Evolve is a 4v1 asymmetric multiplayer shooter, released by Turtle Rock Studios back in 2015. One player plays as the monster, a towering brute with incredible strength and abilities. The monster has to survive long enough to eat, and evolve to grow even stronger. Four players play as hunters whose only goal is to track, hunt, and kill the monster before it gets too strong. Being made free to play years after its release and player decline, ‘Evolve Stage 2’ was officially killed off earlier in 2023. Fortunately for us, it’s still playable in its legacy form on Steam!

I think there's a good amount of people! It's definitely harder to now that Stage 2 is shut down, but people love playing legacy and there's lots of activity on the Evolve discord :)

The ONLY studio in gaming history to nail "controlling the monster" then it got ruined by ungrateful playerbase for unnecessarily absurd buffs to hunters and ridiculous nerfs to the monster that made it one-sided and of course, the microtransactions.

This just came up on my feed, I remember playing the crap out of the beta when this came out lol. Amazing game, I’ll never understand what happened to it. Is it worth trying to play it today in 2024?
It definitely is, especially if you can play on PC! The discord is reasonably active for multiplayer and at least on PC you can get all the DLC monsters and skins.
That was a great match, if you didn't get caught before stage 2 you would have had a way better chance. Cause you were caught you had to evolve or you be at a huge disadvantage/killed, but with them there and you losing your armor due to evolution, they had a widow for damage as you evolved without armor, and could chunk a bit of your health. Any less HP monster might have died right there in the first confrontation. They were good, Hunters must always try to fight the monster before stage 2, then be careful in stage 2, and then stall for time in stage 3 as they chip away at the monster. If they die one at a time but stall for time at stage 3 by running for respawn times you could focus the generator and kill it. Afterall that is the other win condition for monster kill all hunters or reach stage 3 and destroy the generator. Hope your doing great and thanks for the great video.

After seeing Gigantic make a comeback from the "dead game" limbo, i hope Evolve is the next in line to rise from the ashes. And seeing amazing people like you make an actual effort to keep it alive (even if on life support lol) makes me all the more optimist it can happen

Another Evolve channel! I love to play it on console.... even if it is against bots. If i had to give a critique, and i am not by any means an Evolve pro, if you have to commit more than 25% of your health, the risk is not worth it. You can get to tier 3 but have the health of a tier 1 monster if you mismanage it. It's practically game over at that point.

It is - but you can still play the legacy version of the game if you have the files! There’s a tutorial linked in the description if you want to look into how to do it. It’s really pretty easy :)

You can only buy physical copies - but there may be steam keys floating around online. Probably pretty limited though.

You can buy physical editions or steam keys - just make sure the place you get it from is legit! I’ve heard you can buy a physical edition and use the serial number to add it to Steam.

The servers are shut down - but peer-to-peer multiplayer through private matches and lobbies still works!!
