    It's impressive how in this lineup, the BMW 600/Isetta looks massive.

    Mochet- If it's not there, it can't break. Modern German luxury sedans- It's all there, and it all can break, and can be horrifically expensive to fix

    Microcar dragrace! What a lovely idea! This is the kind of things I come here for! :D
    I hope some of these tiny cars will have their own separate reviews, it'd be a lot of fun! And I love the Messerschmitt, too!

    That Mochet looks like the kind of cyclecar the French were noted for before World War II. What is interesting to me is that the Italians did not buy the Isetta from Iso in sufficient numbers but the Germans, once it was a BMW, took it up with some enthusiasm. I have actually seen one (much smaller than the BMW 600 in the video) with a matching camper trailer, which must have been something to see when the family crossed the Alps for holidays! Iso gave up on the microcar, instead building high-performance Italian-American hybrids like the fantastic Iso Grifo.

    The light weight and single front facing door made the Isetta subject to a very unique "problem". To guys with a little bit of muscle can easily lift up the "car" and put it with the front directly up against a wall, so you can't open the door to get in.
    My grandfather and his brother used to do that with the Isetta of neighbor they didn't really like :D

    MORRIS MINOR ... The TINY CAR from the 1970s. A friend from church had one and took me for a spin. Moving along at a peppy 25mph one felt like one was going 50mph!! Boxy in appearance yet very low in height with 2 doors and hatchback. Ran on 12-13" wheels powered by motorcycle engine. Made in England. Fun to drive and VERY EASY on petrol!

    The truth is, companies that made aviation for the Axis were barred from building aircraft after the war. That's why Messerschmitt, Heinkel, and Dornier were building scooters and microcars into the 60s.

    I never had an opportunity to try the KR200, but from many reviews on the net, it seems to be pretty nimble, with low center of gravity, and also pretty fast for what it is - 105 km/h from an enclosed car with tiny 200 cc engine is nothing to be sneered at

    • @SHMPhotography97
      @SHMPhotography97 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would image highway speeds in a messerschmitt would be about as terrifying as sitting perched on top of a Saturn V rocket. Even at 50 km/h I'd be terrified in that adorable metal death trap.

    I think the German aircraft companies, like Messerschmidt, were banned by Occupation authorities from making airplanes, right after the War, unless they were for one of the occupying powers. Furthermore, the German aircraft plants in the Soviet Zone were basically looted by the "Reds." Naturally, the German aircraft companies that were still functioning had to make something, and micro cars seemed like a good way to capitalize their experience with lightweight construction.

    Some US states let you register a microcar as a "quadricycle". I wonder if you could import a Mitsuoka K-4 where you live. It might dodge the car import laws (and if not it'll be legal in a few years).
