Nice introductions. I read the Descent over ten years ago and still remember how wondrous that under-world was, but also the oppressive feeling of those deep cave tunnels and how creepy the Hadals were. Good book.

I picked up The Descent, as I didn't do any research and thought the movie might of been based on it, like 250 pages in I accepted that wasn't true 😂. But by then I was so enamored, I ended up hunting down every other cave book I could find.

What a cool video topic! I haven’t read any of the three but looking forward to picking up all three!

Love this video! My greatest fear is getting trapped in an enclosed space with no way out, water rising etc. The Descent is one of my favorite horror movies. The Jeff Long story sounds very interesting! The Luminous Dead sounds like a great sci-fi horror and I love the way you described the atmosphere and tension. All three novels sound great. I would recommend Midnight's Lair, one of the few Richard Laymon books I have enjoyed.

I can recommend "The Underdwelling" by Tim Curran.

I loved The Underdwelling, I have liked most of the Tim Curran stuff I've read.

I really enjoyed this! Would love to see more of those theme videos! How about themes like: secret research station, ancient civilization found, exploring depths of the ocean (please dont use nick cutters the deep :D), conspiracy theory being true, antarcitca mystery

I really like The Descent. An overlooked novel. I have not read the others, but The Anomaly is on my Kindle. Rutger is better known Michael Marshall Smith.

Oh I do know that name! I almost never end up looking up Authors real names if they write under a pseudonym, not sure why, I figure if they want this work to be seperated from the rest, then maybe I shouldn't be looking to draw comparisons.
Have you read the sequel to The Decent, Deeper? I had to get an ebook copy of that one as I couldn't find a print version anywhere

@@BenjaminsBookclub Check out The Straw Men by Michael Marshall. He write under a number of different names.
I haven’t read Deeper. It’s always sold at a premium price. I probably should reread The Descent anyway.
