saw them at the reading festival and i can say for sure heathers voice was louder than the backing track. im pretty sure when they post these things on youtube etc they lower singers voices and the instruments they recorded so you can hear everything clearer as the music is too loud to hear anything clearly.

@Faektr ...I can honestly say, without much fear of contradiction, that if push came to shove you most certainly would NOT die for each member of this band , and what's more they would not feel inclined to expect you to do such a silly thing. PS I was about ten rows back from the stage here, dressed in my favourite pinstriped strides and matching blazer , and brown too hat with optional ostrich feather, and the sound was very good. A few bum notes, but this is to be expected. 🎩
She removes her guitar and the song continues and we don't notice the absence of her guitar, she ditches her mic and heads down to the crowd and the vocals continue as well. Heather's role in this band seems quite minimal. The backing tape seems to provide the vocals and the other guitar player seems to be doing all the guitar work.

Whole band came to play ball for this show. A timeless and beautiful performance, hope Pale Waves has a few more albums in the same sound.
