I was just trying to see what other fans thought of this fragrance release, compared to her last one, and open up a discussion.
Obviously price does come into the discussion and I would like to know what others have to say.

I’d like to add that it is a Parfum instead of a perfume, which is very expensive to get ahold of and manufacture, and the reason the bottles are so tiny are bc it’s like SUPER strong bc it’s real perfume, so you only need a tiny bottle if you can afford real Parfum anyway. But this also goes back to your point where why couldn’t she make something more simpler like the crybaby perfume, it was a very drastic jump and since a new perfume has been highly anticipated I think most have the right to complain since majority of us get paid minimum wage, I cannot afford it myself but I hope I can maybe get an individual one when she releases it
When they release it will come in different sizes and the will be more affordable around 50-60 dollars.

@@Randomrando_ sorry I never got back to you not on here a lot but that's okay the difference is mainly perfume has like wayy more percentage of water in it and parfum is more percentage of real perfume so its very strong, and that's why I said it's harder and more expensive to manufacture, it makes sense for all the different scents tho now that they're out and I believe it'll he worth it when they come in their own bottles for less

I bought it with no hesitation. I don’t regret it even if she releases them again with their own bottles and bigger, I collect perfumes/parfum like crazy. Every perfume Ariana grande has released I have, some I have in every size. When Melanie released the first perfume I wasn’t able to get it because my mom always said no, now that she’s releasing perfume again I’m not hesitating to get them.

They clearly meant when they were younger, their mom wouldn't get the Cry Baby perfume for her (probably because it was out of budget) so now that she's older and got her own money, she collects perfumes particularly so she won't miss them if they become discontinued. I already bought it. But honestly, I just kinda regret it now. I love Melanie but this is not right. I mean, if the sculpture were signed or something that'd would probably be a plus to buy it but the small amount of perfume we'll be getting is just not okay 🙁

As a European fan, it would set me back 400-450 euros… with shipping and customs it’s impossible. I do love the sculpture so I considered getting it but I forgot about the additional costs. 275 was already too much, let alone 450

Ok, I have preordered it and let me say, she replied to a comment saying she will sell them separately and have offorable prices later on, I have read some articles saying the separate perfumes will come out in 2024, so I think that the separate ones will not have the head and the big statue and that’s why they will be less, but just like her crybaby perfume this one will sell and go out of stock forever. So she’s selling the one time sculpture with the parfume ONCE. I think

I will be restocked, but I think you're right about the options only being the statue and / or the fragrance in different size bottles, but who knows what they'll look like. Could be that they'll be the same bottles only bigger.🤷♀️

I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be that person:
- a 1.35 oz of grid Dior (just the bottle, not a sculpture or anything) costs $150 and I don’t see a ton of people getting mad at that.
- a huge sculpture with it is merchandise that won’t run out, you can it keep forever
-she needs to make money somehow, and yes she gets a lot of money from her concerts and albums, but she doesn’t see every cent of it, a lot of it goes into production value, and whatever she does get to keep, she tries to put it into projects for us.
- not to mention, K-12 movie costed 5-6 million dollars to make, only made $300-400 K at the box office, and then she made it free online on TH-cam for anyone to watch whenever they want.
I know not a lot of people cant afford that much for perfume, but they can afford to go to concerts of hers once, and one spray of good perfume lasts way longer an a concert.
The price range seems right to me. I know I can’t afford it, but just because I don’t like the price doesn’t mean the price is unreasonable.
Comparing her Parfums to a bottle of luxury brand perfum is not a good comparison. She’s Melanie Martinez, a medium-known artist, not Christian Dior, a world renowned designer luxury brand. It’s better to compare it to Parfums that other artists have done. Plus selling a BUNCH of $40-$60 Parfums is a lot better than only selling a few $300 Parfums. You have to consider finances AND customer satisfaction. If you open access to your product, you’ll make more money. Her label should’ve sold individuals AND the collection at the same time. Providing options up front would’ve made people way happier and would have made the launch more successful. Especially knowing her audience. That’s business 101. And some of us can’t afford to go to her concerts because they’re expensive or nowhere near us which is why we look forward to the merchandise being affordable. Besides it’s come out now (I know you commented a month ago so I don’t blame you for thinking this at first glance) that the sculpture is pure plastic/PVC and has paint issues as well as visible seamlines and the Parfum bottles are also plastic. $300-$600 for a bunch of poorly manufactured plastic is not reasonable IMO. You CAN make plastic worth $300-$600, just look at the delicate creation and painting of anime figures. But, the execution of this was a failure, and it’s going to make her profits suffer unfortunately. She’s smart by coming out with the individuals, I’m just worried that now her team has pissed off enough people for those to not get sold either.
275 for the SET, the set which includes the statue and 4 fragrances!! not perfumes, PARFUM!! a lot stronger and thicker, “parfum” refers to the concentration of a fragrance. meaning it will last a lot longer! it's for collectors. she WILL be releasing them individually after a while!
parfum and perfume is the same think... Unless you are thinking of eau de parfum which is actually cheaper
no. parfum though it is literally just the word perfume in another language and means the same thing in one sense, but it has two meanings. parfum's SECOND meaning means the essence of a scent, which is thicker and stronger, therefore lasting longer because you use a lot less. and no, i am not talking about "eau de parfum", "Parfum: 20-40% of perfume oils, Eau de Parfum: 15-20% of perfume oils", i am just talking about parfum @@tados112 👍

