I'm always scared of filling the first page in a new sketchbook! seeing you create amazing pieces on the first page every time encourages me a little more to just go for it 🥰
this is acutally my favourite sketchbook brand! they come in all sorts of sizes, have a hard cover and hold many of the media types I work with very well. I recently finished my second sketchbook ever after having many half filled ones, and both of the ones I was able to fully fill were this exact sketchbook. plus they're also pretty cheap which is super nice
I’m really glad you didn’t say oh whale about this sketchbook. I love how all these turned out! The royal talens sketchbook has the look/feel of a fancy book without it feeling precious which is why I love them.
Whale sharks! 🌊✨ I love it when you add the white spots on top of the whales for texture. The result is so pretty, and I’m impressed that this sketchbook can handle some watercolor without buckling too much. I took a video production class in middle school, and it’s interesting how cream-colored or off-white sketchbook pages can make the footage look warmer. It’s so interesting how art materials can affect the quality of video footage, and I hope you have fun making reels in 4k!
Thank you for this video. Ive been curious about these sketchbooks for art journaling. And seeing you're able to push the paper to its max with all the extra water was really encouraging. It handled so well. Im impressed.
I've recently picked up one of these in the square format for gouache sketches, and the paper really is smooth! Great for gouache but I like more tooth when it comes to sketching. Those whale sharks are adorable! I love how the spread turned out, and the cleaner look of the page was lovely - loved the colours!

So I haven't drawn or watched any of your videos in quite a while because I didn't have time and wasn't really feeling it, tho it wasn't an artblock, but you know what it's like every artist gets these. But this whole afternoon I've been sketching a bunch of cute otters while binge watching all of your videos I've missed and it is SUCH A COINCIDENCE that you post now haha... Just thank you for everything you do, it's super motivating and I love your art so much I don't have words to express it. Love you!

I have a few of them sketchbooks. I really like them, gouache works good on the, and light watercolouring. I have one in same size and colour that I keep in my bag 😁

I am most definitely NOT going to spend $30 for a sketchbook when for under $15 I can get the same size sketchbook (with MORE pages) in different exterior colours & I happen to like the off white paper colour... Win, win in my opinion!
I can’t wait to see what you create in this sketchbook. I have like 7 new ones off this kind, all unused (different sizes/colors). In the store I really like them and buys them, but at home the creme paper is not my thing. 😂
I'm definitely still getting used to the cream paper. I wish they just had a white version in all these pretty colours! Their only white version has a cork cover or something like that, I believe
@@JelArts the art cover ones have white paper too! Art Deco, The Milkmaid, Still Life with Flowers. But yes, the solid colours with white paper would be perfect. 🥰 Oh, and the Bruynzeel books (with solid colour covers) seem to be white as well.
Jel thanks to you I finally had the motivation from your videos to animate a dog wagging his tail and I had zero frustrations because of what you said once about drawing should be something that is enjoyable and not feel like a task, this animation was so fun to animate, it didn’t feel like a task at all so I thank you! Also your art style is immaculate, I love the watercolor videos!

I'd love to see an updated fav art supplies video for 2023 if you're up for it ! i watched a few of your videos tonight while sketching a picture of John koviak (model/musician) not sure why , i just always thought he'd be fun to draw even though it's not what id typically go for , but I've just started a new sketchbook too and want to fill it with Everything !
How do you scan your sketches onto the computer? I don't know if it's because my sketchbook can't really lay down flat, but I don't have much luck with using a printer to scan my work. Your sketchbook is already off to a wonderful start, and I can't wait to see more!
I watch your videos to get inspired in pursuing a doubt-free loose art style but I have to ask, how do you confidently sketch out your animals without worrying that you could get the anatomy/proportions wrong? Is this a skill that gets earned from completing multiple sketchbooks?
YEAHHHH whale sharks!! the lines on the page could be because of the sizing? Sometimes when watercolour paper hasn't been sized properly it gets lines like that, so it could be that.. I hope it's not on every page for you either aha!

I literally jusy bought this exact brand and color sketchbook to use as my art diary. Bery little buckling ,no bleed so far and holds gouache well
