In 1981 I was a 17 YO kid in a small town in Western Australia and I heard "Somebody's Knockin' " on the radio. I was hooked. I've loved the tune ever since. This is the first time I've never heard "Ashes to Ashes". It sounds great.

I never thought I would see a documentary where a song that reaches the Top 20 is considered a failure. "Ashes To Ashes" is phenomenal. The so-called giant hit they were trying to repeat the success of, "Somebody's Knockin', only peaked 11 places higher than 'Ashes To Ashes". One needs to understand the country music industry at that time to know certain artists were chosen and would always get the share of the airings on country radio and positions on the country charts. Terri would never be considered in that circle. Country had Ronnie Milsap as their designated blind artist. The other artists in the circle were marketed as celebrities. Talent was rarely a factor. But Terri's talent allowed her to get as far as she could (an impressive 7 top 40 singles) until moving to a higher calling of gospel music, where she once again broke all barriers with a voice of an angel.

I love Terri's songs and her distinctive voice! Turn around! I can see heaven! Somebody's knockin'! Just to mention a few! Turn around is my favorite, but I love them all.

I would give anything to have all her old songs of the 80s. I used to see her at the "Palamenio club " in the San Fernando Valley. Love loved her.

I'm a Native New Yorker but fell in love with Shania Twain and Terri Gibbs. Something about the theme they sang about crosses all genres. "That what friends are for" floored me. I f somebody has cheated on you, you'll get this song to he core of your soul, I don't care where you are from. It's simplicity is it's genius.

Terri Gibbs is a Terrific singer. I've been waiting for her MCA albums on CD, but it seems that they're not going to release them anymore. Not even on iTunes. Sad. I´ll keep waiting.

WoW, Very Entertaining & a Lot of Work!! *Ashes to Ashes* was the Epitome of a Female Done Wrong-Song...Ahead of It's Time!!

And we wonder why only 1 in a million make it to stardom. A lot of work - back then especially. Now, talent isn't a requirement so I imagine things are done very differently.

Terry Gibbs was from Grovetown, Ga. near Augusta, Ga. Oliver Hardy was from Harlem, Ga. There's a Oliver Hardy Museum in Harlem.

She only made 5% of the profits from her songwriting and singing? This video gave me a better idea of how unfree you are if you want to make money from your music, even back in the early 80s.

Why do people use the phrase One Hit Wonder so demeaningly? Can you imagine the musicians who would give their right arm to have A HIT, period? Hats off to those who were lucky enough to have that moment to shine.
