    Dear Dream Theater please consider finding a background singer to support James. This way, James can focus on the mid and low tones, while for the high parts, he could sing the lower harmony. Other bands do this too.

    So like, how bad does it have to be before the band recognizes it? Lol.
    Or have they just agreed “ehhh, however bad James gets, we are just going to ignore it.”
    For gods sake, if you’re going to play Metropolis, it should be downtuned a full step at this stage of their career. Or if they are adamant about not downturning songs, at least open with something easier to sing like A Nightmare to Remember or In the Presence of Enemies.

      It's simplier than that. In their ear plugs, they (MP, JM, JR, JP) have instrumental mixes of the music they're playing. So they dont' hear JLB at all !!! Pretty easy to ignore the bad singing.

  • @Rahvanteli
    @Rahvanteli 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    Seems like they just don't care what people think anymore. Well, I guess at least we get to enjoy the instrumentals.

    For all the people saying "how couldn't they hear JLB singing so badly" ? The answer is pretty simple. They (MP, JM, JP; JR) got in their ear-plugs instrumental version of the music they're playing. So they don't hear him AT ALL !

      @@gabrielfelix7892 That’s the point. He is 61, and he is struggling. I’m not complaining, just feeling sorry for him and his voice. They need a younger vocalist. I’m sure there’s a lot of work in the band besides singing.

    • @jayg339
      @jayg339 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Replacing him isn’t really much of an option, but at the very least they can use some strategy to make him sound his best by either downtuning the songs or ignoring the early 90s stuff that’s really tough to sing.

    • @cellula8480
      @cellula8480 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

      @@jayg339 there's no amount of downtuning that can help him. Look at Bon Jovi. They downtune very drastically and he still can't hit the notes. Labrie is done. His voice is shot. Right now they need to get a new vocalist that can hit the notes of the songs people love. This can be the beginning of a HUGE problem for dream theater if they don't fix this and FAST.

    What did he say? “Welcome we have a big, big show, a long, long show…” I wonder what was he thinking about when he said that, given the way he said that. This is the prize you pay for being stubborn. What I am about to say will be even more rude, but seriously man, an amateur doing karaoke in his wedding party sounds better than you do at this point. It’s painful man! And to think that Dominici (RIP) was still having a powerful and interesting voice even at the end of his career. So, Mike is back, and James is still in, I wonder what the heck are this guys doing finally!??

    As a long-time DT fan, James used to be my favorite band member, but unfortunately, in recent years, I can hardly listen to him anymore; it's very difficult for me. I don't understand why they’re still keeping him in the band. Does he have a mortgage or some other financial burden that he has to pay off, and that’s why they’re keeping him? Even Portnoy hinted at it back in the day, suggesting that he wasn’t at his best. If everyone is in agreement on this, why is it still happening? Hey, James, if you have payments or financial situations, as DT fans, we're ready to support you. Take care of yourself:D

      Fan since 91 and I’m gonna
      Cut him a lot of slack first off Metropolis is the
      Wrong song to open with it’s a beast of a song. Down tuning would help some
      Acceptance of the fact that James is getting old but vocally when the soft Melodic parts come in. He’s the best it’s really hard
      To sing Rock music every night. These guys being the prog masters melodies Rythyms sequences timing octaves all changing so fast. I’m gonna give James a break and support this band with James. And always
      Will. I’ve been a
      Fan of Jethro Tull and saw Ian Anderson blow his
      Vocals on the under wraps Tour I caught the show in Minneapolis the Wisconsin shows on you tube. I’m pretty sure they canceled the tour after that. Ian has toured for 30 years with vocal problems accept it or move on. And god help you all when you get old.

      @@MrEngie85what??? You really think after all this years on tour, on stage night after night nerves have something to do with it??? Nah! Singers lose it after certain age, unless they take proper care of their voice. You have many example of guys taking good care of it : Geoff. Tate, Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson, James Dio… This guy did not do what had to be done. Now he’s on the thin line. The singer has always been the weak link in DT anyways… listen to that! Petrucci is not even capable to do a good backing vocal! Sad spectacle!
