Thanks a lot for this! One thing I learnt is that we should all acquire skills and then confidence will increase but not perfect. We would have little doubts or fears but then because of our skills, we face it. Face it till you ace it!
Nothing upsets me more is when people lie on their resumes. I am very honest on my résumé and I don’t even change it for recruiters to ask me to when they submit me. I understand highlighting certain things but I’m not going to embellish my experience just to get a shot.
Early in my career I worked at a pre-employment background checking company. The number of offers I saw get pulled because we busted people lying about experience and degrees 😬
I also hate when people lie in their CVs and I am honest in mine, however, I can't help but feeling frustrated at the moment when I know that quite a few of my (former now) colleagues lied in their CVs and it got them great jobs over the past few months while all I've been getting are application rejection emails...
@@Martuska80 But "fake it till you make it" actually landed me my first ever high-paying job (Part-time) at 18. For example, I went from £10/h to £15/h for 10h shift, working 4 times a week, and I'm a student.
You know, "Fake it 'til you make it" is a saying that I've had in my vocabulary for a long time, but you're right. I haven't fully thought through what I've been preaching. Face it to make it is a much better fit, and just as catchy. Thanks!
Thank you for great videos and generous advice. I would like to mention something here from experience and I would like everybody to know that a toxic workplace can actually affect your future career. My former supervisor actively stopped people from giving me interviews for a promotion after I worked my head off because in her department she could pay me less and have me work hard and make money for them while I was struggling to make ends meet. A mistake I made was that whenever she asked me, “what’s your plan for the future?” I told her my plans for this and that promotion and final career goals. I know it sounds really stupid but I always thought I could be honest with people I worked with. Anyway, don’t reveal your plans and don’t let your bosses know where you get interviews for promotions. I don’t know how get out of replying to those questions. They seem to be common questions because even in interviews I see potential employers press me to tell them what I would like to do next or what my future plans are and when I try to be vague, they just won’t let go.
Hello Jennifer Brick. I am writing this comment to let you know that I've been watching your channel for the past 2 months. As a young adult who's in the workforce for 6 years I believe I still have a lot to learn on how to navigate the workplace. I'd like to thank you for your effort for making these videos. I really appreciate it. It's very helpful for young adult like me. I hope you keep doing great job!
On every job that I have had for the past 8 years at least, I have encountered several people like this. They pretend to know stuff that they don't, are about to be called out on it, then make a swift exit when the truth is discovered. Its happening right now on my current job.
I just saw your superthanks on this video and on Coworkers will never be your friends. Thank you so much! Community support helps me keep this channel operating, and your support is immensely appreciated!
originally, the say of "faking till you make it" is used when a person who trapped in the situation of last minute decision or have no other option. its a self motivation quote, thus, most of them get them wrong and use it as self- day dreaming which led them to failure.
The Time ⏲️ will come where you have to deliver on what you have sold & you better be able to live up to expectations .. you may not get a second chance. Have a Great Day Jennifer 🌞 !
At my old job, Someone put a block on my desk, it was one of those wood blocks that have sayings and quotes painted on them. Guess what it said? Yup. It said, “Fake it Till You Make It.” When I resigned I had told someone, “one can only fake it till they make it till they can’t fake it no more!!!” And bad grammar was intentional. It has turned into one of my least favorite sayings!!! :)

💯FACTS.... Anyone that truly knows their job inside out, shouldn't have these problems ever. it's bad. you're representing the company that hired you based upon experience on your resume. Id rather be honest and tell my employer what areas I'm trained in and some that I'm willing to work on while growing with this company. Truth is more honest than lies.
In the UK, Canal Street in Manchester is the heart of the gay village. I've known people who have successfully made it by faking it. It's ill advised, but some people get lucky.
It's all I've seen through TH-cam tiktok EVEN GOOGLE! It's pissing me off I don't want to be fake I want to be real it's like being a fake friend god. It's dilution!

"Confidence is contagious" best line of the video.... That saying needs to be a framed and placed on the home office wall. Thanks Jennifer 😀
It's an ethos to live by!
Job recruiters 'lie' on job perks and description to sell you that position, why can't i 'lie' about my capabilities to sell myself to them?
Just open up and be honest about yourself. Simple 💯💯
Fake it til you make probably only affects people that have integrity. As for the people that don't have integrity, I'm sure it's not an issue at all.

3:49 what is a stretch assignment and what more can that teach me about my potential leadership trials …
Face it ‘til you ace it.
That’s my ex manager 😅she always faking until workers knew it and then burch of them left the job !
