It struck me while you were placing the birds, that the architectural stamps in the background resemble old Victorian birdcages. It’s lovely that the birds are in the foreground, uncaged. Another beautiful project. Thanks for sharing.
What a brilliant and beautiful thought... I knew I was drawn to having the birds there, I just didn't know why until you pointed that out! Thank you so much for your lovely comment, and the moment of illumination.
Wonderful tags with these special church-ruin stamps that always make me think of those we saw in real in the UK and Brittanny. That magical atmosphere where nature gets a new chance and all kinds of birds find their place. That makes that combination with the silhouette birds and stems on your tags even better.
You are such a good shorty teller as you create. It’s really fun to listen to and to watch. Thanks for the pleasant time near the neglected church thingie you created!
Thank you so much for that wonderful feedback (and yes, I guessed storyteller, but thanks for the confirmation!)... I'm delighted you are enjoying both the words and the pictures - and the neglected church thingies!
Oh, I'm so pleased you loved this episode, Tracy. It was definitely a happy session for me - I loved the process and the results! Thanks so much for your continued company and comments.
I really enjoyed following the process in assembling the different parts of these tags. I particularly like the stamp (oh dear, another one I may need to purchase) and it is always helpful to see what you can do with them. You captured that sense of time passing and decay, but also the beauty of nature.
It's a beautiful stamp - I've used it to create scenes similar to this many times over the years since I bought it. It's great for autumnal, eerie storytelling tags, as well as springtime. Combine it with some natural elements and nature-based background detailing, and I'm a happy woman. Thank you, as always, for your lovely company and comments.
Inspiring as always, every beautiful detail fits perfectly with the other. I love your creations every time. Thank you very much for sharing them with us 👏💖👏
Did not know that I can emboss with any of the distress inks. Good to know and I look forward to utilizing. These are so lovely and delicate, what stories you tell! Thanks kindly for sharing Alison❤️🇨🇦
It opens up so many options... especially with clear embossing powder - you can emboss in any Distress colour you want!! Very happy to hear you appreciate the stories in the work. Thank you so much.
Yes, those Silhouette Birds always make my heart dance... and the moment when I found they would happily perch in the foreground was a real delight. Thank you for your company and comments.
Thank you so much for that great feedback. Glad you're with me on the finer inks for embossing. (Quite apart from anything else, I don't much like the smell of most embossing inks... too sickly sweet!). Happy weekend when it gets here!
Wow, thank you so much for explaining the embossing ink / archival ink it will hopefully help me in future as I hate my results with embossing powders. I’m going to play. Oh and I love the clock faces. ❤
Stunning tags Alison, love everything about them. I prefer to use an ink that I can see if I want the whole stamp to be embossed cleanly. The birds freely sitting in front of the buildings, just love them. Great use of part of the quote. Thanks, have a good rest of your week.
Thank you, Debbie - yes, that moment of discovering the birds would happily perch in the foreground was a real delight. And I know it's much easier to use a clearly visible ink... to be honest, it was just the closest to hand when I was filming!! Hope your week is treating you with kindness.
That did it! I have been going back and forth between the nature quote set and this one (since I also want several of your botanicals and can't just buy 'everything'.) For now, it'll have to be Music & Silence :-) Thank you, and have a quiet and peaceful evening...
Music & Silence really has got some beautiful, powerful words on it... it would definitely be in my all-time top 3 of the quote collections. I think it's a good choice! I'm so honoured that you are investing in some of my stamps - I hope you'll find great joy creating with them. Thank you, as ever, for your company and comments.
Hi Alison. I wish I could be as clever as you, you're amazing. I save as much scrap stuff as I can, and utilise it as much as possible. I LOVE Tim Holtz stuff, but can only afford one item, once every 3 months. If I was a witch, I'd tweak my nose, and wish every Tim Holtz item I love, be in front of me LOL!! But as that's impossible, I watch and dream. Thank you for inspiring me. I LOVE what you do, and dream on. Take care, xx❤❤🎉🎉😊😊
I know I'm very lucky to have all the toys and supplies that I have... being on a number of design teams over the years has meant I've often been able to buy things at discount rates, if not get them completely free. But it's certainly true that art supplies have been responsible for the major proportion of my expenditure since I started this journey. Luckily, I'm utterly uninterested in make-up, perfume, shoes, clothes, handbags, jewellery and so on and so forth... and not having children or a husband who want feeding and clothing etc etc definitely helps too!! I'm very happy that you can enjoy the playtime vicariously at least, here at Words and Pictures - and I hope it helps you enjoy the supplies you do have in new ways too. Thank you so much for your company and your always thoughtful and lovely comments.
@w0rdsandp1ctures thank you so much for all that you do. You're incredibly talented. I always look to you for inspiration. I'm the same, I don't have children or a husband, and I live very frugally. My flat here in England, has every cupboard bulging with scraps of fabric and paper that I've collected throughout my 65 years. It has been my passion too. It's so much fun isn't it. I wish I was half as clever as you. Your videos make me SO happy. You're my favourite go-to crafter/artist. Thank you again. Take care. Happy crafting, xxxx
Yes, you can use anything that's got some moisture to it. Tim Holtz shared that you can even add embossing powder to water (as long as you heat it before the water dries).
These tags are so beautiful! The juxtaposition of the architecture with the natural elements really makes these tags so visually interesting to me. My eye wants to linger and have a look around. Question - if you don't have brown embossing powder, can you stamp in a dark brown ink and emboss with clear powder? Thanks for another wonderful lesson.
Oh jeepers... what did I say was formulaic? I'll have to skim through at some point to find out, unless you can remember? And/or let me know at what minute I said it. I can't explain without knowing what I was talking about!! Happy you like them in the meantime, thank you.
I'm very happy to hear you enjoyed it! And yes, sorry not to mention the glue in the product list... I've used it in so many videos that I forget there will be people arriving who've not heard about it before! It's the Liquitex Super Heavy Gel, and it comes in both Matte and Gloss formulations. Overall, I prefer matte finishes, so that's my favourite of the two, but I need to use up the gloss too... Thank you so much for watching and commenting.
Happy you like them, thank you. No, I'm not set up for selling at the moment. I've thought about it a number of times over the years, but the admin and logistics are all quite complicated and time-consuming... time which, so far, I prefer to use on making and sharing.
Beautiful Alice! Love this❤ (Question: the pattern on the tags you painted is gorgeous, can't remember if the "star pattern" is from Tim Holtz stencil or a cling stamp. Is it the one that are sold with the trees? I'm getting old & my memory is getting worse. lol) Maybe you have a video when you're making them, which I have forgot as well. Love your art😍
Thank you - so happy you like them. It's a Tim Holtz stencil, but the name escapes me at the moment. As I mention in the video, the episode where I make these backgrounds is linked in the video description here, and all the product details for the backgrounds are in that video description. Hope you're having a good week. Alison 😀
Oh, that is really lovely to hear... I'm delighted you found your way here, and that you enjoyed what you saw! I hope you'll enjoy exploring further on the channel. Thank you so much for watching, commenting and subscribing.

