Operation: Mindcrime!
You are clearly an individual of great taste! 🤘

Sorry,
but no double kick drum for rollin. All with one feet ...
John Otto basically plays the same pattern on every song with different fills
Great snare choice from a Hungarian Nightmare!
On the SO album John used a 50ply vented maple (I think it was) snare
Song is too loud 🫠
У этого парня не та подача и звукоизвлечение как у ОТТО
Neat setup, but the rollin recreation is a bit too high pitch
Ok, now a real drummer please
