10 to 15 years depending on how it was treated.

That's what I think too. Maybe a few years more with proper battery care. Aakee posts on TeslaMotorsClub have been very helpful.

I think by 2030, many advanced batteries will last 20 years and more without adhering to battery charging csre.
Can't wait. I mean, csn wait five or six years but can't wait to own longer-lived BEVs.

the problem will not be the vehicles it will be the charging stations , their maintenance , and the generating capacity , followed by charging station availability outside cities .Also much of the worlds electricity is generated from polluting sources , and the use of electrical vehicles qill change little

10 to 15 years are manufacturers marketing data. Assume that battery will only lastnear its free replacement warranty.

Assume incorrectly, assume 80% or below useable capacity

I personally only buy cars that are 15 years old and often hold on to them for 10 years...
WHY are you saying that cars only last 12 years?
My last car was a 1990 and had it for many years...

    • @carsimply
      @carsimply  22 วันที่ผ่านมา

Yes I was making the point that:
Since the average car on American roads is 12.5 years old, Electric Car batteries last a relatively long time (which is 10 to 15 years before battery degradation potentially becomes an issue)
And also, this video is talking about Electric Vehicles not Gasoline Cars...
Anyways Thanks for leaving a comment!

My Accord is almost 14 years old , CT200h from friend, almost 13.
Newer engines and CVTs not as reliable.

Many older cars should have a 100% charge once per month; to help keep the cells in balance - I always do this at granny charger speeds (2.5-3KW), rather than the full 7KW home charger.
Slower charging does mean more wasted power, but it also reduces the heat stress put on the battery.
My EV is 7.5 years old, but the battery is still like new, with a battery state of health of 96.8%, and has only lost 0.9KWH of capacity.

my 4 year old leaf has never been fast charged. only granny charged to 100% every time.
the battery has lost no range at all.

@@isaachunt5799 4 years isnt long; do you use LeafSpy to keep an eye on cell degradation??
Actual range comes down to driving style and road conditions; which is why there is a huge disparity between the WTLP and real life ranges; I also get or sometimes exceed, the original range claims in my 7.5 y/o car, and the apps I use show the battery has only lost 0.9KWh over that time (96.8% SOH)