One of my favourite set of tags you’ve created. So inspiring and beautifully created. Thank you 😊
I truly enjoyed watching today! The tags are most certainly beautiful! I love the seed pods, architecture, and silhouette birds!❤

All your tags are beautiful but I think these are one of my favourites….. I love how you bring so many elements in together and the storytelling .. 🩵🩵
These bring me great joy too, and I really wasn't expecting so much joy when I started out! Thank you for your beautiful and thoughtful comment.

Yea the birds got a beautiful home! I too stamp more with VFC inks for embossing words! Those clocks are a fabulous addition to the tags💙🤎💙

Absolutely love these, Alison thanks for sharing your unique designs 😊
So happy you love them, Shirley... they certainly made me very happy - both in the process and in the results.

Gorgeous tags. Your work is so inspiring
That's lovely to hear, thank you very much. I hope you'll have some Tag Time of your own very soon.

Creative hoarders unite!! Happy crafting to you too.
I like that you removed the straight edge of the architecture.
I'm glad I realised before I stamped it that a bold straight edge would drive me crazy! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Saw a Luise Heinztl video about using distress micro glaze instead off embossing ink. Was so cool.
Did you use archival ink? How does it stick?
Yes, you can use anything that's got some moisture to it. Tim Holtz shared that you can even add embossing powder to water (as long as you heat it before the water dries).
@ thank you! Love a sharing community/channel.
