むかし私はこの曲を実際に聴く前に、ドラクエ３は海を移動できる他に、空も移動できると言う知識を得ていたので、その時に鳴るBGMはさぞかし清々しいものなのだろうな、と勝手に想像していた。
しかし実際にゲームを進めて空を飛ぶシーンで流れてきたこの曲の切ないメロディに戸惑った。
あまりに想像していた曲調と違うからだった。
しかし後日、あるゲーム雑誌の対談記事の中で作曲者のすぎやまこういち氏が
「この曲（おおぞらをとぶ）は、人間の”空を飛びたい”と言う気持ちを表現したものだ」と答えていたのを読んで納得した。