This release is for people who want to have a Collector’s item, it is a giant 1ft statue. She said she’s releasing them individually in the future. She’s not asking 275 dollars for the Parfume, it’s for the collectors item, the statue. It’s still a bit expensive but she puts a lot of work into all her music videos, movies, and creative ideas just for us fans to see for free. Most celebrities only do one music video for each album while Melanie pushed and pushed to be able to give us one for each song.

YES exactly!! the main marketing point is the perfume so idrk why there would be so little of it. selling the sculpture separately as a collector work of art seems the best to me and people feel like they actually get their money's worth.
I think it’s very cool looking and from a fan perspective having the 12 inch sculpture would be a cool collectible but it’s supposed to be about the perfume. I would prefer to have simpler packaging and the option to buy the sculpture separately. Hopefully they will release a fragrance in simpler packaging that ties in with the others but I don’t see it happening. 275 is so much money to people in this economy. I personally have a family so no I won’t be buying it. I just can’t justify it. I would love to but ya girls got bills.

Just a reminder the reason why the price is so big is funding for the music videos. Melanie sold her house for the portals project (and bc she was doxed) just think about the makeup, editing, building, outfits, wigs, advertising and more.

But some were saying its only 70 i look at the website and i couldn't find it but my friend did she say it had one saying it 270 for one and a different one saying its 70 for one if anyone knows why it said that pls tell me😀

I got it on a payment plan with the shop pay option. Made it so much more easier to obtain - anyway - I’m only interested in one fragrance tbh, and am curious to see the sculpture bc it looks cute and if it is this expensive I think the sculpture is mostly likely a limited run, meaning when she releases the separate batches, they obviously won’t have the packaging or sculpture. I do wish they showed actual pics of the vials, bc they are shadowed out on the site, and we got at the very least, dimensions for the creature head, I’m sure the head part isn’t the full foot. But it’d be nice to have a little more information about the packaging and product.

I’ll be honest and say it’s wild because it’s $388 in Canada and after shipping it’s $444 so it’s crazy but if people aren’t happy with this they can wait until Melanie starts selling them secretly. I think the idea Mel had is really cool and I get why she made it hat much but I can agree it’s to much. I think it’s very cool with the 1 foot packaging which yes is 12 inches. Overall I think that it’s to much but we will eventually be able to get the fragrances for a different price

Parfüme is different than perfume. Parfüme is stronger and REAL, you don’t need a big bottle because it’s stronger, and the statue is 1ft tall. She also stated she needs money for rent and stuff and she’ll come out with more Parfümes that have bigger bottles. Be grateful she even gave us the Parfümes rather than hating on her for them. She’s worked so hard to make these and spent so much money on them. Whenever she comes out with something new that fans wanted, some of her “fans” will bash on her for the smallest things. Be grateful

And what are these supposed to smell like? Will we be able to get samples of these or a description of the main notes? Because cool bottle or not nobody wants to pay that much for a stinky perfume they aren’t going to use. I’m both a bottle collector and user have numerous fragrances and this already doesn’t seem like a good deal.

