@teamcoalhapcharcoal They just sound bad, lol. I don't think you know what good is. Where the Volcas fall down is in their constraints in utility. But they (each) have their own amazing sound. Volca Bass plus Volca Sample sound amazing together. Again, realizing fully fleshed out songs, entirely on these two units, while potentially possible, it is a ball ache. For example, the Volca Bass can play 3 note paraphonic chords (that sound very good through its filter which easily turns into a very dirty, nasty boy) from its own sequencer or sequenced from a daw, but really, it's just not fun. But what is fun is just using them for what they are, and sampling/recording good sounding building blocks, in conjunction with other building blocks, and constructing songs from those blocks/passages. I'm a bit curious about the 'Electronica lead' (5:37). It's my absolut favourite! Did you play it on the Arturia, or does the Crave give you the possibility to make (random) patterns like this?
I've played in on the Arturia but it's quite a simple sequence so you can easily program it on the crave, too. Just have a scale in your mind and randomly add the notes. I sometimes program my sequences only within one or two octaves just to vary the octave in a range of four octaves afterwards using the Octave up / down buttons.
Does anyone else have issues with the volume seriously dropping out? I'm wondering if I got a defective unit - none of the videos I watch seem to have this issue. I know ladder filters lose bass, but I'm noticeably losing overall volume.
Hey nice video! maybe a stupid question but: what is the reason behind using additionally the Keystep, especially when creating sequences? Is the Crave internal sequencer not good enough? What are the advantages/disadvantages of using a additional Keyboard? Thanks
Crave's internal sequencer isn't bad at all. In fact, it gives you more options than the one in Keystep (such as Ratcheting). But I find it reaaaaaally annoying to program so if I just want to easily program a sequence Keystep is my go-to-device.
