Tim's Enthusiast Garage absolutely. This is one of a myriad of cars that you don't ever see in the U.S. so you're right, they don't get the acclaim they deserve. Good to see someone, especially a young person, appreciate and care for these cars.

My E36 was bought by my father as a project for us. It was not driveable, but we spent many nights and weekends lying on the cold driveway putting in a new clutch and transmission, among other small things. He drove it to work sometimes for about 9 months before he bought an E39. I was then handed the keys to the E36 and have been driving it for coming up on a full year. It's a 318iC, so not fast by any means, but I love it because I know I helped get it back into shape. Starts up 100% of the time and has never given me a major issue. It's one of the best daily drivers a college student could ask for, in my opinion.

Petrolicious is great at these types of stories. So many of us (hopefully) have similar stories with our fathers and try to create these connections with our children. Often the car itself doesn't matter, whether it's a Pacer or a Porsche, the time in the garage with family that's important. I never get tired if saying great job again petrolicious!

I'm British and it's great to see Petrolicious showing that it's not just English speaking countries who are mad about cars unlike a lot of other car channels content.

Ähm... check out German car channels and you will know what car madness means. Never realized that English speaking countries are known for their love of cars. You are only allowed to go 90 km/h - why bother?

According to Wikipedia, the Venturi 260 APC was a French make built from 1991 to 2000, this is re-badged as the Venturi Atlantique, it was powered by a 2.8 liter Turbo V-6, with a 5-speed gearbox, it weighed 1,110 kgs and had a top speed of 167 mph. Only 700cars were built by Venturi before the company went under.

Charles, Thanks for the details. With such a low production, they must have used another company's engine, gearbox, suspension etc. Do you know what they used, or where further build details can be found?

Engine on this one is Turbocharged PRV so "Peugeot Renault Volvo", a 90° V6 derived from a V8 project that never came in and equipped high end version of Renault 25, Peugeot 604, Alpine, some Volvo and so on.
I think Gearbox comes from Renault afaik, classic manual 5 speed, I have also read Citroen CX.
Chassis was developped at the beginning by no less than Rondeau, who is a LeMans winner, on his own prototype in 1980.
Before the V6 came in, the first one had a 4 cylinder of the Peugeot 505 turbo, less powerful but lighter.
read more here on Jean Rondeau
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Rondeau
It has a lot of outside component froem the french production, but the finish was high end (wood, leather and so on).
The late version of the 300 Atlantique had another engine the ES9 of PSA (Peugeot-Citroen) with twin turbo.

Geordan, your dad is a great man and a great Father.... don't feel embarrassed, just be grateful that both of you have the opportunity to share something you love....together.... the Venturi name is deep in your family heritage and rightly so. The car looks like new and probably better than factory as your father had more time to finish it... make sure you learn his skills... new cars are so lifeless....

Great video as always, very moving. No-one should EVER be embarrassed they can afford something, especially something they've purchased with money earned from hard work. If you have a good relationship with your Father, be wise and spend time with him. I consider myself fairly well versed when it comes to obscure makes, but this one has completely passed me by even though I still felt like I had heard it somewhere some time. That's when I saw a comment about Gran Turismo 2, and it suddenly struck me. I have heard about the make, almost 20 years ago and since then it's been removed from my memory. Thanks for bringing that back.

This is a really pretty car! But I would have liked to see a bit more of it, like the engine and such.

He worked in a supermarket for two years and was able to afford 2 driving tests and 2 vehicles?

Assuming he still lived at his parents and had no expenses, two years at minimum wage would mean 25k€ saved up or thereabouts.

Kookanoodles Holy shit. I’ve been working at KFC for 4 months now and I get ~$500 monthly. That’s about enough to buy one car in two years (84 000kn)

Mind you, I totally forgot the he said he started working at 16. I have no idea how teenagers are paid, it might be less.

Kookanoodles Part time jobs usually get paid hourly and full timers have fixed pays. EU law

I've started to work at 16 with placement and sometimes salary.
I was living with my parents, working as a store keeper (same level as supermarket) and I could buy my Austin mini at 18, my e36 this year at 21 and I have my 125cc motorcycle since 16/17 with big motorcycle licence.
If I was not with my parents it could be impossible to afford a second car this year

Don't tell me to enjoy turn on the captions, how do you know I don't speak french? IT should say: 'Turn them on if you haven't bothered to learn this beautiful language'
    -End of exaggeration.