I see her more as an artist than a celebrity so I find her pricing pretty normal. Collectors buy artist’s work and an art print can cost up to 300 dollars. Celebrities like Ariana Grande are pricing their makeup and perfume just the right amount so that children who are fans can ask their parents to buy it. Melanie would definitely not profit by making her perfume cost that much. She is creating her work purely as an artist. If you think it’s expensive, don’t buy it it’s not meant for you. Look out for other merch items she will release in the future that is more affordable.
I understand having a novelty sculpture version for the more expensive parfum. I am just waiting for the more affordable versions to come out because I personally am not buying a sculpture with a side of perfume. I want just the perfume, and most fans can't afford this one.
Ok let me take this up, I LOVE MELANIE MARTINEZ but this perfume, is very expensive. The thing is the perfume is not really a perfume it’s a parfum. Parfums, are mainly more expensive because they have a stronger scent you are getting 4 ounce mini bottles parfums which is very strong, but take all of that of the bottles and make your own portals inspired bottle for it you have a bunch of perfume. Even tho it’s small if you don’t use it one sitting you might still save yourself so much. Also there is leaks that bigger bottles will come soon, but that’s soon all we can do is wait ❤️❤️ edit: plus she’s restocking them and people are still people are pricing them at 1,000+ so I rather pay 250$ 💀
it’s a SAMPLE pack. please remember that. the cost is mostly of the packaging, it takes a lot of money to make this type of high quality packaging. this is simply a test/sample package for people who want to try it and keep the packaging as a merch.
Yeah but literally nobody asked for that - It's a cash grab. It's out of touch for an artist to expect fans to pay THIS much when most of Melanie's fans are kids, the cost of living is insanely high, and not many people can dish out $275 + HIGH SHIPPING COSTS FOR INTERNATIONAL FANS on a 1ft tall sculpture that didn't need to be made.

Maybe when it’s sold separately I might buy it because just like you said we’re paying more for the sculptor then the perfume so in my theory a 1 foot sculpture costs around 80 dollars to 200 dollars so we might get a lower price then 69 dollars

she’s going to sell individuals of the scents in normal sized bottles, you don’t know all of the detail yet so please don’t complain. that goes for everyone who’s upset, the statue is a big part of it, if you don’t want to art then you should wait until pre order is over and she actually has everything up in her website

I feel bad for all the backlash Melanie is getting. Besides, I'm pretty sure the artist decide the initial price (which could actually be less then what it's listed for) , but with everything that goes into making things like these upping the cost is mandatory. In short, I don't think Melanie made the decision to make the Parfums so expensive.

for parfum that's cheap eau de parfum is cheaper that's why Arianas cost less 1oz . 1oz of lost cherry parfum from tom ford is $250. it seems like most negative opinions don't understand the different prices and levels of concentration of parfum. this will only need one or two sprays to fill a room and feel like you already sprayed too much while lasting all day. it seems like less but its just more concentrated so a little goes a long long way

Honestly, at least for 275 bucks you do get 4 fragrances BUT that's enough to buy a concert ticket for one person in the back row, and at least you do get a foot sculpture. But the bad parts are the price, the way the bottle looks (lowkey creepy), and the Crybaby perfume was super cute and probably smelled amazing, but honestly she could have lowered the price. We ain't even buying fragrances tbh

I'm honestly insulted. like a vast majority of her fans, you know, the people who have supported her through thick and thin, including the allegations and *made her famous* , are poor and marginalized people struggling to feed ourselves are afford housing...and to be marketing this towards us is a slap in the face...it's quite out of touch and feels like her depop jewelry all over again (she was charging "angel number" prices like $222, $333, $444-3ven up to $777 for her handmade jewelry) and it's pretty disgusting. like I know times are tough, but it's tough for *all* of us and all this for a vision? like why not use that $ to help people, something she's claimed to do, like donating or even bringing back the Cry Baby perfume milk. she said something about the manufacturer not existing anymore so why not use her funding to find another one and bring it back? EVERYONE would have loved that. her "vision" of the project has beyond gone to her head and this price point doesn't exactly scream "down to earth' like this whole schtick she's trynna pass on us. I'd understand if it was a singular *ONE OF A KIND* piece...but it's not. it's being mass produced........just...I don't get it. people are saying it's because it's a stronger formulation (Perfume vs parum) but even high end and niche fragrances aren't surpassing the $200 pricetag...
1) inflation
2) needs funds for the film
3) very expensive to make
4) needs profit
5) shes making more affordable options!
6) your mainly paying for the statue, and its a collectors item they will be expensive!

Honestly it's obvious that some of yall failed your research papers in middle school because if anyone even bothered to do 30 SECONDS OF LOOKING AT HER INSTA POST, then they would have realized that Melanie herself said you're paying for the statue because it's an art piece and she wanted to be able to really come out with something shocking and beautiful. In that SAME SINGLE COMMENT, she literally said that she isn't JUST selling this one set, there will be different sizes for a much more affordable price (most likely 30-50$ due to the fact that THESE ARE NOT PERFUMES!!!! They are parfums which are much more concentrated and last LITERAL DAYS IF MADE RIGHT!! On top of that you need such a tiny amount to make a strong scent that 2 fluid oz's is a LOT.) Do your research PLEASE instead of acting like childish piranhas so quick to attack, like there's literally a song about y'all in the album, congrats on being angry?
